PCGaf: 2 years after launch, who doesn't have neither ps4 nor xb1 still?

Obviously my PC (with a 980 and Gsync monitor) is champ, but I also get to play the best versions of Guilty Gear, Halo, and Last of Us, and the only version of Resogun. Bloodborne is around the corner, and down the line I get Scalebound, Raiden V, and so on. It's all good.

I have a Wii U, 360, PS3 and 3DS too and my Steam backlog is embarrassingly long like everyone else's. Combine that with the slow release schedule of the PS4 and i'm just waiting.

I'll get a PS4 when the DMC special editions come out this summer for sure though!

Amazing to know a totally thoughtless and factually incorrect thread gets 5+ pages. A late edit to correct total idiocy doesn't change anything.
You seem to be going by the thread's title and not its content.

I happen to agree with OP's reasoning so maybe I'm biased when I think they're not an idiot:

Haven't really found any other reason to spend $300+ for a console in 2014. Maybe next year which i hope ps4 exclusives turn out ok and they actually put some effort into their holiday bundles.

I do not see a compelling enough reason so far.

TLOU is not reason enough to get a PS4, and MGS is now on PC. Maybe GT7 will change my mind. We'll see.

Don't have either yet. I have a pretty good gaming PC that's letting me play the newer releases at "High" settings so it really lessens my desire. I'm also finishing law school in May and my Wife is the breadwinner so until I'm working, hard to sell her on a $400 console that does mostly what my PC does.

I want a PS4 definitely as some of the exclusives roll out this year so I'll probably bite next winter. Hoping for a price drop or some nice bundle deals. Also probably gonna bite on a new TV around the same time and upgrade my 46".

I've been tempted to get a PS4 but haven't yet. There's a few games on it that are exclusive, but I can wait.

In the mean time, I can play Castle Crashers and LC:GotL with the wife on the TV, and other games for myself with Steam In-Home Streaming, which works surprisingly well.

I don't. THey just lack enough games that would interest me. At the rate they're gatering them I doubt I will buy either one until 2016. At this rate I might even get Wii U before PS4 or XO

I had PS3, I plan to get PS4, but not when there are only two games I want for it. Judging by the pace of appealing game creation for it, I will probably get it sometime by the end of generation.

fuck.

I typed 1 year... then changed it to 2 because I was like "It's been 2 years not 1 silly!"

fuck.

Looks like not only their hardware, but also PC gamers themselves are living in the future.

/s

LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE OP. You've warped us into the future, but sent our public image backwards!
JK, this was actually hilarious.

More on topic, I plan on getting a PS4.....eventually, but I've got other things to frivolously waste my money on first. (Like PC upgrades)

Eyeing a wii u for bayonetta and smash bros and donkey kong

sony and ms can take their paywalls and stick them up their asses

I've had at least one console every generation, so far this is the first one for me without a console

I don't want to go in a debate about personal tastes and what people care or don't care about, but since there are at least a couple of posters wondering "How can you be content sticking to PC only and missing out on these new consoles?" here's the honest and simple answer:

I have over 500 games on Steam and additional 120 games on GOG. If I can't find something in that pile I can't be satisfied with, it's time for me to leave the hobby. Period.

I don't have time for ONE platform as is, much less two or three. I honestly don't know how some of the more hardcore guys here balance all three consoles plus the rest of their lives.

Personally, getting a PS4/Xbox One would be a downgrade from my recent accent to what I consider gaming heaven. Now that I have my gaming PC connected to my 50' LED, got the Wii U Pro Controller bluetooth adapter for my PC working, I can switch between 1080p/60fps on whatever game I like right to the great Wii U exclusives with a simple press of my source button on my remote. I think I'm set until the next gen, happy times!

But PC only is a joke. You miss too many games.

Nah. Not when among those "missing games" there are barely any one finds interesting.

Especially for adults this doesn;t make much sense. Aside from games there's so many books and comics to read and tv shows/movies to watch. We live in the era of entertainment insanity. Couple this with work and personal lives and there's just isn't going to ever be enough time to play through every single game I find interesting. Sooner or later everybody realizes this and is forced to priotize. When the best console games don't even get into my top10 most wanted list for a year it's hard to justify buying a new hardware for them.

Among those games I miss there are few I would like to play. But none of them is multiplayer-centric, so there's zero rush to do so. I will catch up in 2-3 years. THose consoles and games will be cheap by then and by then each console might be able to gether those 5-6 games I consider "mustplay". Before then buying a console just doesn't make any sense for me.

I have always been a PC gamer first and foremost going back to the commodore 64 days but i have usually had one console to pair with my pc but i am done with that starting this gen. No PS4 or XB1 for me unless something drastic we're to alter my thinking on this.

I don't have a PS4 or Xbox One and I am not planning on buying any of them either, at the moment. If they release Gravity Rush HD + Gravity Rush 2 for the PS4, I might be interested on picking it up when the generation is close to ending (since the system will be a lot cheaper in a few years).

I do have a Wii U, though and it is awesome and a 3DS, which is alright.

I'm in the PS4/Wii U/3DS/Vita camp and loving it.

I got the PS4 in May and I've played the shit out of it this year. I really appreciate how much smoother the UI is compared to the PS3. I miss the XMB design a bit, but the fluidity of the PS4 makes up for it.

I got the MK8 bundle not long after and that's seen quite a lot of action between MK8, Smash, WWHD, and 3D World.

I got the 3DS at launch and am still kicking myself. I knew it'd be a Pokémon machine, but I should've waited for the price to drop because I really hate the hardware. I would've gotten it anyway because I've gotta play Pokémon, but the price was a bit steep and I had a little too much money in my pocket.

Got my Vita at launch and have had a great time with it. Remote play is amazing.

