Platinum already and I'm still in the third dungeon... and I'm liking it a lot.

Also... I just got one of those "special" personae that live inside chests. Are they useful for something?

As Shouta said they are useful for fusions, and one of them is (I think) mandatory for the coop that ask for specific persona creation.
I though I was screwed when failed to capture one, but you can also find them in mementos. Not in chests, but directly as a still diamond-shaped shadow.

Resumed this after a week or so. Completely lost. Did the first dungeon and now not sure what to do lol. Managed social linking a bit but what does
ill wait the innovator of kamoshida
mean? It says that in read and this is 22nd April

Just keep doing social stuff until an event happens. You finished the dungeon earlier than the deadline so it's telling you to wait until you see the results of what you did. If I remember right, you'll be waiting for May 2nd.

Got the bad ending on purpose for new game+. There is this thing I don't understand. Spoiler for that scene right at the start of the game
How did the mc got caught? Wasn't he in the other world? (Casino palace). The black suit men and people inside were just made up things in that world, right? How did the police caught mc if he was in the other world? Even when he got caught, he still had that costume and mask

I was wondering that myself, but thought that maybe it would be explained later on. Unless he was actually in the real world, pulling a heist (which would be reasonable considering the people there were normal), but I'd imagine that you'd know that having finished the game once (which I haven't done yet).

It's explained right at the beginning of that area.
The courthouse is the only place affected by the Palace. He ran from the security inside the casino and as he busted out of there into the real world, there was a police trap waiting for him outside. When the thieves run out of a Palace they materialize into the real world like seen in that photo. That's how he was caught.

Ok thanks. Im also pressing touch pad to see what other people did when im stuck.

Then why did he still has the costume and mask when already in real world?

Probably because
he didn't get a chance to wind down and depower and thus brought the costume out of the Palace with him. Remember, Treasure in the Palace can be taken into the real world along with other random dungeon items. No reason the outfit can't be taken out too.

The Treasure Demons? Yeah, very useful. Good for fusions, or Sacrifices (to give more XP to Persona) or as Items.

You're talking about those , right ?

20160928133751.png

I wish i could use them as they are.

The trophy for
having bought every possible drink from vending machines is a little annoying to get. You'd expect that a minimap icon means that there's only one vending machine there, but there's some locations where there's actually two or three together, each selling different drinks, so you have to physically inspect every single one of them.

It's surprisingly easy to get, I wasn't even trying anything special and I think I achieved it somewhere in dungeon 6 or 7.

Well I'm done with dungeon 7 and didn't get it...
Mostly because I kind of got 98% of chance encounters and was overleveled.
And it's not better now, I'm close to LVL99 so all the comments for dangerous enemies are a no-go for me.

I hope I'll get it by the end of my playthrough but I'm not holding my breath.
Will try to do differently in new game + in that case.

thanks for the replies. I'll see what I can do with them tonight.

Just got the game (Can't speak or read Japanese) And I have no clue what to do. Anyone willing help me out? Gonna spoiler tag it but it's not much of a spoiler
I'm at the Tutorial? Section of the game and I have no Idea how to progress. Gotta talk to (I think) a Police officer and there is a Woman and child with a dog, and there is an oldman sitting next to a radio. So, umm...my question is what the hell am I suppose to do? It won't let me move on from this section
Edit: Nevermind, I'm a idiot. Figured it out, I must have ran around for 20 mins, and the solution was right in front of me..

You have to go to the house of the person who's gonna take care of you... he lives at the end of the street where the girl and the dog are... he's not home so you'll have to go to a cafe called Le Blanc. Search for that name. It's in the same street the man with the radio is... in the minimap it's marked with a coffee cup I guess.

Edit: So you found the next place to go.

If you don't know Japanese you may get stuck during the dungeons: There are some minor puzzles and objectives you may have to do to progress. Welcome to the thread.

What happened was, and this is spoilers for stuff that happens past that scene and prior to the intro to the next dungeon,
Goro brought in a big ass group of cops into the other world the same way that you've seen people accidentally follow the heroes into it all throughout the game.

Ah, that makes sense. I had to gloss over that because I was streaming it but that works.

I keep telling myself I've read enough but then SMT IV:Apocalypse reminded me of something very, very important to me: is there a "search" function for fusions in this game similar to IV? It's just so convenient to be able to make full use of your compedium when fusing stuff.

Could someone help me out with Makoto's Coop?
I was looking at this guide and in the event for rank 9 it has a 6th choice, which I thought would be the one to decide if she'd become the MC gf or not. The thing is, I didn't get that choice; did I mess up somewhere prior to that?

I'm not familiar with IV but there is a search feature similar to past persona games that shows you all the personas you could potentially fuse with the ones you have on hand. It does not include monsters that you have previously registered in your compendium but don't have on hand, so far as I can tell from early on.

After you choose fusion in the velvet room, you can then choose manual or search.

Yeah, that's what I was mainly referring to @ bolded. I hope it's something you can unlock through social links then.

Anyone tips for fishing the Nushi? I have the best rod but it still feels somewhat impossible.

