Payday 2 |OT| See you at the safe house.

HK-47

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Big Oil day 2 is incredibly easy if you can find the two notepads that show what type of gas is used and how many hoses are connected to the big blue tank, also one computer usually shows if the gauge on the engine reads over or under 400 BAR. If you have all 3 you're pretty much assured getting it on the first time. If not, then have a nice time waiting lol.

I really do wish they would add more XP for the 2/3 days missions though. They honestly don't seem rewarding enough as it is, especially on console where they still haven't patched in the new XP amounts from the last PC patch.
They should add card drops for each part of the multiday missions and change cash drops to xp

HK-47

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
No, I'm talking about extra escapes that weren't there in between the days, unless I'm completely mistaken / remembering wrong.

If you fucked up a stealth mission in the multiday missions you always had a chance of getting an escape.

Is there a good tutorial of all the little things a person should know when playing. Only started recently so haven't put much time. Thought the safe house was going to be a training ground but it really doesn't teach you all the little details of the game and I hate being the one to fuck up heists.

For me, an ammo bag spawned on top of a high rock that was unreachable and on the very edge of an invisible wall. This stuff doesn't even surprise me anymore.

Or they get dropped in the top of a tree, out in the valley beyond the house, etc... So basically I wasted money buying the ammo asset, not that I need the money, but still.

Have you checked the Guides section of the community hub on Steam?

I was also a little disappointed at the lack of a real tutorial. There are so many little things that you pick up just by playing with people that are unexplained.

I'm loving the armor and ghost changes. It helps differentiate the classes better, though I don't think it's enough as of yet. Going for a hidden armor build can be a bit of a hassle.

Also, this really does feel like an early access game in some ways.

Are they going to patch the "Firestarter" and "Rats" farming? I'm tired of playing them. Whenever I choose another heist, sometimes it takes a while for people to join if they join at all. I really like Nightclub and Jewlery Store but they never pay well. They should allow for all of the heists to have a chance of paying high. I don't understand why it's certain ones. Another problem I have with this game is the cards. The entire feature doesn't make sense. Why can't we just buy the weapon customizations and masks we want? Maybe use the cards for just random cash. But I really do love this game. The gameplay is a huge improvement over the first.

this frequency of updates kind of makes me wonder if this game would do ok as a f2p game

you can buy masks and mods and exp/cash boosts for $$$ or get them through random drops like it's in the game right now.

So apart from the awesome gun play mechanics, I think payday 1 was better in all aspects. I ran the world bank level so many times over the year I played payday 1 and never got bored but payday 2 just isn't holding my interest past level 50.
Money becomes pointless, which in a game all about robbing is quite a big oversight. I don't have anything to spend it on.

so that leaves leveling up for spec points and collecting weapons/masks

well the game refuses to give me the loot I want for the guns I have and use so I ended up just using the op double shotgun which needs zero mods...

On the spec side I pretty much have everything I need so even that feels like a pointless grind at this stage.

payday 1 had so much to archive, overkilling each mission felt like a real achievement and then again for 145+ and getting your gold mask felt great like you had become this amazing criminal.

Payday 2 I'm robbing some tiny shops for petty cash, a small bank... and smashing some windows in a mall like some angry teenager.

Overall it feels like the beginning of a good game but sadly the middle and end is missing.
I agree with about half of what you say, but the line I bolded is what got me. I knew Payday 2 was going to be different. And I could feel it was, though I couldn't put my finger on it. This is it. Every heist in PD1 you were stealing millions and millions. Some of the ones in PD2 say 130k, which is a paltry sum in comparison. It could be the locations, but then again I have not been able to spend a ton of time, I am currently level 32, and I have yet to play all the levels. But again....like you said...small town banks, 4 small stores, breaking stuff in a mall? I like my Diamond Heists, Slaughterhouses, Panic Rooms better D;

All in all, I think I like PD2 better, but many areas do feel lacking from others. Yea people complain about the gun mods, but did any of you play PD1? You all should be thankful you can even modify your weapons in PD2. In the first game, each weapon had a very specific way of leveling, that was tied to your class level. Once you got to a certain point, you unlocked a new upgrade for a weapon. Some of the guns didn't upgrade for about 10-20 levels, too. None of this 5 scope options, different grips, 3 different silencer crap. One pistol was silenced, and 2 smgs were as well. Didn't want to use those? Tough crap, no silence for you if you don't.

If money has become pointless, and you are bored with the game, why not respec your character with the gobs of cash you say you have and try to play the game totally differently? Instead of using OP guns, switch to all silence just for fun. Use single shot rifles and the Desert Eagle. No armor. Or run around like a madman with the saw, channeling your inner serial killer?

