So, it's almost Christmas Eve... Anyone else here who celebrates that holiday? Any fun plans for tomorrow/today (depending on where you are)?

Eh, Smash was never anything more than a fun party game. Brawl was still that despite not being as good. I'm willing to give the new one a shot just for the portable version.

Plus Nintendo just dropped the best Zelda game in more than a decade.

I may pick it up, but I can't get over how ugly it is just yet. I'll wait for it to go down in price. I know that's fickle, but I've always liked the way Zelda games looked and this is... well... it's fucking gross and that stings a little bit.

As for Smash, if I'm honest the last time I bought one of them was Melee on the Gamecube. I only played Brawl once at a house party when I was heavily intoxicated, so I can't pass judgement on it, but I'm just not interested in the series.

I'm meeting my future sister-in-law for the first time, and I plan on drinking eggnog in the evening.

I'm getting a Wii U for X-mas (so close to that magical day), and I am so excited to finally get it, and play all of my spanking new Wii U titles.

I just don't really care about Nintendo IP as much as I used to. It's not the rehashes, it's just that they're not as good as they used to be. They feel like cheap imitations of their classics, which is just tragic. I'm still in for Zelda, and that's about it at this point; everything else is pretty heartbreaking to play these days, Smash included.

As for The Wonderful 101, I didn't like it. The art direction was terrible, and I didn't really like anything else about the game to be honest. I'm not surprised one bit that it bombed, quite frankly.

After Skyward Sword I felt more or less the same way and despite how great Fire Emblem Awakening was, it won't beat the greatness that was Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Now that I think about it, my 3DS is pretty much an Atlus machine aside from Pokémon and New Leaf.

Wii U is more or less the same. Aside from the ones you listed for Wii U and Smash U, I don't know what else I'd want from Nintendo that isn't Metroid or F Zero

Honestly the screen shots and videos do ALBW a serious injustice. The game looks fantastic on the actual console with the 3D turned up.

I played it at Eurogamer; didn't think much then. I'm not writing it off, but it's the least hyped I've been for a Zelda since, well, ever. I normally day 1 every game that comes out if I have the system for it.

Many of Nintendo's IPs just don't spark any interest from me. Its basically down to Paper Mario, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros, and Fire Emblem (which was recent). Almost none of those will sell me on a console, too. Not to mention, it basically cements the Wii U as having no reason for me to buy.

I get it but, man, it's an amazing Zelda game. Way better than either DS game, TP, or SS.

Your level of attachment to LttP can add a lot to it also.

Maya has no fashion sense so ulala picks out her clothes.
Look at ulala. That should explain everything.

Neither of them have a fashion sense. >.<;

Family dinner at my grandparents. Similar to what we did at Thanksgiving, except less people.

Working until noon. Sister is taking (forcing) my family to church, then we are heading over to see my relatives. I'm exited about the latter!

I'm gonna invite my girlfriend over.

She's going to *gulp* spend the night in my room.

Don't hide your porn under your futon.

Is she telling her parents that she's at her best friend's house? :p

I don't know if this is the kind of terrible you want, but some jerk linked this on IRC one day.

Seeing all of your reactions, I kinda want to open it to see just how bad it is, but as it is said: curiosity killed the cat...

Oh, and forgot to mention what I'm doing tomorrow: Dinner with my family. It's not really exciting, but w/e; it's been a while since I've seen some of them and we're all on good terms.

My nan just built a new house, so the whole family has descended upon it for the holidays. We just had a celebration for my cousins birthday, which was yesterday and spent the night chatting and drinking. Nice to catch up with everyone once in a while.

Neither of them have a fashion sense. >.<;
That's what I was implying.

I am spending Christmas with my sister I haven't seen in 4 months and my mother who's recovering from a stress-induced heart attack and the subsequent surgery.to diagnose what was wrong. (My father is overseas for the military so he isn't here.)

I can't tell if this is going to be better or worse than last year.

What did you think of Kid Icarus: Uprising? It's probably my favorite new Nintendo IP (Pity since it'll never get a sequel)

I thought the gamplay, characters, story, and narrative were extremely enjoyable.

EDIT: err reinvention of the IP to more accurate.

Nothing too crazy, I'm just going to enjoy W101, go out for a run, have a nice dinner with the family and to end things off, Mass at midnight.

Secular Christmas over here. We're going to get Chinese food. :D Should be low key overall, especially since we moved across the country from my (insane) extended family this year.

My secular Christmas just cuts out the religious parts and focuses on the gift giving aspect, lol. Was a great approach for me back when I was a kid. :p

I'm spending my holidays with my family on Christmas Eve and later on Saturday, having relatives coming from out of town to celebrate Christmas. So that will be fun.
