Path of Exile |OT| Loot 3.0

My dumb ass bought a mirrored 6 link chest for 10 chaos. Didn't realize I couldn't scour it or anything. Live and learn :(
Mm I did something similar and bought a corrupted helm for Uber lab enchanting. Ended up selling it to some other sucker so I guess it all worked out.

Sold a lot of my uberlab loots today. Made 4 Exalts in a couple hours of playing. Now that I made a character that makes traps a non issue, I'm enjoying Uber lab now. Should have enough for a Kaoms Heart by the end of the week.

Then I want to farm up a TS/LA character. Or a wander. I don't know yet.

Can someone point me to a good starter build to get familiarized with the game?

I'm not interested in getting the highest end-game stuff at the moment, I just want to experience the main game. But if I don't have at least a vague goal of where I want to get my character, I get paralyzed with all the choices this game gives you. The dependency on (what I think are random drop) gems for builds and the massiveness of passive skill tree is overwhelming :(

I can play any kind of character (melee, ranged, magic), but I'd need something clear to work towards in my progression.

I went with ZiggyDs Scorching Ray build, as I like fiery lasers.

It's ridiculously strong - I haven't event started using righteous fire and merciless labyrinth was very easy.

Although it's very easy to play, some of the quirks behind it are rather complicated before if you just follow the advice in the guide it all works out and is a hoot to play.

I think I'm going to try this after work. I have a templar in the 80's so I'll just gear him up and see how it goes. Looks strong.

I'm currently doing dual weild Sunder in Harbinger which is decent but no 6 link yet.

See if they can be sold for 1 chaos or more online. Otherwise just vendor it.

Any rare jewelry at ilvl 60 and up should be saved for chaos recipes (but do put them in a tab with 1 chaos buyout since you never know if someone actually want that ring you think is useless).

A chaos recipe is a full set of rare gear with ilvl 60+ that you then sell to a vendor. Don't just vendor shit for scraps when it is so easy to get chaos from all the crap you pick up that ends up being useless.

So I don't know a ton about this game, but I'm playing with a couple of friends at the moment and I decided to make a Shadow.

I'm using a bow and I'm trying to go all in on poison damage (I guess bleed as well but I haven't found much for that yet). Is this a viable tactic long term?

As long as you have a plan on good passives to pick up that will work with your build and find some good legendary that benefits you in some way, then most builds are viable to some extent. You might not be able to get very far in maps, but I think it's a good learning experience to not just strictly follow a build guide as a new player. And don't be afraid to use respec points every now and then if you feel like you made some mistakes. You get plenty of them for free if you do all optional quests in the story.

Someone said it best. Don't remember who, but he was a PoE streamer.

There are X builds that are completely broken. Below that are many builds that are great. Then below that are A LOT builds that are simply viable. The difference between builds is speed, complexity and effort required. But at the end of the day they all get the job done.

Atm I would rate ailment builds (poison etc) as something that require a lot of knowledge on how game works. Can't say about how fast they are.

Playing with friends can make things easier and faster. Esp. If your builds synergize.

It's just more efficient to not even Id certain Ring bases and then go for the 2x recipe.

I generally don't vendor jewelry myself unless I id'd them.

You can also go for the quintuple recipe where you can turn in 5 id'd rings that are same base to get a new one that is unid.

You would have to be more specific with what you want here.

For most new players I recommend playing a Melee life based, non crit Marauder or Duelist build. Something like Slayer (which is an ascendancy of Duelist) Cyclone/Earthquake or something like Berserker Sunder build. Get something tanky that does good AOE damage and is tanky.

You can just look up builds for these.

I personally really really like anything that is Ranger - Duelist based. Last league I played Cyclone Raider and this league I am playing Frostblade Raider, both I enjoyed. I like Ranger because it's easy to make it move around fast but it's less tank than other options.

Here's a good example of Earthquake build that also goes over basics of build making in POE (most of this should apply to 3.0 as well, maybe you change around gems):

The masters level are account wide. You shouldn't have to level them all back up again.

that's pretty good, on day 3 or so I had an astral plate with

117 (T1) Life
+140 (T2) Armour (why couldnt this be life + armour?)
78% (T3) Armour
51 (T1) Strength
48% (T1) Fire Resistance
43% (T2) Cold Resistance

absolutely busted, best rare i've ever IDd

Don't think I've ever had a rare that good. I had a 550 es shield drop in legacy. But it didn't have spell damage on it. Still sold for quite a bit.

