Lighting and assets look more like the new version or Crysis 3 island map but I'll take your word for it.Nope. Og 2007 Crysis.
Regrettably.What is Linus
Does tech tips guy have his own platform now?
Yeah, I feel the same.Same, but already mid last gen. For me there is no more reason for consoles, except maybe a Switch 2. We have the most exclusive games + endless mods, yet the console fanboys fight over there few games like toddlers. The current Astro Bot thread for example is too funny.
You'll never go back to playing consoles but you were in the astrobot thread saying how astrobot was worse than mario odyssey and how odyssey was objectively a great game. How could you possibly judge both of those games if you don't game on consoles and you're all in on PC like you're claiming in this post??
Have you seen Sony’s storefront? This is actually one of their biggest problems for discoverability.Well, yeah, but 90% of this is shovelware. PC basically has no entry barrier.
I wish I still had friends at a major UK games retailer so I could get insight like this, I didn't realise it was that strong for PC.
For me the main key point for still beeing a console player is the simplicity
(Beeing able to turn it on with a pad, only updates are Game and OS Updates, everything already configured for pad useability, perfect for couch gaming), and beeing able to use game sharing, so I can use one game or subscription on two consoles at the same time.
Power consumption on PC is something people should not forget too.
Having options is always nice, but most of the time I just want to play on my couch and big TV without fiddeling around with Windows/Drivers etc.
Yeah bit of a self fulfilling loop there.
"Why buy better hardware if the games aren't going to take advantage of it?"
"Why develop games for high end hardware if the average consumer doesn't have it?"
Back in the 90s and 2000s games would come out that made you want to upgrade your hardware just to play them. I feel like that doesn't really happen anymore. For better or worse.
Well since they switched over to basically of the shelf PC parts, they are just PCs with more comfy OS.It's an example of how lame consoles have gotten that PC is turning heads away at all given all the benefits you just listed. No one would bother getting off their ass to do anything unless the deal had gotten that much worse.
A $2k 5090 with fake framesIt’s quite funny where we are now, and who could blame them? These consoles are just glorified mid gen (if that) pc’s. The last exotic console was the ps3 with its cell architecture, its so sad that Cerny didn’t care to take creative freedom with ps4/5 the same way Yoshida did. All Xbox games and pretty much most PlayStation games make their way to pc’s at some point, and the waiting gap is getting smaller as time goes on. Who could’ve seen this coming?
PC is at the top again wow, I actually love that. Creative custom spec feature that doesn’t abide by dev presets which most of the time have that nasty ghosting taa in many console games. Seriously what’s the point of the ps6? Another amd cpu/gpu? What’s going to be the new secret sauce this time? We’re so many years into the generation and all we’ve had with the ps5 ssd is fast loading times…that’s great? But what about loading uncompressed textures or using the ssd as RAM like it was alluded to in the beginning? That never happened and probably won’t for many many years. I’m going to keep maxing out my pc and buy a switch 2 since those games won’t be available anywhere else.
On the one hand I hope this encourages developers to go back to making AAA PC exclusives that really utilize the hardware to makes games that a console just couldn't handle, like Crisis back in the day.
On the other hand, thanks to console first development I've been able to happily game on a 2080 for almost 6 years. I don't want to buying a new card every 2 years lol.
The average pc which is about as strong as a ps5 is also responsible for not making those games anymore.
It didn't. Was another "downgraded" version on Cryengine 3 and without the mods that there are on that screenshot. The more interesting news is that there are more developers working on VR than gamepass and Switch 2. And that it has 114% of devs working on it!
Back in 2013? That came to console too. At least post star citizen or something.
I love pc gaming at a desk with a keyboard and mouse but until Windows 11 gets better gamepad support and more reliable HDR and surround sound implementation I will stick with consoles for my home theater. For me the main key point for still beeing a console player is the simplicity

I mean the article said that 19,000 games released on steam in 2024. That’s more than the PS5, Xbox and Switch combined in one year.Wasn't this always the norm? Like the amount of games releasing on PC dwarfs anything on all consoles combined or is it because of PCMR having like defacto BC that the library is gigantic
Just please stay away from 18.000 of them, for your own good.I mean the article said that 19,000 games released on steam in 2024. That’s more than the PS5, Xbox and Switch combined in one year.
It already has all of that.I love pc gaming at a desk with a keyboard and mouse but until Windows 11 gets better gamepad support and more reliable HDR and surround sound implementation I will stick with consoles for my home theater.
And only 95% will be crappy indie and porn games.

And who exactly will finance all those big SP AAA projects then when there is no more consoles? It won’t be long but eventually PC will swallow the whole market and we won’t have to deal with such situations.
Wrong - money and time are limited resources that companies compete for. There is no reason every game shouldn’t be on PC. Good for gamers. Good for business and profits.
The only people who have a problem are those that dont understand that most AAA PC ports wouldnt exist without consoles to begin with! The only people who have a problem are the fanboys and wahhh why does PC get to play it better?? How could Sony betray us like this???
beeing able to use game sharing, so I can use one game or subscription on two consoles at the same time.
Everyone buying the games on PC as would be the only option. And who exactly will finance all those big SP AAA projects then when there is no more consoles?
No.More competition = lower chance that your product will succeed.
Rising risk is not good for business or profits!
"Make better games" means spending more money on the games or the marketing.No.
More competition = companies have to make better games.
Come on now, you cant be that naive - games are a business!Who gives a shit about business or profits? This is great for gamers.
I have an older gaming pc hooked up to my AVR that I recently upgraded to Windows 11. Windows 10 had a setting to enable 5.1 audio. In Windows 11 it’s just…missing. I’m not sure why but I couldn’t find it in settings anywhere. I could probably dig through google and find a solution but that’s the point of my comment. I don’t want to. With a console I just check the box and it works. It already has all of that.
Doesn't have to. No need to spend more if you spend smart: improve management, reduce the unnecessary workforce and scale down if needed to, because bigger doesn't always mean more fun."Make better games" means spending more money on the games or the marketing.

Why do you think PC only AAA games have died off?
Have you looked at PSN or eShop stores lately? The latter is full of same crap as Steam.Well, yeah, but 90% of this is shovelware. PC basically has no entry barrier.
I agree that bigger doesnt mean more fun, but the point is that any sort of big AAA Singleplayer game that the PC is getting as port nowadays would simply cease to exist.Doesn't have to.
