NHL 11 broke the platinum as well though it seems this number is among all versions (the article doesn't really specify it but hints at this way).

Gran Turismo 5 has a new record for most first day sales.

SingStar broke platinum on both PS2 and PS3.

CoD got the gold award on all platforms. Black Ops sales 30% more than the previous CoD.

Halo Reach about to hit Platinum. Also the most played Live game.

Epic Mickey should be included with these charts right?

Didn't enter the top 40 according to MCV...

edit - http://www.mcvuk.com/news/42005/UK-CHARTS-Gran-Turismo-claims-pole

It may have taken its time in getting to market, but the long wait for Gran Turismo 5 has rewarded Sony with a welcome UK No.1 in the UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40.
To claim the crown Polyphony Digital’s racer had to topple the mighty Call of Duty: Black Ops from atop of the listings. Activision’s shooter sits in second place this week.

Disney will also be disappointed to see new Wii title Epic Mickey failing to enter the UK Top 40. Warren Spector’s game claimed 11th in the Wii charts. Other new titles that failed to chart include Namco Bandai duo Splatterhouse and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.

If that keeps up Spector and others are in trouble, Disney is shaking things up and got rid rid of their long time Disney interactive executives. Not to mention the cancellation of Armada of the Damned and the Disney Kinect game, which was something like an interactive Disney World.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ent...-hopper-latest-to-exit-interactive-group.html
The longtime head of Disney's video game business who championed next week's highly anticipated release Epic Mickey is leaving amid an ongoing shakeup at the company's struggling interactive unit.

[...]

Hopper's announcement marks the second high-level departure at the troubled interactive unit in recent months. Steve Wadsworth, who was president of Walt Disney Interactive for more than a decade, abruptly left the company in October. He was replaced by Pleasants and former Yahoo executive Jimmy Pitaro.

WOW that is really bad for epic mickey, I guess the "late" and messy release in the EU did not help :(
Hopefully the game will ship this week from amazon.uk with DKC ! :D

[edit] Spector will be fine, he can work at any studio if he wants to.

Blabla 3rd party Wii titles don't sell blabla
I don't care about that shit, I'm more worried about Propaganda(pretty much dead), Junction Point Studios and Blackrock Studios. All of which develop/create products that Disney doesn't want anymore.

GT5 going top of the all format chart is impressive. I thought it would top the individual chart but be outsold by COD on a multiplatform basis.

Even worse than I was expected, and I wasn't expecting much. Worth noting that Disney is not a particularly powerful UK brand though.

Lol what?

Of course it's a strong brand over here in the UK. Although again i think this says much about the Wii audience as this game was trailed heavily i saw advertisements for it everywhere over the last few weeks.

It out sold it only THIS week he don't forget that, cod will remain in the top40 for a LONG time and GT5 will surely also do.
But for how long.

That's what they get for making an exclusive, high-budget Wii game. They really should've expected it, how hard is it to notice that third-party Wii games generally don't do well? If they put it on 360 or PS3 it might not have bombed as badly.

Given the pretty ropey launch in the UK, I'd give it until next week before declaring it a complete disaster, but it's not looking good at all for EM...

EDIT:

...and what ads? I've been watching kids TV and primetime stuff a lot with my family, and I've seen nothing for Epic Mickey. Plenty of ads for the new Mario Kart bundle and other Wii/DS titles, but zero for EM.

Im pretty sure they could have 3DS/HD Versions ready for next year if it bombs in US too.

We've feared something like low sales but not THAT. This is painful to watch.
I imagine this must have to do with them poisoning the well with all their terrible Disney branded shovelware.

This thing bombed harder than Bloodstone even.

Yes I thought that was obvious, there's no way it's going to sell more in total than BLOPS. Doesn't stop it being an impressive first week.

Ok UK tell me on the prime Kids channel/networks how often do you see a Mickey Mouse cartoon? Like the old style onces not the CG crap. how often?
If you say non well than there is a clue.

Ok yeah sure that is impressive but GT has always been a strong brand in EU/UK.

Sony’s long awaited ‘Gran Turismo 5’ starts the race in pole position. It’s been over five years since the previous iteration (released on PS2 in week 10 2005) and over two and a half years since the sneak peek ‘Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’.

Benefitting from a Wednesday release Gran Turismo 5 achieves the 6th largest PS3 launch week and is 6% up on Gran Turismo 4 launch week sales. Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ (-42%) has therefore been demoted to No2 and Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ (-32%) also falls one place to No3. EA’s ‘FIFA 11’ (+76%) and Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance 2’ (+24%) hold their positions at No4 and No5 respectively, overtaking EA’s racing title ‘Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit’ (+2%) which has slipped down the grid to No6. Nintendo claim the next three positions with ‘Wii Party’ (+63%), ‘Art Academy’ (+220%) and ‘Wii Sports Resort’ (+1%) at No7, No8 and No9, with ‘Art Academy’ seeing the highest rise in the chart from No27 to No8, boosted by TV advertising.

Bethesda Softworks’ ‘Fallout: New Vegas’ (+97%) is back in the Top 10 this week, up from No13 to No10. Outside of the Top 10 we have a zombie take on Rockstar/Take 2’s western with ‘Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare’ debuting at No14 and Ubisoft’s ‘Michael Jackson: The Experience’ at No32.

What does "6th largest PS3 launch week" means? That 5 games had bigger first week sales than GT5 on PS3 alone?
Yeah.

Presumably they're Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, FIFA 11, FIFA 10, and GTA IV.

Yes, so first week sales for any game released on the ps3 their where 5 games bigger on the ps3 (my guess 2 of them are cod games).

You are correct, I'd always though of Disney love as being a sort of US exclusive thing. I grew up in the 80's and 90's and I've probably seen a Mickey Mouse cartoon less than 5 times in my life, if that.

I did buy Epic Mickey though, not because I like him but because the Wii needs more games like it.

Can't help but laugh over the Epic Micky sales. I'm having a hard time feeling bad for Warren and his team after watching the Giant Bomb quick Look. The game looks like an epic snoozefest and the lack of voice acting is simply jarring.

Yeah I agree with this.

This would be pretty awesome. 3DS/HD versions I mean, not the bombing bit.

Mickey Mouse is not as prominent an icon as he was, but Disney as a brand is very strong in the UK. But I'm not sure if Mickey hasn't lost some profile in the US too? He's Disney's traditional primary mascot, but kids these days are all about woody and nemo and...
