Persona 4 Golden |OT| Love is the only gold.

One daying dungeons isn't possible unless you're playing on easy or really attached to grinding. It's just too much of a chore and there's no way to get more items.

It is absolutely possible on normal. I did every dungeon in a day when I played through P4G back in June.

Played a little more of this last night. Very Easy is hilarious. I'm gaining money like you wouldn't believe and levelling at a crazy rate. Just done the
Shadow Chie
battle. I love the cutscene before it (Although new Chie kinda screws it up because she can't sound serious).

Got all excited when the postman knocked on my door this morning.

But it wasn't Persona 4.

Soul. Crushed.

Lame. Bad luck, pal. :/

Yep, I've been one daying every dungeon on Normal. I don't see how this wouldn't be possible when those vending machine drinks restore 55 SP a pop

I still feel like I'm wasting all of my time outside of dungeons, though.

Like, I've had to spend time with Nanako like 5 times just to get her to rank 3, even with a Justice persona, what the hell?

My highest S. Links are rank 5 with Chie and Yukiko, I have a couple at 4, a lot of them at 3... and I'm on June 7th

Also reading books takes way too long

Are you equipping a Persona of the same arcana when you do your S Links (As in, have it in your party, doesn't need to be active)? That makes S Links increase faster.

Is there supposed to be a voiced sample that goes with the text message for when characters say stuff like "I found a treasure!" or "there's a shadow!" I ask because the BGM goes down for whenever those pop ups come up but no voices.

I hate this!

I have one for most of the ones I am working on. Actually I think it's really just Nanako that's going stupid slow... well, and Dojima, but I don't have a hierophant persona for him so that makes sense.

Yukiko's and Chie's has gone up pretty fast.

I've been trying to raise other stats as well. I've raised knowledge, courage, and expression twice, but I've only raised dilligence and understanding once.

I just feel my social links should be higher than they are right now, idk.

Yeah, would like to know this too, because it's really annoying. How is it in the Japanese version?

My copy finally made its way from Canada to Blighty just before I'm off on holiday so pleased as punch though did worry a bit by the amount of french language on the box. I've been grinning from ear to ear so far by how vibrant everything looks on the vita compared to what I remember being a bit washed out on the PS2 and I've only been viewing the TV Listings bit.

After feeling like this has been a year of disappointing releases, sequels and remakes (bar MGS HD and Okami) I'm smitten with P4G so far.

Caved it and waiting impatiently on my import. EU-release can *********@*$DI1!!!

Perfect winter game right here. Not waiting for those incompetent fools to bring it over, they blew every inch of goodwill with the P4A situation.

I told myself I will play my ps plus games/ACL/the console gamefly games I have before getting too deep in P4G.

Now all I have played since launch is P4G.

Damn you atlus!

Does Izanagi stop learning new skills before 20? He doesn't have a Next Level Skill box.

Yeah, you have to switch to Skill Cards pretty early if you want to keep Izanagi.

I'm playing an Izanagi-only run since I did a "Mostly Orpheus Only" run waiting for this game.
Loving that you don't have to actually rely on other Personas for Skill Cards anymore. I havn't switched Persona the entire game.

Also, being able to reorder skills at will is a godsend. I'm picky enough that I had to clone all my cards in P3P and then reteach Orpheus skills in the order I wanted them listed.

Thinking of buying this off my USA PSN account (now my main) instead of grabbing an import copy, isn't there a drawback to saves from downloading Vita games? Not being able to copy them elsewhere or something like that?

The downside is that the saves are rolled into the game data, so if you delete the bubble you delete the saves too. However, there is a way round that: pay for PlayStation Plus and use Cloud Saving.

In general Personas only learn new skills for the next few levels. They also level very slowly so you're forced to make new ones all the time.

Or just copy the game data onto your PC/PS3.

I sort of like the new intro, its got this twee Belle&Sebastian-esque feel that seems to gel with the game a bit better than the "classic" intro

Ok, just bought this game because of all the positive impressions in this thread. Never played any persona game before. So, hoping for a fresh JRPG experience. ^_^

It could become an issue if you don't use a particularly big memory card, because if you delete the bubble, it takes your saves for that game along with it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been feeling this way all year.

I think Virtue's Last Reward and Persona 4: Golden are the only games I've fallen completely in love with in 2012. Shame I don't like putting ports / enhanced ports on GotY lists. There've been games I've liked and others that I liked a lot, but not as much as I do these.

PS we have French labels because of this and this, lol. It just gets annoying with Nintendo of Canada who decides to slap this huge "playable in French" label on the box which obscures the boxart.

Btw. did P4G change some boss stats or are all the guides wrong on
Shadow Yukiko
?

All the guides are telling me that she doesn't have a weakness to ice and that her summoned "Prince Charming" is weak to ice. However when I fought against her it was the other way around.

A lot of stuff's different, even right down to some of the regular enemies (ex: one was originally weak against Garu and now it's weak against Hama).

My Newegg shipment is still not here.

How long do I wait until I report missing waifus?

Next Monday night.

Because Newegg is usually UPS.

They shipped the games Tuesday.

3-day shipping would have it arrive on Thanksgiving.

UPS doesn't deliver on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and weekends.

Loving some of the new features especially the chat log, perfect for when the mrs feels it's necessary to talk to me about what rubbish she's watching on tv. Also like the way you can now have a bit of a wander around early on instead of close to 2 hours of just pressing x.

Galactic Punt -> All Out Attack -> Twin Dragons!!!

This is what I love about Persona 4. Battles feels like such a team effort. Everyones helping each other out.

That last battle I had was player advantage and I got some SOS help. I love this game.