The PD games were never perfect. In overkill modes in PD1 you could watch guard layouts change as you moved through the level. Not only that, but you could back up and move forward and almost direct the guards every movement. I've already witnessed this in PD2. Yes there was a beta, but no way there were the vast numbers playing then compared to what is happening now. Give the game a little time, and come back to it. They are already patching the PC version like crazy, which sucks for us ps3 owners. We have to deal with stuff for much longer than your Steamers...you all should feel lucky they are working so hard on the game and that you can test things out.

I don't know if you guys have been paying attention to David Goldfarb's twitter or not, but he's been posting pics of a two stage safe they may be putting into the game so you can't just insta-blow it with C4.

I'm a Mastermind/Tech build right now and do use C4, but it just get's boring after a while, I think this will be a welcome addition. It will make the Ghost's lock pick skill even more viable.

Thank CHRIST! I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with that system from a design perspective. It has a ton of potential, but the execution is sorely lacking...

It seems like they're on the right track though.... so hopefully it will end up something like this:

  • Improved chance for mods for weapons you already own at lvl 1-35
  • Improved chance of mods for weapons you don't own at lvl 35+ to boost exploration
  • Eliminate drops of items you already own ENTIRELY (excluding useables like mask patterns)
  • Break mask drops into lvl segments with 3-4 variations, including one rare drop, available per 10 lvl tier
  • Increased chance of material drops, also segmented into tiers

So I went from lvl 12 to 32 last evening. I had this amazing group that would keep rocking the place over and over again. It was a fantastic experience. It wasn't long heists but we had the risk factor set to 3 stars. We're talking about 1 or 2 days jobs like Nightclub, four stores, jewelry store, nightclub, the coke job, etc.

My Mastermind went from totally clueless to incredibly efficient.

I love that game so much...I hadn't played an online FPS with such passion since many years.

Just started following him. He's been posting some of the new masks (sorry if old)

Hi gang!

Time for a really good Friday Update!

As always, big thanks to you who's been voicing your opinions in a friendly, civilized manner. We salute you!

Lots of new features and goodies coming your way. Bain's been working on Crime.net and is ready to take Crime.net to the next level.

The update is roughly 64mb in size.

Have fun!

Change-log for Update #10 - 20130830

Crime.net

New seeding for Crime.net contracts. All available contracts will have a chance to be displayed. No more waiting forever for a contract to appear.
New Crime.net filter where you can filter on specific contracts.
You can now buy contracts available on Crime.net. Bain will set you up for a fee deducted from your Offshore Account.

Gameplay

For all stealth crews out there, you can now highlight cameras as long as the alarm hasn't been triggered.

Interaction

Fixed an issue where we changed the interaction point for lockpicking safes, making it work better

Safe house

Due to popular demand from the community, we've improved the safe house vault - if you're rich enough, you'll know what we mean ;)

Juggernaut - Ace - Sprint and shoot upgrade added to the skill
Kilmer - Ace - Sprint and reload upgrade added to the skill

Stubby can move me modded on the CMP Submachinegun
Silenced guns are much better silenced - Try it and see if you like it!

Infamous ALT Space bug and BEEP keyboard is gone + dead + no more!

Have a great weekend.

Almir
OVERKILL - a Starbreeze Studio.

Is this playable w/ just two people?
For the contracts that aren't Mule Simulator 2013, yes. I think Watchdogs would be a bit annoying on higher difficulty levels, due to having to lug around 8 bags while being constantly assaulted.

I'm guessing they'll probably wait until a big update that adds something significant to the game, so far its been bug fixes, balancing and a few improvements, that is if MS and Sony still charge for patches.

I don't think they do anymore. The certification process though... fuuuck

I really hope they patch the console versions soon just for the XP tweaks alone, I hate doing 2-3 day overkill pro jobs only to be awarded next to nothing XP wise. 50,000 is good, but it's nothing compared to making 120,000 or more like on PC now.

Am I missing something here? Last night, I was playing with nothing but randumbs on PS3, and they were all raging about the security cameras being taken out. PD1 that was the numero uno thing done anywhere when the heist started, camera's got knocked out. Did they add something to the game I missed, where you actually want to keep them around?

I guess I can see the reason of one of the crew members looking at the feeds, but to me that is just dumb because the feeds are either far away for right next to the cameras. Maybe it's just my thinking that if you have time to check the cameras, you have time to be shooting instead?

When the guards spot destroyed cameras in 2 they sound the alarms. I always take out the guards first using dominator then destroy the cameras. It's a bitch though when the cameras are in terrible spots, then you almost have to destroy them regardless.

Thanks, that does make sense. I've heard you can disable all the cameras if you can get to the security room without an alarm, too.

But after the stealth is blown, (as was the case last night), they were still raging about it, and I was silently laughing to myself.

That's Alex for you. Bain has a dialog line about it.

Everyone hates Alex. He's terrible.

It started with Panic Room.

"You guys gotta clear tha roof!"

*no cops anywhere but it says we are in an assult*

Fuck youuuu Alex.

If the game had a final boss it would be him.
