It could also be that the humanoid form is the "true one", and the cat form is just a sort of disguise, at least that's what I think.

I really liked the bigger casts, but that's my opinion.

Regarding what exactly the P5 cast "turns into" during their dungeon-ing and combat, i think they are just becoming their shadow selves, which i believe will be their "phantoms", and in turn, their Personas. They become more confident, cocky, and feel and act badass. During class and the train, the MC seems confined to himself, but back with his buddies he looks relaxed and confident.

And the discussion if they are "good" or "bad". I think they are fighting for a morally justifiable cause, but still delinquents. They are fighting for what they think is right, and that may include a couple illegal acts, and overstepping rules, but the outcome is still for the greater good.

I still don't know what to believe as the overall theme of P5, but i'm leaning towards them fighting against society's oppression, as the most believable theme so far

Hashino mentions they began his quest of "justice" after a odd event happen.

Wondering what kind of event , some kind of awakening maybe or the Demons going riot

the most important question in P5 is how terrible the hot springs scene will be.

With one girl (or maybe two if the cat counts) i not expect to much.

They going to make a school trip to Inaba this time... maybe the Phantom steals something from Junes hahahaahaha

In two years we can expect Persona 6 (like p3/P4 case ) lol .. dont mind that last one.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been replaced by a shadow imposter!
Are you a bad enough dude to emancipate the PM?

Regarding the whole 7 deadly sins thing, seeing that a casino is seen in the beginning maybe the sins represents the dungeon themes? With casino being greed.

I don't think Morgana is female, judging by the way Ryuji treats them.

For me Morgana's mascot form is totatlly devoid of any female trait you could add to her. Thats why before knowing its name I thought it was male. But then i heard Morgana and, yep, thats totally a female cat (witch) name.
But who knows right now.
I always treat that fish character from the Gumball cartoon as a female because of its design (and the old spanish voice), and its definetly male.

Go one step further: Something inside the "dungeons" represent a sin, and it's what the characters need to steal for reasons. :p

Random thought because I read too much of the TV Tropes WMG pages again

If our protagonists are supposed to be a bunch of criminals, do you guys think there'll be a possibility of a sympathetic law enforcement officer or something going against the party? If only just to emphasize that the team isn't entirely in the right or something.

As some of you know, I went to see Persona Super Live the other day, and here I shall write about my experience therein.

I left at around 1 PM JST in order to get my place in line for the merchant booth. Unfortunately, everyone else did the same thing. The entire experience cost me around three hours worth of time, as well as extensive back pain and frostbite as I had to stand in the snow/rain. When I finally got to the front, half of the merch was sold out so I could only purchase:

-4 t-shirts
-2 Lotus Juice CDs
-One of everything else that wasn't sold out

I couldn't get any capsule toys, because the doors opened the second I was finished, so I went to the arena where I was given a tote bag with swag exclusive to Premium ticket holders:

The concert itself was amazing, opening up with the P4D video leading to Dance!, and new arrangements of prior Persona music. There was a segment where Lotus Juice brought out a cardboard cutout of Tanaka, and had the audience sing JIKA NET TANAKA while his head was in the cardboard cutout. There was also a segment of comedic banter which lead to Shoji Meguro being crowned "the most kawaii". Later on the five chairs appeared, exploded, and everyone became super heroes in Persona 5.

After the concert, they were passing these posters out which had more information about Persona 5 on the inside, but I can't read it ;__;

I also got these autographs, so SUCK IT TURBO NERDS

Or what about an even worse criminal gang involving corrupted cops? 0_0

Glasses exudes way too much personality, and combined with that he's leading multiple lives, one of them being "criminal", I don't see why or how he can be a "self-insert".
I'm not expecting him to be fully voiced or anything, but at this point, he's just way too developed already.

I'm continuing Persona 4 Golden and it's just so crazy having seen P5 gameplay.

I'm walking in the classroom and I can't help but think back to the classroom footage from the trailer earlier today. The jump in graphics.

Inevitable cultural trip to Inaba results in getting bored and doing some petty larceny only to be caught by that one high school girl's cop dad.

