PCGaf: 2 years after launch, who doesn't have neither ps4 nor xb1 still?

Nothing tempting enough yet. I'll buy both at some point probably. Everything multi-platform will always be PC for me.

I'd have gotten one for NHL 15 if that game wasn't absolute garbage though. Maybe NHL 16 will be the game that sways me and then I'll pick up the other titles I'm interested in. TLoU is primary among them, but there are a few others coming.

I bought a WiiU and then a PS4. Sometimes I regret buying the PS4 since most games I was looking forward to are released on PC (mgsv). However, I think in a year it'll all be worth it. Bloodborne and Persona will be great.

Most of my friends have PS4's anyways so I'm sure it'll all be good.

I don't want to go in a debate about personal tastes and what people care or don't care about, but since there are at least a couple of posters wondering "How can you be content sticking to PC only and missing out on these new consoles?" here's the honest and simple answer:

I bought my new PC roughly a year ago, just after my previous (seven years old) one died on me (well, a single part, but it was actually so obsolete at this point it wasn't even worth spending money trying to salvage it).
The new one is not a powerhouse, but it's fairly good (i5 4670k and a GTX 770) and outperforms both modern consoles without too much effort.
What I can play on it? A good 85-90% of what comes on these consoles, plus a fairly large library of PC exclusives (and some emulation too, as we are at it).

Why I don't feel the urge to catch up on this 10-15% of console titles I'm "missing out"?
Several reasons. On top of my head:
First, at least so far they don't happen to have nothing I'm actually particularly interested in.
Second, every time I'm thinking if the purchase would be worth, I find myself coming to the conclusion that my budget is not limitless (far from it) and there's a lot of better stuff I could actually spend 400 bucks on (more games? A Gsync monitor? An even more powerful GPU? Stuff that isn't gaming-related..?).
Third, and related to the second point (probably an extension of it, in fact), I'm not too fond of the idea of buying a redundant device that does what my PC already does, just slightly worse, only because a very limited selection of titles is deliberately kept from it, in the same way I wouldn't buy an additional television just to watch some exclusive channel.

So, yeah, I would eventually give a chance to Second Son or Sunset Overdrive, if they didn't came with a 400 bucks entry fee, but since it's not like I'm *craving* to play them, as it is they are making extremely easy for me to virtually ignore their existence.

I'm on PC, Wii U, and 3DS.

There's waaaaaay too much overlap with the consoles. There are a few exclusives on both PS4 and Xbox One that make me want to buy them.

Can one of the people tell me what amazing console games I am missing out on by being PC only? (minus the WiiU since I'll probably get it by the end of 2015)

Nothing probably unless you are a fan of the manufacturer specific IP's. Until Bloodborne anyways.

I got a PS4 but Sony kind of forced my hand with the white PS4 and then again with the 20th edition anniversary console.

Specifically the games I plan to play on the PS4 are The Order, Bloodbourne, Uncharted 4, infamous second son(in progress) and GTA V(also in progress). I know GTA V comes out on PC but a lot of my buddies are playing it on PS4 and I want to play with them online.

Was on the verge of buying a PS4 many times, because by pc couldn't run new games. But then it died and I got a new one instead.

Not much of an inconvenience because of the almost complete and utter failure of AAA games this year. Not missing anything important until Bloodborne.

Same as me, i was planning on getting a PS4 and then my GTX480 finally died a couple of weeks ago (i was aiming to hold onto to it for as long as possible), so instead of the PS4 i purchased a new GPU and after a week i said sod it and bought a new motherboard and CPU as well.

Skint now and the PS4 is no longer coming to me soon, and its so nice to play all my games maxed out once again (and Star Citizen on very high with +30fps is just gravy).

I've dropped consoles completely. Nothing against them, but I'm not into a closed-in hardware platform and exclusives don't entice me to the point of dropping money on them. I will say Xrd and Bloodborne almost have me jumping the gun, but that's it.