Unfortunately the gloves came out of a corrupted box. It's not going to sell for that much. Which is a bummer.

I'm using this build too but I find myself to be a bit squishy. All the energy shields on gear is worthless because it's constantly at 0 from righteous fire burn. No evasion, no %block past the base rise of the phoenix, and very little armor means I get hit hard by physical damage. I have 5.7k life. Anything I should be doing?

So I just found this from a T9 map after getting DC'd from the lab... I ain't even mad.

Though I am mad that Neversink updated his filter to remove the exalt sound for this ring. It deserves it.

I gotta say, I'm really glad I went RF Zerker this league. Lab has been kind to me, and I'm at 9.4k life (lvl 89). Just working on getting an opal ring with fire damage, 60 life, base lightning damage for EE, and 30% cold and lightning resists.

Yeah... I'm gonna have to stick with my coral ring aren't I? :p

Lol standard is so dead and I wanted to mess with a scorching ray build. I had to respec my Raider Frostblades build just to level gems for it. I couldn't even buy any to start at a reasonable damage output. Ping pong Frostblades is fun though :)

Decided to do a quick uber lab before work this morning. It was a great decision. 9 Key run. I got a Death's Door drop, and a 20q gem drop, and a decent enchant on a helmet.

If everything sells for what I listed them for, it'll come out to around 350-400c from that one run alone.

This boggles the mind. I was going to build a cheap lab farmer for currency just for Uber but I never get around to it. It's seems like the only way to get crazy currency to buy the highest end game items.

I'm having such a horrible past couple of PoE days. I upgraded to a six link and I have a better weapon, but I keep dying horribly to content my five linked character was doing just fine. I built up so much EXP from doing safer maps too and lost about 3 offerings trying to farm lab.

... Maybe it's because I never changed my pantheon powers back to the phys reduction ones.

EDIT: I still never put fortify on leap slam, I need to do that ASAP

I still prefer high end mapping over Uber Lab simply because I dislike Labs. But yeah its hella lucrative these days.
I hate how basically it's the only random maze trap thing in the game. I much prefer mapping as well. I have so many characters that have never even done Uber lab.

This is my first league doing it. It's pretty easy and guaranteed 6 keys now every run so it's pretty profitable.

That was my first really good run after about 30 runs so far. Most runs makes 10-15c or so. With every few runs getting about 50c then the rare on like this that makes a lot of currency.

My biggest sale so far before this run was 50c and that wasn't even from lab. Haha.

I used to hate lab because of those damn traps. But since I got my phys mitigation up to 70% it rarely gets my down past 50% life. Made life a lot easier. Plus with the guaranteed 6 keys now and that vastly improved darkshrines it's quite fun now.

Wait. Are you saying if I level up Zana to lvl 7 this league, I will have her at lvl 7 at start of next temp league?

I thought he was referring to making new characters within the same league. I misunderstood his post.

Finally managed to beat endgame Labyrinth and got a bunch of +19% quality gems for my effort. Hopefully the good ones get me 19 chaos sold.

I also figured out that you can go back after beating Izaro to open silver key doors. Of course my internet cut out during this time.

Lab has been really good for me. I make 10c or more each run (after considering the cost of the offering), and I've gotten 2 6L corrupted items (20c each) and a Deaths Door. I'll be making RF Berzerkers as my league starter until they nerf.

No good enchant yet.

I haven't had a good lab enchant yet after about 30 runs. But that'll come, too. I want to do the lab end game grind then use the currency from it to fund my next build.

I did RF Jugg and the phys mitigation makes the lab incredibly easy. This will be my league starter until they nerf RF. Which will probably happen next league since RF seems to be the next big meta

If you don't have a build that always has phys% mitigation (or gets it mostly through armor and temporary buffs like my build), you can use the Ralakesh pantheon node to reduce physical DoT, which applies to trap damage. I switched to using it and noticed a huge difference.

You can also grab a brass dome for shitty high damage Izaro days.

Even with the % more damage taken from the Berserker tree I can rush through all traps and heal through them (with RF off). Dousing flasks are helpful. 9.4k life also helps.

I was feeling ballsy. Had a jewel with damage, area damage, and fire damage. I decided to slam it. Got physical damage on the slam.

I don't even know how to price it. Not a single jewel on SC with those mods on it.

What's RF?

Righteous Fire. Basically light yourself on fire to create a fire field that also burns everything around you. Does damage based on your maximum health (to both you and enemies) rather than scale off your spell damage (though it will scale with elemental / fire / burning modifiers).
