Pacific Assault - Pearl Harbor (56k Warning) 1280x1024 screens

Next to Half-Life 2's opening, the Pearl Harbor level is one of the most intense FPS levels I've played all year. It's actually a bit jarring as it's recreating the actual attack and the sound, graphics, and incredible score come together to make a very affecting experience...

Just a peaceful December morning in Hawaii...

How long before someone decides to re-enact the events of 9/11? Maybe a section of the game could involve running over as many people down the staircase before the building falls. Or how about playing the role of a fireman and the goal is to save as many lives before you're crushed by the debris.

...no offense...just in a wee bit of a mood.

That recreation really does look nice, but it just feels weird playing that and knowing that it really happened.

:lol I just showed the screenshots to some of my Japanese junior high students, and they thought it looked great!

What was the Japanese over all impression on Medal of Honor: Rising Sun? I remember Famitsu giving it good scores

According to Replay, the game, entitled Survivor, "is a third-person disaster survival game with highly interactive locations, based on famous, authentic-historical disaster scenarios." This will not only include the horrors of Sept. 11, but also the 1985 Mexico City earthquake, the 1945 Hiroshima bombing, and the sinking of the Titanic.

What's the point of a Pearl Harbor level? Play through it, knowing you're gonna lose?

The whole game is about the Pacific Theater, and Pearl Harbor started the Pacific war for the US so it's the first main level in the game. Plus, it is an impressive first level.

Point taken, but how do you win the level? Not die for like 2 hours?

The level starts on the docks, then you get in a PT boat, then you go through the lower decks of the USS West Virginia saving who you can, and then you defend the ship (on the deck guns) from waves of Zeros.

Those kids aren't fools the game does look pretty damn good from a presentation standpoint. I even love the way they modelled the characters and the location (I don't know if it's a complete recreation of the area).

I hope you dont finish the game the same way it did in real life...

Looks good though. Reminds me of Mafia a little, which is good.
