Yea I know the GF4 MX sucks but I'd just swap it with the ti4200 in my current system anyway and sell my current system to my dad...

Apparentally that mobo is a budget type mobo? What should I ask for instead?

Get an intel 865 or 875 board. Asus is good.
Edit: Actually the SiS based boards are supposed to outperform even the 875 chipsets. Totally forgot about that.

If you can live without 2 optical drives, get a good 16x DVD-RW-DL for $99.

Prescott based cores aren't that effective most of the time. If you can save with a Northwood you might as well go cheap. If it's only a few bucks or same price then I'd probably keep the CPU the same.

I see

Well I e-mailed my uncle back asking what Asus boards he can get

Wow, trying to read up on types of Mobos out there just confuses the hell out of me lol

I don't know what I'm looking for

I just want a Mobo that won't bottleneck or slow down the stuff i'm getting

Well unlesss you're going for expensive Prescott set up, or go Athlon 64, then I suggest that board.

DUDE!! Don't get that!!

Shuttle XPC SB83G5
Intel LGA 775 Pentium 4 520 2.8 GHz, 800MHz FSB
Kingmax 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200
XFX nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT PCI-E
Seagate 200GB 7200RPM
NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW
Total = $875

All from newegg off the shelf.

Your system was totaled about the same.

Nerevar

they call me "Man Gravy".
I just upgraded to AMD64, and it's incredible how much of a difference it makes. I'd really recommend going that route. The processors are faster, have better value, and run cooler. There's really no reason to buy an intel other than "brand name" anymore.

Ok my uncle says that Asus boards just cost more and are no better then the DFI one that has a better warranty and shit

Haha

I e-mailed asking how much a DL DVD burner would cost and what kind of performance differences a higher quality mobo would have

And I'm probobaly going to get a black case, not a beige one

Scratch the black case...the cd drive won't be black so that will look shitty :p

16x DVD burner is about 100

And really, what advantages do the higher end motheboards really have? Is it just that they can o/c more?

Hey asshat, why don't you just cut to the chase and ask your uncle and stop bothering us. Obviously you only want to hear what you want to hear.