For me personally I felt playing The Last of Us completely justified my PS4 purchase. My PS4 could die tomorrow and I wouldn't be mad at all, having got to play TLOU. For me its hands down the best video game I have ever played.

Weirdly I initially justified my PS4 purchase as a backup to my PC, since it was nearly 18 months old I wanted something in case my PC died but have slowly preferred playing on the TV in the living room with family over in my office on PC.

MK8 and Bayonetta also easily justified my Wii U purchase, even though I detest the Nintendo hardware/software designs and have had technical issues with their systems.

I think the PC misses out on a big chunk of the big budget racers, due to their exclusivity. GT, Forza, and now Drive Club. We get the ones EA and Codemasters do at least, but I do love me some Forza, and I think Drive Club looks great. (In anticipation of the "PC has <racing game>" replies, trust me, I know, and I've probably played it. There's nothing wrong with also wanting the console games too.)

Sunset Overdrive looks pretty good too. There's a rumour of a PC version, but with Microsoft as the publisher I wouldn't hold out hope.

Then for me personally there's Little Big Planet 3, but if you're getting a Wii U you'll probably get enough mascot platformers for most.

(PC + Wii U + 3DS owner here.)

Considering that my computer currently runs recent games without much effort, I can wait some more before jumping in... The console exclusives for PS4 and XB1 that really would make me buy them aren't out yet.

Yes, I am curious about stuff like Sunset Overdrive and Infamous, but not enough to pay the entry fee for each.

I probably will get one or the other someday. But for now I have a rather large PS2/3 baklog and the lack of BC put a damper on getting a PS4 anytime soon. Space is limited. Thankfully at least the Wii U has BC.

i don't. i kept telling myself i'd buy a ps4 but now, it's looking like i'll just keep pushing it back and upgrade my video card up to a 970 instead. there's not enough appeal in the console market for me, so i may wait until there's some major price drops and cheap games available.

Not me, and I don't think it's likely that I will this generation. I already have three PCs with as much or (significantly) more horsepower than a PS4, and the console exclusives are laughably uninteresting to me (including 3rd parties).

Played TLoU on 3 though, so that can't pull me in. I have a 2560x1440 120hz IPS monitor so no TV is coming close to that, I also don't mind sitting at the PC table.

Yeah see I'm not into racers, even worse 30fps racers(this is my personal opinion not me saying the game is bad because of it, just putting it here before people go crazy), I hear Driveclub is actually great but it's just 1 game again and not worth buying a a system over, neither is bloodborne imo. Only ps4 games I am actually interested in are Uncharted 4(which I can ask my cousin to lend me his ps4 to play when it comes out) and FF15 which will end up on PC eventually.

Xbox has nothing but Scalebound that interests me so yeah...

I have over 400 steam games, bought a PS4 day 1 and lovin it. It's my main multiplatform game machine, so far fortunately it's been very competitive with my high end pc(gtx 670) so it didn't had to skip out on anything due to performance issues. Watch Dogs and AC Unity aren't missed considering how mediocre they are. In the future if a game is less than Full HD I'll avoid buying it on PS4 and get the PC version if available instead.

Exclusives concerned, PS4 will be an unmissable console starting from next year.

My PC has already 5 years-old (with upgraded graphic card recently), but can still play newest games at high graphics. I don't see the urge to own new gen consoles right away as I can still play most of the titles on my PC. I might buy a PS4 later next year perhaps, especially if FFXV is confirmed to be consoles only. Console exclusive titles as of now didn't interest me, at all. But there are titles that I really want to play in 2015, such as Uncharted 4, FFXV, KH 3, and Persona 5. As for the Wii U, I only interested in perhaps a couple of its library (released & upcoming) which doesn't justify me buying it.

Quoted for truth.

I know what you mean, I played Split/Second on PC and loved it for what it was, but it was locked at 30fps and it was always in the back of my mind that it would feel better at 60fps. If you're not into racers, the PS4/XB1 exclusives list looks pretty thin at the moment.