I think I can play most of the games that interest me, save for Sunset Overdrive! I'm pretty happy with my purchases.

Waiting for certain exclusives. I got an Xbone for Christmas, but I don't see any need for it at the moment so it will be Craigslist'd. Earliest game I might get a PS4 is No Man's Sky. Will depend on reviews. Otherwise, I'll wait till Final Fantasy XV.

I have a PS4 but it's been collecting dust so much that it may as well not exist in my gaming library, I don't even have it hooked up anymore. Could have totally done without getting it and should have waited for it to build up a good exclusive library. I play pretty much everything on PC with my secondary platform being the WiiU because of it's exclusives and the local multiplayer. There is already an insane amount of games to play on Steam alone so I hardly feel I'm missing out on anything.

Yeah I haven't even got the chance to go trough my steam back log wich is huge... Have yet to play Fallout New Vegas for the first time...

Let alone steam, there is also cool stuff like Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, all the Blizzard Games, some GOG RPG classic I want to try.

Simply put no time for all there is to play, at this point I coudln't care less about next year's console exclusives, at least the ones we know of.

I didn't buy a ps3 until The Last of Us and didn't really think it was worth it until I played Journey and Demon's Souls and all became right with the world again.

If Bloodborne and FFXV get good reviews though I'll be in early this gen.

I really got an itch to buy a new console right before Christmas. Then I thought about it and realized I don't care about their libraries, yet. PC and Wii U is good for me now.

jrpg, anime fighters, naughty dog titles, tekken, bloodborne, last guardian etc and nintendo titles are nice but I have already a decent desktop with limitless gaming possibilities. Had i relied on a cheap laptop i'd have bought one of those 3. Even then, i'd buy games at half the price due to the mandatory online subscription.

Haven't gotten either and don't intend to. I have a mountain of PC games to get through with no end in sight, and am looking forward to every minute of it. Currently playing through all of the Dawn of War games and having a great time. =D

You get a hell of a lot of games for that fifty bucks. That's why I have PS+, I don't even play games online.

So what? Most PC gamers have already backlogs of couple dozen of games, we dont need more games that we wont play.

----
I'm buying a PS4 when GT7 is out.
I'm basically this guy and i know i'll probably regret owning PS4 in the future, but i love this series.
But for now, there is not a single reason for me to own any current gen console or WiiU.

When Sony starts releasing more titles like No Man's Sky, and get some good party titles and something similiar to Wipeout and sutff like that read, then I would be interested in a PS4. I always had the feeling with PS3 that they wore much more interested in a varied selection of first and third party titles, so I hope that Adam Boyes work will result in something good.

But right now, as a PC gamer, I can't see any reason at all for buying the PS4 or XBOX One. What would I play? Destiny? Yeah right. :)

I'll see about getting a PS4 in 2016 or later when there's some good exclusive games to justify the purchase. That and maybe a Slim redesign.

PC only, so yeah.

I would need 36 hours days to play everything I want in pc, so there is no point in having more platforms, the limiting factor isn't number of devices but time.

I originally upgraded my PC as a stopgap until the new consoles launched. But one year in, I still don't see any reason to bother with either a PS4 or Xbone. I got a Wii U a few weeks ago, and I'm now totally content to keep holding off on the new Sony or MS console.

I plan to buy Next-gen 2 year after launch Because first 360 dead by RRoD in 8 month no warranty in my country.

But I get PS4 free from my friend 10 month ago.

I only spend money on a console if there's decent system sellers catering to gamers, not automatic cinematic linear Hollywoodian interactive experiences.
So, no. PC, WiiU and 3DS/Vita for me. I wont spend money on lowest end machines with poor games output.

Will upgrade my gpu again in 2015 tho.

To each his own, but that's a lot of games to miss. And that including books, movies and travel, all of which I do heavily.

Why wait for GTA V? Hope that RDR 2 will make it? Miss out on Uncharted/Gears/TLOU 2/God of War/Gran Turismo/Bloodborne, etc, etc, etc?

No can do, not for me.

Playing Killzone on my new PS4 last night. Looks better then any PC game I've got.

The only game console I haven't got is the Xbox One. I'm happy about that.

I'm giving you a hard time btw.

Still don't own either console. Can't justify the cost when I just built a gaming rig 18 months ago and have a massive backlog of games to play on my PC. will probably get the PS4 once Bloodborne and FFXV are out.

So what? Most PC gamers have already backlogs of couple dozen of games, we dont need more games that we wont play.

Yeah. I tried PS+ for a year and while it was nice to get games and discounts I never played most of them. Besides, You don't even own them, you just rent them.

I still don't. This is also the first time I don't own all consoles, I even gave away my PS3 and 360. I just don't care about the games that come out for these systems any more, graphics also didn't improve for me and I find that I get far more value if I use that money for my pc.

If people consider themselves gamers they cant afford to completely dismiss consoles.

That was always my opinion.

Consoles nowdays -for good or bad- are the main focus of most big developers and publishers. Couple that with first party exclusive studios and developers , and really... how can you not want to play a vast library of games that never will see the light of day in another system?

Not only that but consoles nowdays are benefiting from some exclusive 3rd party multiplatform releases as well. (granted this seems to fade away this gen)

My opinion is you need a PC and a console to enjoy most of what the industry offers. Have a good PC and either a PS4/XBOX/WiiU (depending on your exclusive 1st party taste). Best scenario is ofcourse to have them all, but that aint realistic for most people for a lot of reasons (mainly lack of time for me).

I originally planned to get a white PS4 for the launch of Destiny.

Hah.

I ended up getting a grey PS4 for #reasons.

fuck off

There are three copies of Destiny in my house now.

I can't tell if I'm winning or losing.

My PC from 2011 has been mostly keeping me entertained in the meantime.
