I sure hope we don't have to wait for another 2 generation leap for another mainline SMT.Icehouse said:No, I made the official thread for Persona 4. I love the games, but fuck.
Please let Persona sit for a while. I'm tired of the Persona stuff.

Not fake or misinterpreted, just not confirmed as anything beyond speculation. Could be a leak, but we don't know for sure. The junior that got banned for posting it was banned because he couldn't actually read Japanese and just ran with what he got through babelfish hoping to get a scoop on the news. That's a nono.cosmicblizzard said:I thought this was already confirmed as either fake or grossly misinterpreted.
TheSeks said:Blame the fact that Persona 3 wasn't "niche" after people caught wind it was trying to break the standard norm for JRPGs and liked it. Then more people liked P4 (partially due to GiantBomb's videos on it).
I'm all for more SMT coming over, and while I agree with you about Persona needing a break (If this does release this year for PS3) I wouldn't be surprised if Atlus continues to pillage on the series for as long as it makes bank.

This better be speculation, I'd rather SMT4.
SMT is the main series. Persona is a spin off from SMT. Persona's popularity worldwide has eclipsed the main series (for a number of reasons).Tkawsome said:What's the difference?

So the Wii is not a next gen system?Mr.NiceGuy said:Exclusive to PS3 or not I don't care. The important thing for the next Persona is to be in a next gen system, not ps2 or the wii, ps3/360 is the only way.

None of them are you numbnuts, it is current-gen, current-gen! Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine, as the 360, PS3, and Wii are not next-gen!Shadowlink said:So the Wii is not a next gen system?
Run for your life, OP.duckroll said:Nope, not going to forgive you. Too bad, should've thought about that before you posted.
It's just an article about SMT Pachislot being launched in Japan, and it ends off by saying that the pachislot games will feature many systems which will be familiar to the fans of the series itself, and that together with the PS3 Persona 5 (which they assume will be announced and offers no source whatsoever) it will create a boost in the popularity of SMT branding all over Japan.
Let this be a harsh lesson for people who enjoy posting "news" they cannot read. Jr members who are banned, do not return.![]()

Yea you're right hahaha. I guess I need to remember that, but everyone calls them next gen systems. So blame them HuelenHUELEN10 said:Non of them are you numbnuts, it is current-gen, current-gen! Sorry, but this is a pet peeve of mine, as the 360, PS3, and Wii are not next-gen!
As for Persona V, bring it on!

I'm pretty interested in getting back into it, though.

Yes. The main series does not have all the time-management "social link" stuff. But Persona (which is just one of the spinoff lines) actually has more entries than the main series now, and has been increasingly successful recently. It's possible a variant of those ideas might transfer back to the next iteration of the stem series, whenever that comes out.Tkawsome said:Yeah, but are there any gameplay differences?

Icehouse said:Persona employs an emphasis on being more mainstream and appealing to the anime crowd. Persona is like an anime in game form (especially 2-4) while main series goes for a more darker, less-conventional feel.
The core gameplay is similar; gather demons through the power of negotiation (if the game *has* negotiation) and demon fusion. However, what sets SMT main series and Persona are apart is SMT's emphasis on alignments (good, evil, neutral), multiple endings, and gamplay while Persona emphasizes on story and (at least with 1 and 2) a heavily developed demon negotiation system. Persona 3 and 4 take the story emphasis into overdrive, however.
Basically, it's not that we don't like Persona. Some of us actually love the series. It's just that...well, we've had Persona 3, Fes, 4, a port of 1 in just 2-3 years while other SMT series (Devil Summoner 2 and the new Devil Survivor aside) remain neglected.
That ATLUS countdown site thread.GhostSeed said:Which thread was that posted in? The search didn't bring up any 'newer' Persona threads other than 'Official' ones.

I just love Atlus and wouldn't want to see them financially hurt. Maybe DS would have been sweet.
In Nocturne, the alignments were represented to a degree, while the Reasons were the replacement due to story reasons I suppose.Fimbulvetr said:The alignments aren't good, evil, and neutral. They're Law, Chaos, and Neutral and no one side is glamorized into looking like the heroes(okay Neutral is actually pretty close to good but technically it's like not picking a side).
And with Nocturne the regular 3 alignments weren't used.
