Chie is the worst waifu
Yosuke should stop flirting. He's not very good at it.

Also Yukiko > Chie so far.

Chie is like the girl you become best bros with, not get romantically involved. Except how she just kicked Yosuke in the balls and forced him to buy her food. That wasn't cool.

Scenes from the Persona 3 movie!

I don't even know where to begin, there are just so many good things about this scene.

-On screen character development for Fuuka and Natsuki. Both of these characters were severely underdeveloped in the original game, and their relationship suffered as a result. Hell, Fuuka's awakening scene is predicated on their tenuous relationship, so the fact that they're giving it more exposure in the movie is a GOOD thing.
-Makoto Yuki's disposition makes this scene even more appealing; your typical protagonist would rush in protect Fuuka, but not Yuki. He actually watches her getting bullied and it's totally in line with his apathetic nature. I'm looking forward to having him grow as a person throughout the movies.

As an aside, it seems that Makoto is just hanging out with Fuuka during their "s-link" moments. He's not trying to waifu her or anything along those lines... he's just hanging out with her. That sort of platonic male to female interaction was something I longed for in Persona 3.

So to sum it up... Makoto Yuki's characterization in the movie is awesome, and Fuuka might actually be a decent character now. Hell yes, I need to see this film now.

Makoto's characterization is one of the reasons why this movie will be worth the watch. I can't wait until May.

I really hope that P3M will be those rare anime that actually don't mess up the story, but rather improves it.

don't know if this counts as spoilers but better to be safe than sorry

Seeing Makoto witness it firsthand kind of defeats the part where he, Junpei and Yukari try and piece together the mystery behind Fuuka's disappearance doesnt it? I wonder if that part is even still in the movie if they still have the "Believe it or Don't" ghost story scene

"I should really post in PersonaGAF more often!"

*sees last two pages*

Y'know what? I uh.. I gotta go. I have a thing I need to be at. Err... yeah. Later!

I agree with everything you said.

Since I played P4 before P3, I always found it weird that on the rare occasions where SEES would hang out Fuuka would be like "nah brah, I'm doing my own thing with this jersey chick who used to bully me. You don't get to see any of it btdubbs." It made me feel like I totally missed out on her arc. I guess it didn't help that I didn't bother with her social link :/ I'm glad we'll actually get to see more of Fuuka and Natsuki than "she's mean to me...owait were besties now"

P4A Kanji & Teddie

So I got to their cliffhangers. Kanji's such a dunce that Rise and Teddie take a moment to make fun of how far off track he is. Actually, Teddie's pretty much dominated people in terms of ripping on 'em. Like, he verbally destroyed Akihiko well before they ever did battle. Poor Akihiko's cape . . . Honestly Teddie's story has been a huge breath of fresh air after the utter slog that was Yukiko, Yosuke, Chie and to a lesser extent Kanji. Got sorta tired of fighting the normal members of the IT. Finally got some fucking answers about what the hell Naoto's been doing, and we got to see Mitsuru! Teddie drooling over every girl he meets is an added bonus, and that his story mode ended with a different cut scene was also good. I knew things were really getting different when Teddie's announcement room was completely different from everyone else's. Naoto up next and then I'll move on to the members of SEES.

The problem I have with this game's story, aside from the fact that it's a complete mess figuring out what's really happened and deciding whose version of events I'm going to take as my own personal canon, is that so much of it is retreads (I can only endure so many takes of the cast realizing their speech was distorted!) and that so many answers or problems could be resolved if people would just hold still and fucking talk to each other. Like, hello, can we take a minute to compare notes? Somehow Yu has been the only person so far to get any fucking answers from anyone, and he got apprized of all of Persona 3 and some of Labrys' backstory before moving on, but like, Teddie just completely ignores every chance for exposition, and the others aren't doing much better in that vein, particularly Kanji.

This is why I refer to P4A as Persona 3 Arena Featuring Persona 4

Fate/Zero saved anime at least two or three times over.

I highly recommend Madoka or Psycho Pass if you want more Gen Urobuchi stuff.

For sure.

I'll check out Psycho-Pass. At this point, I definitely think Urobochi is a visionary. This guy is writing brutal tragedies and that's bigger than anime. We don't have much of that kind of writing happening in any medium.

Just never ever watch or read F/SN and you're golden.

F/Z is pretty damn good, though.

Yes, I've been advised. It's amazing to think F/Zs routes are in an eroge game, but after learning a little more about the series background it seems it's strange because it really wasn't supposed to be like that.

