Ori and the Blind Forest - March 11 (XB1/Steam; $19.99), new gameplay footage

Dear and wonderful GAFfers,

I already teased about our orchestral recording sessions a while back and we've been working hard on putting together a little 'Behind the Scenes' glimpse of what Gareth Coker, our composer, and the amazing talent at the Nashville Music Recording Studios did:

It's quite amazing to hear that stuff in the game - I fondly remember how amazed I was by hearing orchestral music in a game back when I played Final Fantasy VII and it made all the difference in the world when we finally integrated the orchestral Soundtrack into Ori and the Blind Forest.

11th of March, only a few weeks left! I hope you guys are as excited as we are! :)
This soundtrack sounds amazing. Please tell me it'll get a release alongside the game. Thanks for putting up the video.

Thank you for the 1080p art work you provided! I can't wait to go home and download it on my xbox one :D.

I can't wait to show my daughter how to play this when she is older.

What will be the next move for MOON after Ori is released? ;)

Will this be coming out on Steam on March 11 also? I don't see a Steam page for this yet? Will it be locked at 60 fps or can I run it at 144 fps on my ROG Swift monitor?

Wow, I don't think I'll add anything substantial to the topic but this looks stunning.

Also, dat music! I love good audio in games.

Day 1.

This is 60fps on xb1 right?

Yup!

The Soundtrack will be released a day before release, on March 10th! :)

Can't say yet, but I wish I could! ;)

Is this game metroidvania style?

Yup - and all the way. The entire world is connected, no loading times, lots of abilities, light RPG elements and all of that good stuff with chocolate on top! :D

Yep, Ori and the Blind Forest will launch on Xbox One and on PC the same day and date!

It's not locked at 60, so yes and OMG, I have to try it on a GSync monitor! :)

Thanks everyone for the awesome support! Love you all :)

So, I was wandering what animals you guys drew inspiration from when creating Ori? I'm really getting fennec fox vibes.

Mmmm, stutter and judder here and there (1:45 for example).

And that transition in 1:08.

Concerns about not fluid experience arise again.

Yes, that was totally finished game footage running at 60fps 1080p uploaded to YouTube. A total representation of the game at release.

My concerns are just mine. A Unity game with locked 60 fps in a big game without loadings is something that could raise concerns. I really hope being wrong. Thomas seems an honest guy btw.

I'll buy the game day-one, then.

The game looks fantastic.

I hear your concerns, cause at some gameshows our debug builds have been shown on rather weak PCs (some even without GPUS, goddamit :D), but don't worry, we've been optimizing the hell out of it. With 60fps and that slight bit of moBlur that we have, it's really buttery now :)

The game continues to impress with every new bit of media. The visual fidelity makes me green with envy (rookie mobile dev here). How'd you pull this off? This is my most anticipated game right now. I was kind of looking forward to The Order: 1886 but this is the one I really want :D Can't wait to find out more about Ori and the circumstances surrounding him!

I feel like I need to apologize for the facetiousness friend. GAF has... had an effect on me lol.

My point still stands though.

Wow.

Liking what I've heard of that score already.

Been waiting for this! Will go XB1 first but if it's as good as I hope, will double dip on 360 for sure!

On the off chance devs are seeing this:

@OriBlindForest - It would be lovely to get a review code in advance. I still wouldn't hesitate to purchase it day one, but I'd love to get to work on a review and videos for the community in advance.

Can't wait to pick it up on Steam.

For $2.49 next year.

Waiting for mediocre-looking games to drop is one thing, but if this game lives up to the preview vids it's a disservice not to pay $20. That's practically nothing. I've pissed away more than that before on two tickets to a shitty 2-hour movie that my wife and I walked out of 30 minutes into it.

Any idea on the minimum requirements? I'm running a fairly old computer by now but this was Day 1 for me since the announcement.
