Woke up this morning to 3 charges amounting to 115$ of FIFA 15 in Europe. I live in USA. Luckily capital one denied and I wont pay for it.

It was frustrating and made me late for work but my main question is this something that happens alot? And if I talk to EA what will happen? Will they give a game or just say sorry?

I ofcourse will be taking my Credit Cards off most my online accounts now, which I should probably have done anyways.

Its good that your payment didn't go through, dodged a bullet there .. but yeah hacks and FIFA go hand in hand.

Yep, it happens all the time. It happened to me too, well they tried to but I had no credit card attached.

There's obviously a security flaw but they either can't be bothered to fix it or don't know how.

Blame those stupid ultimate team cards, that's when all this started.

yep, happened to me too on 360..
hacked my EA account (only that, not my microsoft one) and stole all my ultimate team and game currency.

Isn't it likely that FIFA isn't the cause? It's just the easiest way for the people stealing accounts to get cash.

Always FIFA. Always, always, always. So glad I don't play that game. Although if I did I wouldn't keep a card on file.

I'm shocked that EA hasn't been investigated for allowing this to occur. Isn't this whole thing somewhat akin to money laundering?

At this point, putting anything important near Fifa is a bloody liability. How has EA gotten away with this for so long with zero consequence?

Happened to me on 360 with a username and password that is used solely for Xbl.

I removed all payment details for alkl my consoles after that, only use PayPal and 2 step now.

Is there any evidence that EA is at fault?

It seems to me like FIFA is the target for its value more than anything else, and hackers just exploit common user-error flaws in password management.

I wonder how this is being exploited. Weak passwords? Using passwords from other leaks? The motivation is FUT but you could always lay blame on popular titles. See Battle.net phishing attempts or account hacks before Authenticator.

Happened to me too on PC, luckily I noticed it almost immediately and blocked my credit card. My money spent around 2 weeks in some sort of money-limbo and got returned to me eventually, but I suspect no thanks to EA - their support sent me from one place to another (US support to Polish support to US support etc.) and generally didn't give a fuck about my problem. Fuck EA, fuck Origin, fuck using my credit cards on gaming accounts.

EDIT: My case is maybe one month old, so yeah, it's still happening.

FIFA again?
Kinda glad I don't really like sport games, but this is ridiculous from EA.

Doesn't mean anything. I don't play Fifa, and I got 'hacked' a few years ago. In fact, the one reason I noticed (well, aside from 35000 MS points missing) is because I had a FIFA 12 achievement appear out of nowhere.
