"eh? what do you mean I'm not the most important event of this episode!?"

I forgot just how amazing the beginning of Water 7 is. The chapter where Luffy chooses to go one-on-one with Aokiji is probably the single best chapter I've read so far. Then after that we get to the parts where Luffy needs to make a decision on the ship and Usopp loses the money.

I can't believe Oda's talent in making a genuinely funny cast of characters who can become serious and evoke such an emotional response from the reader/viewer at the drop of a hat. The man is a GOD.

I have been on such a One Piece kick lately. Can't wait for the next episode.

I agree with all of this, and wish more people I knew appreciate OP as much.

Decent episode. The amount of filler bullshit is starting to get to me though. The whole Hannyabal skit was awful and ate up like 4 minutes. :| Other than that, it was cool seeing Blackbeard again. Oh, and the huge head on Ivankov was :lol. Hell Wink!

I agree with the :lol @ Ivankov's head.

Blackbeard's gunner has to be based off of the guy from the Baron Munchausen movie. It just dawned on me that's who he looked like. I'm probably late on noticing that though.

Vic

Please help me with my bad english
WTF with the translation of Shiryuu's last line.

Isn't it supposed to be something like "My apologies for cutting you down" not "I have the right... to cut you down"?

Only for those that have seen the movie. The first time I saw him a few years ago, I immediately thought of the sniper from Baron Munchausen too.

Yeah I just saw that picture. A little off topic, but the first time I saw anything Baron Munchausen related was a cartoon I saw as a kid that took place on the moon. When I first searched for it, I couldn't find anything. That was before Wikipedia and Youtube existed and now I found it.

Now back on topic. As I was reading more about Baron Munchausen on Wikipedia, I bet that Norland is based off of Baron Munchausen due to the stories that he told.

ROFL!!!

In this old movie I linked to, they used a storm and a "knock-up stream" to launch them to the moon. :lol

Oda must have been a Baron Munchausen fan.

Whoa a One Piece Thread!

Anyway, I caved in and started reading it, up to Chapter 8. I hope to see Rorona Zoro more, the previous fight was pretty good though he wasnt in much action :( The third sword he uses with his mouth is still mind blowing!

I was going to type "was it x?" in spoilers, but I figure it's better just to ask. What'd you read? And the current manga arc is incredible, so yeah, read it!

The spoiler that's so damn big that I wouldn't put it in spoiler tags in case someone highlights by mistake. I knew one of them and was mad then, but this is even bigger >_< I'm not sure what order the events happen in but jesus.

It has to do with a (do not highlight it's still spoiler-y)
death
.

Welp. Up to Chapter 550 now. I was hoping to finish the Viz volumes up to the ones released in June before moving to scanlations but whatever. I'll catch up and then read them as they come out.

Yeah, figured. Sorry that had to be spoiled for you. But now you get to read the manga, and there's plenty of other fantastic moments to look forward to, even ignoring the spoiler.

Take your time and enjoy it. Best fucking manga out there. The anime is getting on my nerves altely with the slow pacing but... I hope they speed up as soon as the GREAT parts start.

I can't believe nearly a year ago I was picking on One Piece. Fuck me. :lol

Wow the action picked up once I hit chapter 8 now I cant stop reading, this has gotten good! (still with Buggy but now the Beast Tamer guy and Luffy)
If you think it's getting good now you can kiss April goodbye. You'll be caught up by the end of next month :lol then you can watch the anime for the amazing voice acting.

Well Chapters 8 through 22 distracted me from my study time, though fortunately I had studied enough so it was a worthwhile distraction, lol.

Anyway from Chapter 8 onwards I couldnt stop reading it was just too good and fast paced and action, lol. Gomu Gomu!!!!

So they barely explaimed the geography, 2 oceans, and 1 landmass in the world of One Piece? Where do they get the seas from?

I believe there are maps of the seas in the Data books and art books. Detailed ones, at that.

How the world is split up is explained just before they hit the Grand Line.

Well Im at Chapter 28, so I guess that wont happen for a long time? Anyway is Nami always only concerned about Treasure??
Keep reading. And stay out of the manga thread!

As far as geography goes, all you need to know is you're in East Blue and that there's something called "The Grand Line". The world of One Piece is made up of islands as far as I can tell. Nothing as large as an Earth continent, but some as large as countries and others as big as cities.

I've never quite gotten that, to be honest. Like, if they crossed into the Grand Line, over the Red Line (via Reverse Mountain), from East Blue... and soon they're going to cross back over the other side of the Red Line (via Fishman Island) into the "New World"... aren't they going to end up right back between East Blue and South Blue?

Yeah, basically the world is circled by both the Grand Line and the Red Line, which is perpendicular to the Grand Line and splits it in two (and both of them divide the world in North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue). There are only two points of access to the Grand Line, and the second half of it is the New World, where the One Piece is supposed to be.

EDIT: ^Yes, but their entrance placed them at beginning of the following part of the Grand Line, so they had to navigate through it to end up in the New World, which is the one between East and South Blue.

Don't worry, there's a big problem with the map. How they got onto the Grand Line through Reverse Mountain, without crossing through the Grand Line is bizarre. There's either a place where there is no Grand Line, or a place where there is no Calm Belt. The Calm Belt surrounds the GL on both sides, so something's gotta give. Loguetown looks like it's misplaced on the map. PEACE.

Marineford is in the other intersection between the Grand Line and Red Line right? That's the point of entry the Marines use?

The entrance that the Straw Hats use is Reverse Mountain which I think has entrance points diagonally into the Grand Line from East/South/West/North Blue.

Not exactly, Loguetown is actually on East Blue, just close to Reverse Mountain. The actual entrance is diagonal to the Grand Line, on all the four seas. So there is an entrance on every sea that flows straight into the Grand Line after the four rivers meet. Like this:

Yeah I remembered that since I read it pretty recently. That was a long time ago! Around Chapter 100 / 580 so before Episode 100 as the anime wasn't doing 1:1 back then.

This is why Nami is around, to help everyone (Oda included) create a proper world map, since the current one is clearly bonkers.

It certainly doesn't stop the series from being incredible.

But I do think it's funny that they're essentially trying to travel to roughly where they started. I imagine it'll eventually make more sense, in any case.

Sanji talked about the dream of finding All Blue, I dont see that place on the map at all. Im on this chapter now

It's not in the map because if it were he wouldn't need to travel with Luffy and the others:p It's probably in some point of the New World.

Also the map does make sense, it's just a bit weird to understand at first, but when you add up the facts you see it can't be done any other way (even the Marine who have Seastone haven't found the One Piece, so it's not just the Calm Belt that it's protecting it).

Nah, Viz's translation is "In this world, it's winner take all! Losers get nothing!"
