Are the widescreen patches just enabled when you choose 16:9 as the aspect ratio then? I can't see any options to turn on the hack.
Ah, yeah just noticed it was posted above. xD Serves me right for not refreshing the page! Was too busy trying out Suikoden III.Go to System->Enable Widescreen Patches.
Slow as in how it ran before, or slow as in worse? Its emulating actual hardware, so performance will be the same for something like SOTC that maxed out the hardware already.I installed this and ran SOTC. The frames are smooth yet the game is running slow.

The game is great. You shouldn't miss out on it.
Has the issue with diagonals on the 360 sticks been figured out? It always registered as a walk instead of run.
I really wonder if my peasant Laptop can run this emulator...
Intel i5 2450M
Intel HD Graphics 3000
Lol any chance??
Try software mode with the AVX version of the gsdx graphics plugin and the EE cyclerate speedhack maxed.I really wonder if my peasant Laptop can run this emulator...

Yup, can go back to the days when Konami wasn't just Kojima's Publishing House! Yay!Too busy having fun. Emulation is so awesome.
I had this problem, go into the sound plugin, and configure the portaudio to output in Windows WASAPI.is anyone else having problems with sound? I'm not getting any sound for some reason. Worked fine with previous versions :/
Do I need a PS2 Bios file for this emulator to work? or can I just pop in my PS2 disks and be set to go?
that totally worked, thanks!I had this problem, go into the sound plugin, and configure the portaudio to output in Windows WASAPI.
I have no idea how this works...
'DEV9ghzdrk:
Improved support for online play and make the users MAC address unique.'
Does this mean i can play socom 1 or 2 on this one online? I guess not since an emulator cant provide servers, but yeah
Honestly, probably not. You might be able to play Final Fantasy 10 with some slowdowns and some 2D games but I doubt anything other than that.I really wonder if my peasant Laptop can run this emulator...

Some games will probably run. No guarantees on what resolution you'll be able to pull off though. The emulator isn't super demanding; it really depends on the game itself, and if you're trying to do all sorts of neat stuff like super-sampling and anti-aliasing.

I resumed my Nocturne playthrough using the Widescreen hack and it looks great, but the UI and fmv elements are stretched out.
Also I guessed they fixed the shadow overlap by removing it altogether?
What's the best programme for ripping PS2 games? It might save me plugging my PS2 back in to play Rogue Galaxy
It's because the DVD is used like a data drive: the emulator fetchs the data it needs as fast as it cans and makes the drive rest when it's loaded. Such behaviour is normal for hard drives but a disc drive is much slower to start spinning. As such, everytime you load some assets there will be some slowdowns corresponding to your disc accelerating to its reading speed. On a PS2 the disc is kept spinning and the data is accessed faster (but not loaded faster though).
DVD-based slowdowns would be easy to avoid, you just need to get CDVD to keep the disk spinning and you will have the same behaviour as on a real PS2, with faster loadings. I don't know why they havent squashed that bug yet, I guess everybody plays with pirated images anyway.
[edit] I know you know, I was just expanding a bit.
Same thing with Digital Devil Saga and (judging from screenshots) Persona games.
Not really something I'd call proper Widescreen, 2D layers look terrible when stretched. :\
The Persona patches should have HUD fixes in them unless they regulated them to cheats.
.Hack//G.U. still has some haloing around characters sadly.
Yakuza is running really nicely. Ace Combat 4 is still an absolute mess in hardware mode, and software mode slows things down considerably on my i7 920.
Is there anyway to play with the DS4? I plugged it and reaches the Main Menu of FFXII but nothing happens when i press any key
