The thread title hasn't been changed.
Yeah, it used to be "UHD consoles launched in 2013" or something similar.
Edit: Wait... Holy Shit.... Are there multiple threads about this?

Maybe, there are three articles speculating the reason is competition with Sony's coming UHD blu-ray player and that at some point after it has been on the market Sony will release a UHD player for the PS4 Pro. The difference is I believe they will release a player for ALL PS4s and compatible Windows 10 PCs as they have a licence for PC drive and PC player APP. If the 2013 and 2015 PS4s are UHD capable, we know they have HDMI 2.0a ports, as stated in efficientgaming.eu by Sony calling them UHD capable with the XB1 and PS3 called HD Capable then the only issue is the drive. Sony made the drive for the PS4s and knew in advance as early as 2010 what the disk drive would have to read and that is version 2 disks mentioned in the 2010 patent and supported in the 2010 BD-R whitepaper. It wont support 4K-Blu-Ray
The difference is I believe
Of course not, but you notice I am not NOW being called mentally ill, crazy, or insane. Multiple articles are now posting what I have been posting for a year+.And that is all that matters, right?
The derailing by defending myself is one of the Mods reasons for the NeoGAF temporary ban. He should have warned the posters they were derailing the thread but he apparently thinks that my fixation on PS4 hardware features is somehow wrong and of course he is a left wing sympathizer and my bringing speculation from a doctor on HRCs possible medical issues is a ban-able offence.
XB1 Slim sales will go up right? Sony wants to sell blu-ray disks, including UHD blu-ray and services so they want as many people using the PS4 in living rooms as possible. In the long term it's counter productive to not have UHD blu-ray support as UHD Blu-ray makes a complete media player for the living room. This is why the Xb1 slim has it right? Both want to support ATSC 3 in about 2 years which is why all PS4s are UHD capable. If I am correct about the drive it costs them a fraction of a penny to support UHD blu-ray if the PS4 is UHD capable. The term for a BDA licence for UHD blu-ray is 5 years and they already have one for PCs and Embedded/Game consoles. If they use it in game consoles or not it costs them the same.Jeff even if PS4 Pro and PS4 could do UHD, sony would be competing with itself and killing off a potential revenue generator for their emaciated consumer electronics division if they put 4k bluray into these boxes.
You could be right about every last thing, but I just can't imagine a scenario where Sony feels charitable enough to firmware update 40 plus million to a new disc format with zero profit incentive.
It's sad but true.

I guess I made too strong a case by prefacing that people with the issue I listed usually die of Pneumonia due to swallowing difficulties.

Yup, I may be banned again for that but it needs to be said. At this point considering how I have been treated by Neogaf posters and Mod(s) I don't think it would be a bad thing.Well, you're certainly going to get far on the gaming side by detailing your own threads with talk of unfair moderation by left-wing sympathizers. Really headed in a whole new and exciting direction now.
Truth is shitty.Jebusman said:Oh, oh no.
Jeff, this isn't the way to go about it.
Don't sit here and be shitty about why you got banned.

Why would the PlayStation division give a shit about selling UHD Blu Rays? If anything they would just distract gamers from buying games.

Thank you for bringing that. We all know that one of the disk formats a BD-ROM 4 drive has to support is Version 2 (reduced mark length and three layers). BD+ BD mark with one of the AACS keys and AACS are different for UHD but older versions were on drives for HD Blu-ray. The UHD disk and drive use the same basic DRM schemes but updated and running in a TEE this time. The 4th edition Blu-ray Disc white paper section 1.4.3 does state that while BD-ROM is technically capable of accessing (same transfer rate) the 50 GB dual layer type disc at 4K 30fps, they cannot be played back due to the video coding method and content protection system incompatibility.
It also specifies that BD-ROM can be used to access triple layer discs up to 100GB as long as the BD_ROM passes compliance to the new standard set in 2015, i.e. compliance with the content protection, video decoding methods, spin rate and minimum mark length.
It is NOT capable of reading BDXL discs (triple and quadruple layer up to 128GB) BD-RE and BD-R

I have been repeatedly told there is NO HDMI 2 port in the PS4 and called crazy for believing so. No one acknowledged this and some still insist that HDR is being supported without a HDMi 2.0a port and negotiation. That is crazy. It was obvious a year ago that HDCP takes place in the media TEE. Using the same logic with the Southbridge chip's 256 MB of DDR3 supported with a memory chip designed to hide the pins and design described as supporting DRM, it is supporting some function like trusted boot which would not need a memory that size or it's the trustzone Media TEE which also supports a trusted boot for it'self and the APU.Jeff people have put up with your rambling nonsense for a lot longer than I honestly think you deserved, but the only reason for that is because of the level of dedication you have been putting into your conspiracy theory warrants at least the respect to investigate your claims.
At the end of the day however, like many, MANY people told you, what you prophesized turned out to be wrong. It doesn't matter how many "I was 1/3 right" or "I was 50% correct" you pull out in trying to support your theory, because you were ultimately wrong. You STILL point out that efficientgaming.eu paper as if it holds any actual meaning.
And the reasons you were wrong had been pointed out to you, repeatedly, over the course of months and months. Even stuff that you were ultimately correct on is stuff that people willingly conceded,
The current PS4 media/DLNA Player has no DRM support and is a temporary player waiting on HTML 5 <video> MSE EME which was waiting on HDCP 2.2 which is now in the PS4 since it supports HDCP 2.2 for HDMI 2.0a. This means that all features waiting on this can be implemented any time now, they are:
Background Firmware updates without using the APU.
HDMI 2.0a
Vidipath
Playready (Vidipath requires Playready and Playready protected DTCP-IP for DLNA )
Miracast
HTML5 <video> MSE EME (The DRM parts)
IPTV Apps
ooVoo or some video chat (by default video chat is encrypted)
All the APPs will be rewritten to use the media TEE which requires Codec, Player, encryption routines and HDR take place in that TEE. The same routines will be used by all IPTV apps. Apps will be "Mono commercial apps" in the PS4 as Sony has a Mono Just In Time (JIT) compiler built into the PS4 OS and in OS core dumps is called Mono Commercial APP support. Mono will call APIs for the Media TEE and Browser native libraries. APPs will dramatically shrink in size.
That's a bit of a jump.I mentioned in later threads that HDR support for media is required to take place in the media TEE and is a very low bandwidth addition to Standard Dynamic Range in that TEE. Games have to add HDR to the video in the GPU which takes a small amount of additional processing. And yes HDR for games does not require HDCP 2.2 but it does require the HDMI 2.0a negotiation. I'm guessing Sony chose to not support HDR till they implemented HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2.
So PS4 firmware 4 implements HDCP 2.2 which requires TMP 2.0 standards for the cryptography accelerators and keys in the Media TEE.

Locked hopefully. This thread is going places.
No.So if I'm following this correctly, PS4 Pro can play 4K movie discs *if* they patch it? But, there's no confirmation this is officially happening despite the thread title?

I'm on #teamRigby
Here's why, my other forum I'm on religiously is the AVS forums, and a lot of what he is saying has been confirmed by people in the know that have tore apart the ps4 chip by chip. To the people just blantly calling Jeff a lier is shit tier because these other people also in the know, can't honstly figure out why Sony hasn't initiated uhd, and even more importantly, coming out with the pro, and saying no to 4k discs, yet the specs prove it is very possible.
A small one considering the timing. Microsoft did a Windows 10 update August 2 to support TMP 2.0 which is needed for HDCP 2.2 which is then used for Miracast, Vidipath, HDMI 2 etc. That's a bit of a jump.