I'm looking forward to what Ufotable able does with their adaption of F/SN. I just need to know how the masters of the fifth war and the servants carry on.

I watched this whole thing across three days, btw. You could say I'm invested.

The "What is a king?" episode in F/Z...so good, among many others.

"Discussing The Grail" Really great episode, yeah. That's an important moment for Saber.

In general, I really enjoyed the element of honor and chivalry with which the knight servants chose to engage each other. It really made the characters multi-dimensional and it kept the story from becoming a comic book.

Even Archer. He may be intensely cruel, but I wouldn't say he's an honorless scoundrel.

I woke up early on my born day, I'm twenty, it's a blessing
The essence of adolescence leaves my body, now I'm freshened

Happy birthday, man. You're younger than I would've guessed!

Finished Fate/zero.

Damn.

It's great. I have a really hard time watching violence involving children but other than that it was great.
As for Fate Stay Night, one of the paths in the VN is actually worth checking out imo since it gives a fantastic conclusion to Saber and does her character justice. You'll still be forced to go through some compeletely ridiculous eroge scenes though. They are so blatantly shoe-horned in it's not even funny. Unfortunately the animated movie went with the path that turns her into a damsel in distress with some fan service thrown in for good measure. It's deplorable to see such a proud and noble character being treated that way. Story also doesn't make any sense.

In fairness, P3 is already the game from which P4 onward draws its mythology. But yeah, while I love the IT at the moment only Yu and Teddie have really figured into what's going on here. Yosuke, Yukiko, and Chie sorta tried, but Kanji idk.

I'll also say that Yosuke probably has the strongest back half of any of the story parts, so you at least have that to look forward to. :)

But ya, P4A's should really be P3A, but can understand why it has the P4 in the name since I can easily have seen Labrys in P4 proper, dungeon and all.

According to Zen United, the European publisher of Persona 4 Arena, Akihiko's appearance in said game was originally going to be modeled after Jason Statham and how he looks in the Transporter movie series. Soejima was asked to redesign him to look more "wild or rugged" by Wada, the game's director, after they noticed that no other character in the roster would be able to fill that role.

Requoting this to confirm that this was total bullshit, as predicted. Re-reading the P4A art book interview makes it plain as day that Atlus (i.e. Soejima) are the ones that came up with the final P3 character redesigns, not ASW.

Wtf was that catsuit page lol

Nah best bros best girlfriend also. Chie is also the girl that has inferiority complex because she thinks she is surrounded by girls more sexy and beautiful than her (lol because she is also good), so any new guy that comes is going to go directly with yukiko, or rise, or even naoto. Here comes this great guy and choses her instead of the others, she is going to try anything to keep you, thats for sure.

Hush, you (regarding the VN only)
While it's true that it has those scenes, they are easily patched out, and the content is amazing, perhaps barring out the first route. Even if it is not my favorite VN (that honor goes to Steins;gate), it ranks easily in my top 3

Yep. The P4 cast is only there it seems because the game is Inaba. P4A, and even more so with P4AU, focuses a lot more on the cast of P3.

I think it is too early to judge P4A2, especially when the
majority of the known Shadow Operatives are held captive for at least the first half and the Investigation team is all free apparently!

Also worth noting that Hashino came up with the concepts of P4A Akihiko and Mitsuru before giving instructions concerning their design. Further specific details concerning the characters' stories were added for the console game's Story Mode (such as Mitsuru's Shadow Operatives). Basically: Don't believe Zen United's lies.

I'm also now convinced that Sho is a sixth generation anti-Shadow android. This interview really made it obvious that they were planning a sequel all along; it'd be cool if there's a P4AU art book and it's localized sooner than the P4A one was.

I wonder how long they've had the Anti-Shadow weapon plotline planned.

I just realized P4A2 will probably be at E3 in English, so that's cool.

I completely understand. I was shocked they were willing to go there at all, let alone repeatedly. Some of the stuff involving Kariya and Irisviel was also pretty discomforting.

I'll probably just watch the new F/SN in the fall. Unless someone smartens up and localizes that Vita port!

Excellent. What's next on your list?

Probably finishing TTGL.

That sounds 2grimdark4me. We need more happylight slice of life animus and games!

Heh. I'm sure Levito mentioned it on the podcast last night, but it's a pretty great example of a story that's pretty dark, but not just for the sake of. That's not the point of it nor is it the prime appeal. And there is levity. Rider and the character I mentioned above, Irisviel bring a lot of light to it.

It is pretty crazy that fate/stay started out as like porn right...then it turned into this big thing it is now.
