People are streaming "shows" via PS4 twitch..

Yeah we got shut down tonight, but we were just about to end the show fortunately. We've contacted Twitch about it and are hoping to get it fixed. We in no way violated their T.O.S. It's pretty frustrating. Look for us again next saturday at 11 PM EST, but if we're not on Twitch, you'll find the show on Ustream.

The previous two GAFers (me included) are still waiting to hear back from our emails from last week about what will happen to our channels/bans. Good luck with that. It was great talking to you tonight.

It was great talking to you too. Thanks so much for stirring up good discussion and asking a good question. I'd like to hold on to all the followers we gained tonight, but if we have to move to ustream, so be it. I know we didn't have a ton of viewers all at once, but it was a ton of fun doing it and we want to continue for sure.

I sadly missed out on this, but it's irritating to see all the posts in here about the channels getting shut down. I didn't post my channel on here this morning when I did mine but I was just goofing off with the camera at first, only later my stuff started talking about gaming, etc. I really, really hope Twitch can fix this crap... because that's really all it is, BS.

Yeah it's especially frustrating when it stays on gaming like we did tonight. We only branched off into a breaking bad discussion for one minute. I think that was our only non-gaming moment.

Hate to say it but I think someone in this thread is specifically targeting links posted in here....or going out of there way to let Twitch know via Neogaf.

Twitch is bullshit. I watched a few streams that had subs for kicks over the weekend. One dude literally just sat there and talked boring shit for hours. Usually talking his way into getting subs and donations. I'm surprised people are paying 5 bucks a month for this shit. They really are no different than playroom chats. So yeah fuck twitch.

It's also irritating when I saw today on PS4 a guy openly admitting and showing him smoking weed while playing Flower. Did he ever get shut down? No. Last I checked, drugs/alchol where actually against Twitch TOS. And Jed from this thread and Spartan do game shows (ok, Spartan is a stretch) and do they ever get shot down? No. Something is wrong going on over at Twitch over this issue. It's very odd.

Drew, can I ask who the mod was that shut you down? I think it might be the same guy who visited me. And maybe if it's the same mod we can all notify twitch together about the issue and it can be further looked into by them (wasn't there a big Twitch story just a few weeks ago about a mod who was demodded over an abuse of power and it was a big scandal). I know the same mod who banned me visited Jed's channel, disabled his chat temporarily, and almost banned him on his second episode because he hadn't moved his show into a certain directory on twitch or something.

When I emailed them (twice) I did send them a link to this thread (and I still suggest others do too). If I was a business I would want to know my customers weren't happen over my handling of this situation and I was losing business to a competitor (Ustream) because of my inability to handle a situation correctly. It might wake them up.

How would I go about finding the name of the mod?

No guy came in your chat claiming to be a twitch mod and asking you to shut down your stream? That has been his MO in alot of channels I go to that were shut down.

Here it begins at 6:25:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBAXnWYsDxk

His name is kanthes. He is the same twitch mod who shut me down for doing nothing. I've seen him on a few other streams with the same spiel before they get deleted. I'd be VERY careful if you see this guy in your channel.

No I had two moderators on the show monitoring the chat room and they never saw any warnings from anyone about shutting us down. It came out of nowhere.

It's kind of weird too because we even changed the name of the game in the dashboard away from the playroom like we were told to do.

Its becoming pretty silly, how can they allow people like athene to do play 4hours of league of legends in a 18hour stream, yet not allow these guys.
Even top lol players have 15-30min break between games

Well we did have this guy!

Reported it and it went down instantly. Glad twitch admins are on top of this.

UStream is mainly for used for event streaming and personality shows. Streaming this stuff there shouldn't be breaking TOS, even if it is gross.

Twitch is for games, not "shows." Take that shit elsewhere.

I hope you guys had fun watching people getting undressed by another person without their consent and other dumb/gross shit live for twitch! Guess you'll have to go to ustream or wherever the hell else.

They aren't doing anything but chatting with a bunch of shit lords. Twitch is gaming-focused, so why should twitch not ban them? Because they have "potential" for the lols or whatever the hell, right?

Look, it's clear from this thread that the majority of people just want to see people do dumb shit or commit deplorable acts. Most notably like the jackass who assaulted his wife for the enjoyment of the twitch, and I'm sure several NeoGAF members, as well. I've seen some gaffers already pop up in chat being just as awful and gross as the rest of those on chat.

Take that shit to ustream or whatever. Twitch is gaming-focused. Most of this has nothing to do with gaming AT ALL and most of these people have no interest in doing anything gaming-related with their streams.

Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just having fun. Isn't that what's important? Fun?

It was a house party. It wasn't gaming related.

Only 0.4%

Sexual assault, which is how this all got noticed to begin with.

I'm having fun by getting streams shut down.

I also don't want to see a repeat of some fucknugget taking advantage of his wife for the enjoyment of twitch viewers and GAFFers.

Bronson, I have respect for you and I'm willing to shake your hand any day but don't do that.

I'm reporting all non-gaming streams on twitch under the playroom tag.

It isn't a crusade. I'm laughing my ass off with my friends in a mumble as we flag playroom streams and they get pulled.

I also don't want to see the encouragement of sexual assault again. I suppose you can say it's the best of both worlds.

They need to resolve vile chats before worrying about the "talk show" streamers. This is not a great way to prioritize. These streams are probably 2% of all the live shows, yet 100% of the chats are gross and full of nasty non-gaming bullshit.

Well we did have this guy!

Holy shit at all those posts you quoted. I guess it's stupid to stream a party from your PS4 and chat with strangers, but it's great fun to sit around with your friends and get streamers banned.

I can agree that the people doing violent/sexual things should be banned no question, but other people are just having fun and talking about stuff like how much they enjoy their PS4s. It's a playroom, you should be able to do whatever fun things you want as long as it's safe and legal

Your chatroom for your Twitch channel is entirely your responsibility to clean up, and not the staff's or admins', so I really hope we'll see Sony and MS add moderation tools and badges at some point. If you see a particularly nasty chat, feel free to report the channel for not taking care of it. At the very least, it'll get the admins' attention if their help is required.

Oh, and if your only experience with Twitch is playroom streams, you can't possibly know what the rest of the Twitch communities are like. They're nothing like Playroom chats precisely because the streams are nothing like Playroom streams. Most people go to Playroom streams to troll, convince someone to do something stupid, or see someone do something stupid. Many of them might not even go to Twitch regularly if it weren't for the Playroom histeria. In short: Playroom chats are not indicative of the average Twitch chat.

Problem there... is there even a way for a PS4 user to ban someone through their console?

This guy is great:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/thenothing541541-s-ps4-live-show

Atheist stoner really into conspiracy theories. Enough said. Come f*ck with him, it's fun and easy. Currently talking about Paul Walker's death.

Choice qoute:

"Brian the dog from family guy died, two days later Brian died (the character from Fast and the Furious)"

Update: He just used the N word.

this guy is awesome

people with a personality like him, i could watch for a long ass time. but when people force it like the videogame shows...man, it's about entertainment, if you ain't got it you ain't got it

So is the Spartan Show still alive?

Yeah it is, hanging by a thread though. He went from 5k to 500 to 300 and can barely break 200 viewers. He says he's going to have a skype conference with one of Sony's PR guys from the UK this coming Friday. I don't even know if his show will last another week tbh.

What the fuck happened to the channel that was posted here last night? One of you guys posted a link and I don't remember the name of it for the life of me. Was a pretty good gaming discussion slash "show".

Oh the only show that was about gaming and actually good? That was banned too.

And yes Slasher you can use the camera while you play games. It's the only thing Twitch allows now.

You might be talking about our show. I'm not sure. We went by The Level Up Show, but were shut down after an hour and half or so. We're trying to get Twitch to reverse it now, but nothing yet. If it's not fixed by the weekend, we will be doing the show on ustream.

Aw, you still have hope and think Twitch will respond back to you and reverse their decision. You still have your innocence. That's cute. Me and another guy on here haven't heard from Twitch in two weeks since our bans.

Haha well I've now lost some of that hope =P Obviously, I think most of us would prefer these shows be on Twitch (you know, a gaming centric streaming service), but I'm not too upset over it with ustream being just as easy to broadcast on.

But getting an audience/getting your stuff out there is way harder. I did my first show on Ustream today and had 0 viewers vs. during the height of my popularity I had 1,800 viewers on Twitch.

1800 all at once? That's impressive. Most we had at once is 275 or so. We're not too concerned about that though. We're just having fun. And we're hoping that if we're consistent week by week on the same day and time, maybe we'll form an audience.

I guess it was good to have hope. They just reactivated my account. Told me to change the name of the game in the dashboard to something other than the playroom next time. Problem is that we made sure to do that last time too so I hope they don't ban us again this weekend.

Yes! That's the one. I caught the tail end of it and it seemed like a good, solid gaming discussion. Clearly bending the rules there *rolls eyes*
