Sounds good. Jenkins is a great choice for director and seeing she has a plan for this movie is reassuring. It's cool that pilot-centric stories are having more and more prominence recently in Star Wars universe.

i dont consider anything out of the supervision of george lucas to be star wars

but i did enjoy rogue one

and if this is supposed to be a story about a fighter pilot just with a star wars "skin", then count me the fuck in, baby

There's going to be a whole lot of strong woman. In fact, I expect MC to be a woman, or a male who is useless without a female carrying the weight. I've only watched through Awakens and Rogue one and kind of knew I was done.

We'll see how WW84 turns out but at least Jenkins can balance humor and action as well as frame an action scene. Not a fan of the end of WW and WW84 looks to have even more CGI but for a space fighter movie it will be more appropriate.

Sticking to the OT well is a good call, let's just pretend the ST never happened and slowly retcon the PT into something usable.

This could be great but I wish they would do something else with Star Wars. I would like to see something else than X-Wings and Rebels.

Interesting.

But I expect a full woke interpretation for sure.
I just hope the diversity brush gets applied to the Empire as well. It irks me that the rebellion is now presented as a diverse mix of humans and aliens while the empire is almost all white dudes (Mando as an exception).

In ANH BOTH sides were all white guys as a limitation of the times and the location for filming. So while I'll tolerate the empire being somewhat xenophobic (although we see them use aliens all the time) there is no good reason why the command structure should be just white men (unless the republic before them was also all white dudes).

Anyway, hope there is a good war story at the bar of this, not an IDpol morality play.

And NO FUCKING JEDI!

I've never cared much about the air battles, but watching that video without sound (working) caught my attention. Sure seems she is in tune with the pulse of old school fans to me, so color me excited to see how this ends up.

All they have to do is mix elements of top gun with Star Wars and they have something interesting.
Good point. At least by ANH the Academy is still open so you could start it there.

But part of me hopes that there is a locker room scene that shows all those masked imperial pilots that were slaughtered by the dozens in the films were all super girly tween asian chicks who thought it was all a game until they started getting blown up by Antifa rebellion pilots :)

I don't really want the Empire to be humanized but nor does it need to be absolutely DEhumanized.

Wonder if they will take inspiration from the rogue squadron books. Wedge Antilles better be the lead.