It's ultra easy (I got it yesterday), I feel dumb for the rage I spewed at the game when I didn't know what to do.
So...

First thing, you know it of course, you'll need the best rod and the best bait.
Here's the rule though : you don't need to mash the O button when in the red...just tap it ONCE or TWICE at max. Just don't tap when out of the red part otherwise the fish gets a little bit away.
If you just take your time and do that, the fish will get nearer and nearer and eventually, you'll get it.

82 hours later and I've finally completed the game. The back leg of the story is really great and doesn't let up, but the gameplay becomes a bit of a slog in the last 5 hours if you haven't grinded, and I still think the dungeons are way too long (though well developed).

Comfortably one of the best video games ever made with an insane amount of great content, but more isn't always more and I feel completely exhausted.

Oh well, can't wait to do it all again in February!

Just a general question. I think I'm lagging behind in my human parameters pace. Makoto's rank 5 coop has a max rank charm requirement that I haven't even reached yet(beginning of September) and my summer vacation in general was kind of empty of day-time coop events because I didn't reach level 4 Dexterity/Charm for Yusuke and Tae until like the final week of it. Was I expected to have these stats maxed by this time or is this really just a lot of empty coop time?

Just beat the
7
th? dungeon. Have played for about 75 hours and assuming I'm almost done but I actually doubt it.

Had to force to stop myself since I have an essay due tomorrow. Dammit real life :(

Geez it is ¥8800 on PSN! Good thing I got it for roughly $50. I'm tempted to buy the cameo costumes.

I noticed that some Personas are in the PEN store like Izanagi and Orpheus are they worth the purchase?

On PS4 I had 2 inserts. One was an ad for the day breakers anime. one was a black and white insert with code for atlus survey.

I see. Is the R2 version marked with the Cero rsting?

Slight spoilers for the end of October
What's up with these flickering, white light transitions? They look kinda weird, similar to the transition for entering a Palace.

I remember I advanced a lot of coops thanks to summer vacation. And most of my stats were at around level 3 here. I didn't get level 5 in any stat until the last month or two of the game. Don't worry too much about it.

Just finished. Final boss was pretty disappointing, but other that that it was a tremendous game. Not convinced that it's better than P3 or P4, but I'd say it probably stands equal.

Heh, I literally made it to level 5 charm like right after making that post still at the beginning of September.

Wish it could have came before summer vacation though!

yea :( When JP publishers start doing this. GG Xrd Rev had a nice thick coloured manual though.
Most Japanese publishers stopped doing this a few years ago though. Only few and far between are still putting real manuals in boxes. :(

For me it might be all the changes which made the flow of the game much better. After finishing P5, I have a feeling that I'd have enjoyed P3 and P4 much more if they had some of the features of this game. And non-terrible dungeons. But that's a conversation for another thread.

Dantis please.

You can't even understand a lick of Japanese.

And the "rough" translations you read probably won't cut it either. Just wait until you can actually understand the game before deciding if its better than / worse than P3/P4.

Wait until you see the final boss.

It's sorta dumb. The whole final act is kinda bad from a narrative sense. Gameplay is really strong still.

Also there's only one final boss track, and it is weak sauce. Pales in comparison to Fog and Battle for Everyone's Souls.

If the final act was better, then I could believe it's better than P3 and P4. But it's very middling, where they both have tremendous finales.

Could someone tell me how you get the ultimate persona for the protagonist in this game? Is it like in P4?

Yeah NG+ then special fusion.

--------------
Story aside P5 is absolutely a better Persona game. So many little things that make tinkering with the system really nice. That said it really needs a harder difficulty.

As for the final boss:
I mean it's just kind of super samey to P4. People weren't too taken with that ending as well. For me I kind like that part of Persona fully diving into the mythical and weird larger than life shenanigans. Especially the reveal this time man.
Srsly don't read this next part if you haven't finished and don't want to be spoiled.
The whole game I was getting used to Igor's new voice and it felt so weird all I knew was that the original VA died and was pretty surprised with the new take. It felt very jarring for a long time and just as I've gotten used to the game dropped the reveal on me. But I was all the happier when it happened felt like a really good payoff.(The Igor that's with you most of the game is a fake.)

To me these more mythical aspects that are more tied to the velvet room are kind of the meta narrative of the series to me and I kind of dig it. Hope we're going to get some payoff to the Elizabeth thing at some point.

Maybe, but it feels like you're completely disregarding the very gameplay improvements

Not to mention the difference in writing (that again, you aren't fully aware of)

Like there's more to a game than just its ending

IThis part was so good. So good. I didn't expect it at all and thought they just wanted to try a different Igor. And then it all clicked after the reveal.

As for the general narrative of the game, including the last stretch, aside from it being a very entertaining story, I actually thought it was a decent social commentary (weird stuff aside, of course). A bit heavy handed sometimes, but good nonetheless.

If you don't understand Japanese, then you can't really comment on it from a narrative standpoint can you? =p

Last act is amazing both in events and being relevant thematically. Perhaps a bit heavy-handed as Hasemo points out but it's a good exclamation point for a game that didn't throw its message into the face of the players all game.
