Overwatch |OT10| That'll do pig, that'll do

.

Ultimately, the fact that Blizzard allowed all this shit to fester for so long while going "Our systems are fine and don't promote toxicity" is really insane and just led to this. It's like when a bunch of children realize that their parents/teacher/whatever left and won't be coming back for a period of time. Once they know they can get away with it, they just keep doing it and it spreads. This could have been handled awhile ago as people started to point out the increase in toxic behavior, but Blizzard in their infinite wisdom decided things were okay to continue as is.

Yeah, all that makes sense. It really baffles me how poor Blizzard is at actually removing shit people and responding to the report system. It really baffles me how they don't have any report system at all on PS4 yet. Not even including game balancing, it really seems like Blizzard is simply chasing the eSport money and they don't care about the regular player base at all. Like they ignore all the problems that people who aren't competing have with the game.

And I honestly never thought about the "no incentive to be nice" bit. The cards at the end are a joke, after a year most people on the losing team have left the game before the cards even show, and sometimes the winning team has left too. It's ridiculous. There should be some sort of system where you can vote up a player you play with each match and after so many upvotes you get a loot box or something, I dunno.

I was also really happy with the medal system when I started playing because I've never been great at FPSes and always felt guilt when I played in deathmatch on a team and was in the lower half of the scoreboard. But as I played the game longer, I realized a lot of people use medals as a barometer of how well they're doing and don't understand at all that you can have gold medals but still be sucking at what you're supposed to be doing.

The game could really benefit from a longer tutorial that gives you better instructions on how to play in a team fight, and what specific character's roles are in the game. On the other hand, the game has been out for so long that it's questionable if anybody who really needs to learn that stuff would actually use it.

Just had 2 throwers on my team and we lost. Mercy main tilted after losing the first round. On the plus side both players lost 44 and 40 SR respectively. Whereas I only lost 20, seems suiciding in spawn all game has its downsides.

Well imagine console, minus text chat and without absolutely no reporting system. You can do absolutely whatever you want, whenever you want however you want. I agree with you on all the points and partly why ive made little effort to try to transition to PC because it just seems like the same shit wrong with console even if it is the better game. My interest is also no where near it was a month or so ago.

Oh for sure it's worst on console since blizzard doesn't really give two shits about it. Report feature has been "coming soon" for like 5 months.

I agree with Lik that having stacks can help but I honestly don't like going full 6 or 5 every time I want to get on comp.

I actually think text chat leads to far more toxic encounters than I ever got on PS4. I still do not understand why the enemy teams can communicate to each other during a match, lol.

6-stack matches are pretty sweaty but the matches have been more fun and not stressing over someone trolling/throwing is actually quite a relief. I also found that we have way better teamwork and people are able to pick heroes and not get yelled at. It's actually been pretty pleasant. Of course, if we lose twice in a row, I do need a break because most of the time the matches are intense and tough against other stacks.

6-stacks is the only way. You don't need to worry about people throwing or trolling. People might still tilt, but it's better than anything with randoms.

I totally agree that a 6-stack is the way to go in the current climate, but it's also more of a "put your fingers in your ears and la la la" solution instead of trying to get Blizzard to fix what's fundamentally wrong with the game right now and eliminating idiot trolls and throwers at the source.

I'd much rather have a game that I'm excited to play solo AND in a group over a game where I'm disappointed when I get on and a six-stack is already full, and know I'm 50% likely to have horrible games that night.

Yah, until the harsher penalty system and console reporting feature is implemented and actually impacts the trolls/throwers, this game's Comp scene is gonna stagnate.

I think the fact that people are literally leaving the game on auto queue for Lucioball and then rubber banding their controllers just to get experience to get event loot boxes, and nothing is being done about that, is an indicator of just how shitty Blizzard has been with penalties and managing the ranking system of their own game. They can't even have a fun, event exclusive mode be free of people gaming the system.

I think Deathmatch might get some instalock DPS guys to play that mode since they're usually bad with teamwork/completing objectives anyway. It might reduce some of those types of players from playing the team-based modes.

Well that's a first, just has a draw on Anubis because both sides had one dude who threw the game and refused do anything with the team, playing it like it was straight up TDM.

This is the part of the season where my SR usually tanks due to throwers and trolls.

It's fucked cuz I need to get back to plat or when I place next season I'll be put 200 below and the circus will be back in town.

Is matchmaking broken on quick play. I swear I'm getting stuck with actual noobs. People who most likely just started or are just plain shit.

How in the fuck am I getting 3-5 gold medals each match when I'm not even that amazing of a player. I'm good but every fucking match? Fuck this.

It might, when you can earn golden guns from Deathmatch.

can you turn enemy team text chat off similar to Rocket League?

This is infuriating. This morning, I entered a game in Arcade Lucioball and saw I was down 0-2. After a few seconds, I realized only one person on each team was actually playing. The rest were rubber banding their controllers. I stayed to try and get the win (6-3), but, that is ridiculous.

With the news about Junkertown, is there a good chance the map will be revealed at Gamescom next week, then added to the PTR shortly afterward? Eichenwalde was revealed there last year, so....

Also, Mad Maxx skin for Soldier: 76?

As long as it's not 2CP, I'll welcome it.

I would imagine it as a KotH map. A vicious, winner take all sort of town would feel most appropriate as a map where everyone is just straight up trying to kill each other for a scrap of land. Though I guess one team trying to take a resource from another team is thematically appropriate too.

No.

No!

I would like the map to either be Escort or Assault/Escort, as that would be a fun way to explore Junkertown and discover Junkart and Roadhog's treasure vault.