Still ain't got a new console. If I had more money now I'd have a Wii U. If for some reason I have a shitload of money when Bloodborne comes out I might think about getting a PS4 for it... which I will then completely ignore until Uncharted 4 comes out (and No Man's Sky depending on how far out the PC release is).

I bought a PS4 Day One and sold it for a $120 profit. I definitely stand by my decision considering the PS4 has yet to have an exclusive that I really want to play. Drive Club would be the closest, but I have my reserves about that game as well.

I don't really see why i should get a PS4 or a X1 now...or in the next years. I'll do what i did with my PS3: Getting a PS4 when it's dying.

Right now, and i don´t know, for at least 2 years, Wii U library i'ts the best one. I might pick one next year.

My girlfriend just got a PS4 for me as a gift for Christmas. Beyond a couple exclusives, I don't see myself getting much use out of it.

Amazing to know a totally thoughtless and factually incorrect thread gets 5+ pages. A late edit to correct total idiocy doesn't change anything.

Wii U/PS3/PC/3DS here.
Wii U is doing great this year, and 2015 will be better by far compared to PS4 and Xbox One. I really don't care about Sony and Microsoft.

I have none of the current gen consoles, and the one I would lean to most would probably be the WiiU at this point. Both the PS4 and XB1 are gonna get games that I can also get on the PC, whereas the WiiU typically gets games that PC doesn't, so it would be the best investment if I were looking to get value out of my console.

I don't, but I never planned to as I haven't been a console gamer since the N64 days. Hell, my laptop is a couple years old and a little slow so I have my hands full just trying to keep up with PC games. :p

I bought a GTX 970 instead. I would like to play games on every current console but not enough on any one invidually. I own every last gen console so I suppose it's just a matter of time.

*Raises hand*

First, I don't believe any console is worth spending more than $250 of my money. The only time I have ever broken this rule was with the Wii U. Even then, I only bought the system because around its release I suddenly remembered that I had a $100 gift card that was about to expire.

Second, I'm not into purchasing digital titles and I can totally live without gaming online. Right now, it seems that neither the PS4 nor XB1 have many high quality, non-broken retail titles with challenging single player campaigns. Thus, from a software perspective I can't justify purchasing either system.

It's only been a year though

And I own all consoles. I got an XBOne last week and I'm really enjoying Halo MCC's campaign (IF ONLY MATCHMAKING DIDN'T TAKE FOREVER), Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2. PS4 this year didn't get much use until later in the year with COD AW.

I'm looking forward to every major exclusive release on both XBOne and PS4 except for the Order I guess. Didn't like what I played of it.

*raises hand*

Across the PC and the WiiU, I've seen zero compelling reason to buy a PS4 yet. Bloodborne in May will be tempting, though.

I am pretty sure that my PS4 and XB1 experience will be picking them up many years down the road, playing the handful of retail exclusives (that I care about) on them and then probably getting rid of them.

Still want an XB1 for Halo Collection, but meh no motivation to shell out the $$.
Barely game enough on PC atm anyways

I'm sort of in this base. I have a couple PS4 systems that I've received as gifts, but still haven't opened yet. I don't plan on purchasing an Xbox One until more exclusives that I'm interested in are available.

I'm only waiting on Bloodborne for the PS4, but may skip it for now if MH4U releases in the same month still.

Still play 80% of stuff on my PC. Still finishing up things on my PS3/360.

I own a Wii U because of exclusives. I will get a PS4 for Bloodborne and I will get a XB1 for Sunset Overdrive.

I'm actually stepping back from both, I sold my xbox one last week, really thinking on selling my PS4. Honestly they both fine machines, but PC is were is at... like by a huge margin.

ps4 vs xbox one vs wii-u, like it has turn into a bum fight... With the state of the traditional AAA console publishing, sure they will have one nice exclusive a year... two, if we lucky. Meanwhile in PC there seems to be a interesting release almost on weekly basis.
