Pandora's Tower |UN-OT| The Rainfall Comes To An End

I'm not far in just yet but I'm really enjoying the game. I can't put my finger on it but the game reminds me of Xanadu Next, its a very mysterious game and the story is quite disturbing. Can't wait to play more. Of the operation rainfall games this might be my favorite already.

THANK YOU! Glad to see I'm not the only one making the Xanadu Next comparison here. Thought I might just have Falcom on the brain or something. ;)

Awesome! Both main characters look kinda similar at least haha. This is really an excellent game, hopefully it does very well for Xseed and I'm looking forward to what you folks have planned for the rest of the year. Fingers crossed for TiTS kai HD trilogy.

So anyone else pick it up today?
Called my GS and it might show up today.
I got mine from an EB Games in Toronto just now, one guy behind the counter didn't think they had it because he'd never heard of it, the other guy said they had it and opened a cabinet where a bunch of copies were sitting. None on the shelf yet, though.

I have literally no idea what this game is or what it is about or what it even looks like other than the screenshots on the back. All I know is that some people think it's the best of 'Operation Rainfall', and Xenoblade and Last Story turned out to be awesome, so... I don't often spend good money on something I know nothing about, I'm trusting you guys on this one!

Also, this 'last story' is my 99th retail Wii game. So damn close to 100. Oh well.

If I get off work in time i'll go get it from GS tonight. I had it pre-ordered so i hope they don't sell it.

Was hoping this wouldn't be so scarce so soon but apparently it already sold out at a couple of local Gamestops :O

Even though I bought the game I had zero intention of playing it, Until I read this two comments. This game just moved up my queue list.

Score. 1 copy left at my local GS.

This is the reversed cover (I was hoping for the PAL black cover)

Mine came a day early!

As soon as I eat and squeeze in a workout, I'm playing this until sleepy time.

Damn right, me too! I'm headed out to workout and then I'll play this game till I pass out tonight. It arrived from Amazon this afternoon. Time to play the last of the trilogy.

Just bought it. Wasn't really planning to, but you guys convinced me. So I just finished watching the trailers and reading the reviews, and it seems to actually be something right up my alley.

I could have sworn there was some negative press surrounding this back when Rainfall began. Maybe that originally shaded my perception. At any rate, I'm looking forward to it now.

Alright, got it.
Shame it's Devil Summoner Soul Hacker's turn.

I wonder when I'll get to this...
Still barely started The Last Story and only halfway through Xenoblade Chronicles...

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I'm absolutely enthralled by this game right now. Just a fantastic experience.

Ooh dang, I didn't know there was going to be a reversible cover. That is classy.

I haven't had time to pick my preorder up yet.

So torn on this game. Part of me wants to go out and pick this up just because I have the other two Rainfall games, part of me wants to get it because I'm afraid it'll become hard to find fast, and part of me is worried about the so-so critical reception. Ugh.

I'd say if you're interested in it, just buy it now (if you have the money to spare).

If you end up not liking it, you could probably make back most of your money selling it.

Finally picked up my copy today.
Was sitting in the back like some other's mentioned when they went to pick up.
Really seems like this one is flying under the radar. Finally go to put some time into it.

The Best Buy I went to today said they weren't carrying it at all and told me to try GameStop.
I'm going to Walmart first just to check either tomorrow or Friday.

I'll probably be okay (eventually) since I pre-ordered from Bestbuy.ca where they explicitly made a certain number of copies available from the start. They must have known how many they were planning to order from the publisher.

But what I don't freaking understand is how EB Games and Amazon.ca had already begun shipping their copies out to consumers by Monday and I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for Best Buy to even get the damn shipment from XSeed. It doesn't make any sense!

Better relationship with the publisher?

Don't have a Wii or a Wii U right now, but I'm thinking it may be wise to go ahead and grab this while I still can. Is that reasonable?

Any more impressions on this game? Yes, I'm aware it came out a long time ago but not in the US. It looks like a fun game but I didn't like The Last Story too much and I loved Xenoblades.

I haven't played it yet but it's very much an entirely different thing from Xenoblade or The Last Story. It's probably not even worth comparing to them. From what I understand, if you like action games with some interesting mechanics and ideas, and don't mind a bit of jank, you'll get a lot of mileage from PT.

There's really not any jank in Pandora's Tower, though. It's actually a VERY polished game on the whole. Feels exceptionally well-designed and well thought-out.

But yeah, as Zeer0id stated, this is an action RPG with its greatest emphasis on action, exploration and atmosphere. If you enjoy the darker Ys games (like Ys Origin), any Castlevania games or Nier, you'll probably really enjoy Pandora's Tower as well.

They all get their product from the same distributor in Canada, it's just a matter of how much of a priority each retailer puts on getting it to their customer as quickly as possible. GameStop/EB Games will always be the quickest since not only is that their major competitive advantage over the other retailers, but they've been doing it for so long they got it down to a science.

I hope everyone enjoys the game. I'm actually surprised someone said it earlier but this is my favorite game for the Wii after Little King's Story as well! It had everything I could have asked for in a game- intimate story and cast, refined gameplay, enjoyable dungeon design (with my favorite dungeon by far being the last one in the game). I love how it doesn't hold your hand, but rather, if you know where to look, you can figure things out on your own and feel good about figuring things out on your own. It hit that balance for me.

Obviously, I'm biased, but I really do hope everyone who has been waiting to play it enjoys it as much as I did.