So, should Dancing work on PSTV?

Rather interesting trailer. It's interesting that some of my hopes/predictions/whatever actually did make it in and the final product is completely different than expected. For some reason I expected the game would have a bit more of a survival horror focus but this looks interesting.

So some interesting possibilities on gameplay or potential content based on what we know:
1) Given the occupations of these guys and the theme of breaking away from chains, we might get expanded out of combat/dungeon crawling gameplay? Maybe something more like Bully where you have a decent amount of stuff to do and optional content. If so, then the way time blocks work will almost certainly change.
2) Bit of sneaking and platforming for some more interactivity with the dungeons and the enemies seem to be present. Maybe they might implement traps or bait or something to lure shadows? It could possibly weaken them before a fight? That could be neat but I'm not expecting it.
3) I predict the calendar system will almost certainly change and as such, the structure of the dungeon crawling to socializing distribution will change too.
4) Given the gradual reintroduction of multiple/shared personas in the party in Q and the melee/ranged weapons and demon shadows in the trailer, we'll probably get a bit more of the older mechanics. Probably not negotiation but I'm guessing characters will probably be able to equip multiple personas. I don't know if they'll do it like PQ or if they'll do a revised form of P1/P2's but it would be cool. If the cast is small, it's certainly more likely.
5) I get a Mad Men/Great Gatsby feel for some reason. It's probably the building silhouettes and the way that one dungeon looked, I dunno. EDIT: Scratch that, I'm also getting a bit of a Clockwork Orange theme as well.

Gameplay speculation is a lot more interesting to me than story speculation since this is the meat and potatoes of a game. I dunno, what do you think might happen gameplay wise?

Or what about an even worse criminal gang involving corrupted cops? 0_0

Probably a gang of rival criminals or street toughs or something. This does happen pretty often in this kind of setting and if I'm right, we'll probably see them get one in the yarbles.

Just did this little test. Maybe the 7 sins/7 teamates theme is not that farfetched:

You can see that you can fit perfectly 7 character names inside the black area of the weapons menu.

I dont think the navigators of pass games were at the weapons menus, so maybe thats 8 characters in the team at the end of the day and the 7 sins thing is just another different thing inside the game. Or maybe theres no navigator at all. Who knows.

But yeah, the 4-5 characters in the team is not probably what is going to happen. So much unused space there would irk me as a designer with a huge black are of nothing.

If anyone cares, the game most likely takes place in 2016, but that's probably obvious to everyone considering the release of past games.

Do you think the protagonists will have duffle bags to aid in their heists or whatever?

Like, they could contain cool thievery tools, like grapple hooks, razors, wires, lockpicks, grapply hooks, smoke screens, night vision goggles, maps, grapple hooks...

(Some of these images are mine, some are from the original post in the trailer thread. I apoligize for the poop quality on mine, college net sucks >.<)

So someone pointed out in the trailer thread that when Protag falls, there's a red circle around his feet.

I watched the video again, and noticed that it's not just when he falls but when he walks around too.

I'm pretty sure this won't be the intro theme. The intro themes always have vocals.

It could easily be an instrumental version of it, with that guitar riff being the melody of the vocals.

The trailer showed off Shibuya crossing, right? Maybe the big Starbucks right in front?*

*Joking! Please don't sue us. ;__;

I hope it's a Beard Papa so I can name the MC Myriad Profiteroles.

Sooo... two days later I feel I can ask you... What else do you know :) ?

The game is basically a heist movie.

I might cry.

Yeah, Persona 5 being about heists is a real surprise. This comment before the P5 reveal was dismissed at the time, but now I actually do think it'd be cool to have a level of planning when it came to how to execute a heist, through the home base at the café. Another idea in the P5 thread was that "Cooperation" (or S. Links) could have a vital role when it came to performing missions, with people you befriend potentially helping you in different ways throughout a heist (either voluntarily or unknowingly).

Cool concept. Persona 5 is so different than practically anyone could have envisioned, and I love it.

I remember we joked about heists before the trailer happened and even went like "Grand Theft Persona".

And now it might actually be a thing...I LOVE IT! :D