Also, why not a Mad Max-inspired skin for Soldier?

Yeah you can. /leavechannel does the trick.

You actually can't leave the channel in comp, you can hide all of it though. It's not so much a problem on my end, I never argue with anyone. It's just that my teammates love to talk shit to the other team and vice versa, which leads to someone getting salty and throwing, lol.

Because fuck Soldier.

Anyway, Max canonically is less proficient with rifles than he is with pistols. McCree would be the more appropriate character, especially since he's a wandering warrior himself, though McCree is more justice oriented while Mad Max is just a survivor that happens to have a streak of integrity in him.

Furiousa skin for Doomfist? With the whole arm thing and all.

Symmetra.

Yeah, that's actually much better.

Other character skins I think would work with Mad Max aesthetic:

Pharah: A low tech version of her suit sounds awesome

Bastion and Torbjorn: This is interesting because they'd be integrating high end tech (Robotics) into the mad max world. It'd be an interesting mix.

Reinhardt: What Mad Max tribute is complete without their huge guy tribute. I know Roadhog already fills this, but Reinhardt could do it as well. Edit: Zarya would be good too.

These are some good suggestions. Aside from Soldier, I would like to see how Reaper would look like in the setting.

It would be amazing if the payload was a mad max style beat up truck with like a plough on it and spikes or something to deliver a big ass bomb, like something junkrat and roadhog would drive

I'm encountering more toxicity on PS4 the higher up the ladder I go. In the early low platinum range, I was honestly surprised with how many chill games I got in a row. People complimenting each other and having fun.

Now, even when we win, it's iffy. I just had a really intense KotH game in Lijiang Tower. We lost the first two points, but ended up in a reverse sweep. Our Winston, and the main person on coms other than me, ended up with 87 eliminations. That's not only ridiculously high in general, I think that's the highest number of elims I've ever seen in a game. I was congratulating him, but all he was doing was being passive aggressive to our DPS (Reaper) for not doing his job.

It is pretty weird that Winston ended up getting more kills than a goddamn Reaper, but it feels kinda shitty that he had to be negative even in victory, and especially with his achievement, even if it wasn't directed towards me. (I had gold elims for the first half, but then I started to just DM my teammates more. Honestly, I felt I kinda shouldn't have been playing D.Va since they had a Winston and Zarya, so my DM is less effective, but I want Orisa to be the next tank I get good with, so I'm waiting for her buff)

Edit: On that note, I'm getting sick of Mercy's current place in the game. I don't hate her as much as I do others, but I think she would work much better with 150hp, if she's going to have all the abilities she does. This would take her out of high end games even more, but you know what, I feel that's worth it. As is, she feels as harder to kill than Tracer.

Quick play in its wonderful matchmaking wisdom had me put against a top 500 Tracer main when I was tank and then again when I was support.
I've never felt such futility in trying to avert my demise, gosh dang, it was horrifying but very impressive.

Well, first of all, in my opinion a Winston should be getting gold elims. He should be harrying and scratching up everything his DPS is diving on, essentially contributing his little tickle damage to every kill while the Reaper/Tracer/DPS actually blows through individual targets and does the lion's share of those elims' damage with their powerful concentrated fire. I'm probably worth ignoring, though, because...

I haven't placed yet this season - and don't plan to, to be honest (I'll return to comp next season, I hope) - but I think high gold/low plat is where I belong, and I'd much rather have reasonable games with reasonable peeps at my skill level than incredible games with toxic shitbags. I once had a guy - he was in the last game, which we won, and in thie second game I complimented his Lucio on an excellently-timed Sound Barrier - and at the end of the second game, game turn on his mic and told the group we should all kill ourselves.

I hate that shit. It takes a toll.

Last week I had a Mercy send me a PSN message after a QP match telling me I was "pathetic" for attacking her when I was playing Tracer. They followed it up shortly after with "so sad." Now, that whole statement is insane on many levels and I'm not about to engage with someone like this, so I ignored it - but I'll admit, it just kinda' hurt a bit that someone would reach out to insult me like that.

Later that night, I had an... encounter with a Genji as Symmetra, while defending Anubis (uploaded the highlights of that match). In the last ten seconds of the match, that Genji found me before I could set up my second teleporter and solo-ulted to take me out and ensure the tele didn't get set up.

I sent him a PSN message telling him it was a gorgeous play, and a sticker of Ellie from The Last of Us giving a thumbs up.

Be the change you want to see!

Also, about Orisa:

Even in her current state, if you can land her shots she can just shred teams coming for her. Chop them up, launch Halt in there to yank them back when they try to bail and land headshots - she can just chew through teams, when those shots land.

I am hyped for that buff.

You also get the gg from enemy team before the match starts because they don't agree with the comp or if they are losing they blame their teammates in public chat.

Yeah Doomfist is the new main. Love cheesing. So ridiculous how fast his cooldown is considering how often you can one punch people.

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. I try to be positive because I think it legitimately affects the teams performance. If someone is negative, it just deflates your motivation to even want to try. It's as much a pragmatic tactic as it is a mental one.

I totally agree, but the problem is landing those shots. I can't seem to make it work. They're so slow that there are times where it's impossible to lead on a target because even a slight change of direction means those shots are going nowhere.

I don't have this problem with Genji or Hanzo or other characters I need to lead shots with, but Orisa's firing is just useless in my hands. Which is why I'm excited about that buff as well, the projectile speed is what needs to change and it is!

I'm kinda shit with her Halt ability too tho, I need to get better with that.

He needs to have low cooldowns for the most part dude was built to be a combo machine. You can make a case for damage (not really) but if they raise any of the CDs then he's fucked.