Yeah, I leave everybody except MC on "Act Freely."
Only being in direct control of "myself" gives the characters more personality and, I think, fits the theme of the game more.

You can just put in your tracking number on the actual UPS site for an exact delivery estimate. Mine shipped out from newegg on Tuesday as well but it's not getting here until Tuesday next week.

24. I feel like grinding to maybe 28 or 30 might've made me fare better. I had to use a lot of consumables, fuse Personas with buffs/debuffs, keep one Persona equipped that resisted lightning, tried to get a Persona that resisted physical attacks, etc. You can finish off Nice Guy pretty fast. It's just the Shadow and Tough Guy that you have to really worry about.

Fucking Yosuke kept letting him have an extra turn every now and then. I don't remember Fanatical Spark being that ridiculous in the PS2 version, but then again, it's been years... And the girls kept getting enraged, and the guys kept getting poisoned so I had to waste some sodas on them. Honestly, the hardest part of that fight is all the party spells uses. And the status effects.

But what's really helping me stay afloat is fusing a bunch of Personas with resistances. It's something I took for granted in lower difficulties. I used buffs and debuffs regularly but the innate resistances were things that I didn't put a lot of emphasis on.

Ah... I hope the next one isn't as tiring. (LOL, I remember the next one being looooong.)

Even discounts ain't worth it, man. I'm not getting lots of money, I feel like I'm living paycheque-to-paycheque, and Fox is like the man from the credit card company calling me, asking me when I'm gonna pay my bill when I'm telling him that I don't get paid until next week.

Igor's like the guy who wants to take my thumbs whenever I want to ask him to give me my next Persona fix.

Heh. Eventually Yosuke died and I just let him stay down. Fuck that guy. GET OVER YOUR LIGHTNING WEAKNESS MAN. I got the boss down low enough to where he'd just Fanatical Spark > Spirit Drain > Melee Attack > Enrage over and over again, but MC could outheal it since I had Invigorate 2, half the melee attacks would miss, and enrage never hit him.

Speaking of Invigorate 2, I'm pretty sure MC should be COMPLETELY set on SP now as I'm heading in to the strip club. Sarasvati now has Invig 1 and Invig 2. I took my Ame-no-Uzeme to the Chagall Cafe in Okina and got his Invig 1 card. 8 SP a turn, yo.

Also got Fox to level 5 or 6, hopefully he should be a little cheaper D:

Gonna try to grin and bear it and grind up to level ~35 or so for the bosses here though. Womp womp.

As someone playing on very hard I think that would cause me to light my vita on fire.

Hell even on normal that would drive me NUTS on certain fights.

Godspeed.

I didn't realize the only difference between hard and very hard is whether or not you have the ability to restart on the floor if you are defeated. I should have just gone very hard.

It's easily my favourite JRPG combat. Feels so slick and modern, and I really like the little touches like the party cheering each other on when they do well.

Feels weird but persona 3/4 combat feels like the way I wanted pokemon combat to evolve and improve once I got old enough that those games became insanely easy.

Also I guess fox requests changed? I buttoned through the first ema since I'm a dumbass and now have ZERO idea what to do.

Whoops!

They did? I thought they were the same.

Also, it'll never happen (Slick and modern is not Nintendo), but a Pokemon game with the same kind of presentation and polish to its combat as Persona would be boss.

Either they changed them or the first one is not the same as the first one I remember
Meat gum/weird snack soul is what I REMEMBER the first one being, the first one now is a "I wish for love" "A girl wishes to have things go well with the boy she likes"

Nope, that's the same. I dunno if the order is switched, but that was definitely in the original.

If I remember corectly the 2nd ema is the meatgum, diet lady and the 1st is the girl who puts a note in your locker at school by mistake

Were all the cards revealed during Shuffle Time in the PS2 version? Seems kinda weird that you just pick what you want - in P3P I kind of enjoyed the challenge of getting what I wanted!

Sigh. I'm trying to one-day dungeons on hard mode, but
Shadow Kanji
is really making it hard for me. It's like he's forcing me to leave and buy a bunch of team heals and poison/rage antidotes. Damn him.

No they weren't. It's actually a feature I like. It makes Shuffle time much more rewarding.

So, I looked this up to show you all, because I think it's just hilarious.

Basically, a while ago I came across some Youtube comment where some guy had written these silly lyrics for Specialist. Since I saw it, I hear the lyrics every time I hear the song.

Check it (For reference, this is Specialist):

Lyrics:

Let's go to school and learn about the world!

Let's go to school and see all our frieeeends!

Let's go to school and get that question right

Otherwise Yosuke looks like a dumbaaaaaass!

Let's go to school and have lunch on the roof!

Let's go to school and study real haaaaaard!

And when it rains, we'll study even more

Cuz good grades means more people will like us!

That final line cracks me up.

Still in my first hour of play time. Chie's voice is driving me nuts. She sounds like the older sibling of whoever voiced Quark in Virtue's Last Reward. She OVER acts! Ev-er-y-thing!!!!! It's kind of a shame because I can tell the voice actor is putting forth an honest effort, but ffs somebody should have reeled her in. I'm debating shutting off voices but I actually like the others (despite the bear thing sounding kind of same-y), especially Nanako. This is why I wish there was the option for the Japanese VA.

Finally tracked down a copy yesterday! It was one that someone had pre-ordered, but not picked up yet, and I convinced the dude to just let me have it because "if they haven't come yet, they're probably not coming"! I haven't started it yet, but how long do I need to set aside for the opening of this game (ie. how long before I reach a save point?) I have about an hour or so here before I need to drive the g/f to work...is that enough time to get a little into this game?
