People who turn left in traffic when there is no left turn lane

Will you concede that making the turn, even if it's legal, delays a lot of people and is a major contributor to congestion on already-crowded streets?

The person making the turn is not doing anything wrong legally, morally, or by any other standard you want to apply, to any degree, large or small.

Will you concede that it is at least somewhat selfish though, especially if an alternate route that wouldn't be inconvenient or time-consuming does exist?

We probably should just stay home and not drive at all since it will make other people take SLIGHTLY longer to reach their destinations and that's selfish.

Then make the thread about how piss-poor LA road planning is and how many of these intersections should have "no left turn" signs to improve traffic flow instead of raging on individual drivers performing legal maneuvers. If OP weren't a sociopath and instead made a thread stating, "Hey LA drivers, help me petition the city council to put up more No Left Turn signs" then he would have received a lot more sympathy, a chance at actually doing something productive, and not be perceived like the idiot asshole that he is and pretty much universally mocked by every rational person reading this thread.

The impatient driver isn't the one who puts on his brakes in rush hour traffic and stops an entire lane?

One person is trying to take the most direct legal route to their destination.
The person behind them is trying to take the most direct legal route to their destination, honks their horn at the person in front of them repeatedly, and flips them off as they drive by.

Kids, can you point out the impatient one?

I've never denied that the OP is impatient. He doesn't seem like the most pleasant person, tbh (sorry OP!).

I'm saying he's right about the fact that the person making the turn is being pretty selfish by doing so.

Guess we're at an impasse then.

Defend the act of inconveniencing the entire road because you can't be assed to find a better route, brehs.

Most of the people you are worrying about being "inconvenienced" don't really give a shit because we all have the be that person at one point or another. There's a billion of intersections like this in LA, it's just a part of the social contract of living here.

You implied the OP was justified with "The impatient driver isn't the one who puts on his brakes in rush hour traffic and stops an entire lane?"

And no, they are trying to get to their destination in the most convenient way possible, just like everyone else. See:
Every action you take in a situation with scarcity inconveniences everybody else trying to use that resource.

If the person turning is selfish, literally everyone else driving on the road is also being selfish by restricting possible actions of those who are or who could be behind them if they were not being restricted.

Maybe I was wrong about the honking thing. Shrug.

.... And flipping the bird maybe too?

Going east west around there is so much better on some other roads. Maybe jot down to Beverly. Going through Hancock park, even at rush hour, is pretty great.

When I read the title of this thread last night, I thought it was a joke post. I can't believe someone would seriously get angry about something like this, it's just one of the things you deal with during rush hour.

OP, I would flip the bird right back at you if you were honking at me for making a legal left turn, just to let you know that your behaviour is unacceptable. Not sure why you need to ruin someone's day thanks to your selfish reasons.

Wait, this doesn't compute at all.

Someone who reduces one of the busiest streets in one of the most congested cities in the world to 50% flow for minutes at a time to make a single turn is thinking only about himself.
Yes, and why on earth do you think that you honking and giving the finger is going to register as a parable to someone who is already that dense and self-absorbed?

Yeah, once the no left turn signs are up then you can honk in just and righteous fury for a few weeks until people get with the program.

New thread: "I Hate it When People are in the Grocery Store Line Ahead of Me."

I don't understand why people insist on getting in the grocery store line that I want to use. I mean, there are other lines, and it would be less of an inconvenience to me if they would all just use other lines, or possibly check with me on that day and see what time I'm going to the store.

And paying ... don't get me STARTED. Really??? I can't believe the a-holes out there who don't think far enough in advance to have the exact change ready to go! They could do the work, and figure out what they're going to spend in advance! It's not hard.

Come on, people! Take the initiative.

In all honesty, this thread will make me think twice about bitching in traffic or elsewhere.
