Persona 4: Arena |OT| Midnight's Just Around The Corner

Mhmm, I'm hearing a lot of good things about her in Story Mode (And the mode in general), but I don't think it will change my mind on her design. Way too sci-fi anime for me.

She is no different than Aigis.

Or, you know, going into a hidden hour / inside of a TV / people summoning mythological entities to fight with for the fate of the world. Much less sci fi anime. :p

I am now more knowledgeable about something I never asked!

Shadow lab is fun, she's way easier to play than any pet character in any fighter. No wait I take that back zappa with dog is the easiest shit in the known universe, but she's close :p We can play til you get bored or someone harasses me to play them so you can see some stuff about her later.

My hatred of Carl Clover in Blazblue knows no bounds. NO BOUNDS I TELL YA.

But hmm, I'll have to watch you later. Need some tips for when I do fight against an SLabs player.

Oh yeah, but I'm gonna be gone for most of later today. Bleh.

"Urban Fantasy" does have a name. :p

Well her and carl are not really the same. Carl is about pancake pressure, she's more about creating a left right guessing game from hell.

You got til monday night to get time in haha after that Im vanishing to darksiders 2 for at least a week. I got a nightmare mode race to win :p

The only PS3 stick I have is the Mortal Kombat CE one. Trying to decide if I should pull it out to play. My concern is the block button sitting in the middle of the four buttons and me always hitting it or something. I wish that Persona 4 stick was out in the US.

I played a bit last night (just got the game) on the Dualshock and the D-pad seemed to work fine for me, but my real issue was anything that needed 3 buttons to pull off. Well, technically I have more issues than that as I'm not very good at fighting games, but I'd like to learn one in-depth and this one seems worth putting in the effort. Normally, I am just a button masher. I now regret buying my two TE sticks on 360 as I never want to turn the system on and prefer playing my games on PS3.

I just accidentally discovered that you can start training mode in either of the corners by holding left or right when you hit select o_O

Awesome! I'm sure I missed this in the manual or something, but that's pretty neat.

This the stick?

Hmm, that's a pretty unusual stick, but it might work in your favor if you set the macros right. Middle button as roll perhaps?

You can do training mode while searching or waiting for a match too. Even ranked if you select the custom option. It's lovely. :D

Just disable the middle button and be prepared to move your hand a lot!

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Holy shit, Liz's IK is REALLY useful.

Until you see it happen, see the circle and wait it off.

Sure, they may bait you into a punch or two, but so long as you don't continue to mash you are pretty much able to get away from Elizabeth's Insta-kill pretty easy before she can build meter up again to do it. (Even with the SP Skill she has it takes a bit)

Catch an overzealous Yosuke player or a Labrys doing her DP and they're pretty much screwed.

I'm getting a lot of hate mail :(

Lots of people cancelling games too :(

IM SORRY

I still can't believe that's a thing. I've met tons of rage quitters, but never encountered a dude who sent me hatemail before. Must be a culture difference. I kinda wish it happened.

Got a couple in BB and SF4 before.

I feel like the OST was something of a missed opportunity. Even if they stuck purely to Persona music, there's loads of songs which should be in there but aren't.

Honestly I think the original music is kind of poor. A lot of it feels repetitive. The only original tunes I enjoy are Yukiko's theme and the title screen one.(Instrumental preferably)

Like I've said before, I think a lot of it isn't Meguro. The only songs that sound definitely Meguro-esque to me are Best Friends and the Labrys themes.
If it turns out that it IS Meguro though, maybe it's best if he doesn't do SMT4. I'd rather he focused on getting his shit together for P5 than pumping out sub-par material.

I know that all sounds negative, but I actually really like the P4U soundtrack. I just don't think for a second that it's up there with Meguro's best stuff, and there are even a few tracks that I actually dislike (Teddy and Kanji's especially).

I LOVED the 6 on the CD. Too bad there isn't more, but all of those ones are fantastic.

I really like them too. They work well there because Kitajoh is great at doing slower stuff. I think some of the actual OST might be him, but obviously he has to make speedier music there, which isn't his forte. Konishi is just all out great. Does some awesome guitar work.

You'd be surprised. I play Lizardman in the Soul Calibur games so ring outs are a part of my gameplan. Playing SC4 online somebody sent me 3 voice messages full of salt.

It's not like a team shooter or moba where the blame for the loss is shared by the team or is more easily diffused. Fighting games are a one-on-one match and people can take it to heart when there is nobody to blame but themselves for the loss.

I found this on Mayonaka Midnight: "Mitsuru vs Teddie - I think Mitsuru's hardest matchup, for sure in Teddie's favour."

FUCKING CALLED IT

Shit, I feel so stupid not having found this myself!
Been playing for two weeks now, and after each "non corner" throw with Mitsu I was wondering what to follow it up with, since the spacing seemed to call for something.
"5D? Nah, looks crappy, people are gonna block after that..."
But EX Bufula makes SO MUCH SENSE.

I won't stop until all of Mitsu-GAF are my clones. I'm not arrogant, I'm a method actor.

So I went through the general Mitsuru threads on Mayonaka and Dustloop, and my tech is currently outclassing both sites and I still have more stuff they haven't figured out.

GAF > specialist forums, let's keep it that way. Double Agent Onemic, I'm relying on you to spread false information.

That said, this is a good post.

Getting Naoto's Mudoon/Hamaon kills is surprisingly easy compared to her Universal Instant Kill but you have to really play tight to keep avoid getting creamed fast. Her fancy combos seem a bit pointless at times though. Playing defensively is kinda icky online with a bad connection against an opponent though, it's a losing battle for defensive play in almost every game.

Why does Elizabeth even need Hamaon and Mudoon? Seriously. Odds of that actually working are nigh impossible. Fitting in character, but that's it.

Yeah its a character thing. She wields pretty much every spell in the game, since
Velvet Room people "govern over power"
or something

Blah I hate the Xbox 360 controller :'(. I keep messing up moves on mine and it keeps costing me the matches..

Just gotta train with it a lot more than you may want, sorta like a stick. I've been using a 360 controller for I want to say... 5 or 6 years and I'd say I'm fairly good at using it. Then again, I ignore the d-pad and only use the analog stick unlike a lot of other people.

Well I just ordered it despite not begin able to beat the last boss of P3 and never touched P4 (won't till Vita version). Will avoid story mode like the plague. Anything else I should do to not have the ending of P3 or the entirety of P4 spoiled?
