Not sure, but looks like Arsene has stolen several hearts: It's shown as a tally on his shoulder!

(Real talk, people's hearts are probably imprisoned by the "evil force", and we have to infiltrate and free them. Seems fairly straightforward to me).

I think they've already more or less confirmed its not going to be straightforward in quite that way.

New characters "rougher around the edges" than their predecessors. "On the run for doing what they think is right."

Oh yeah, in the end it might not be as straightforward. But it might start out as seemingly straightforward and then lead to a twist, quite like P3.

Heck, even P4 essentially has the same thing happen. At first they're just trying to stop people from getting murdred, but then they slowly realize that they're being used in a way.

That possessed train conductor might be a victim of "losing his heart" or something like that.

Also, the idea of the protagonists "stealing hearts" might be a metaphor for becoming sort of celebrities because of their ventures.

Wait what?

PQ/ULTIMAX SPOILERS:

Yosuke mentions the seven wonders after Yasogami High is transformed. Aigis and Teddie continue their conversation from PQ, despite having lost their memories of the original. And if you believe Rei/Niko = Labrys's mother, then the P3 epilogue has a scene involving her as well.

Wow, that's pretty cool.

That's what I'm thinking, yeah. Your theory about the hearts isn't bad.

I just hope we don't get the standard trope "you were unknowingly helping some evil guy, now you need to stop him because it's your fault if he's actually a threat"

I imagine that's what it is. But that that's familliar isn't bad. What matters are the specifics of it and how it's going to affect each of the characters.

After the thematic subversion they pulled off with the reveal, I'd be surprised if anyone can truly predict the direction Persona 5's story will take.

I'm hoping that P5 has a villain who is introduced early and remains a persistent threat throughout the game. Strega felt like the closest thing to a persistent villain in P3 but they were kind of lame, they just felt like walking plot points and never felt like an actual threat. The killer in P4 certainly felt like a threat however you never really get any interaction with them,
admittedly the limited interactions that you do have are fantastic.

Hopefully P5 is able to deliver a strong villain as I do love me a great antagonist.

The "thematic subversion" only worked because there wasn't much to speculate on anyhow. For the longest time we only had chairs, many chairs, chair on chair action, chairs summoning Personas, chairs summoning chairs as Personas, and more chairs.

The pre-TGS 2014 trailer was the first time we really got a proper look at the game. They did a pretty good job there, but even then there wasn't TOO much in that trailer either.

I'm impressed by the nature of the bait in switch regarding the main character, but I'm not so impressed to think we can't speculate where the game will go. :p

Nah, I'm not saying people can't speculate. I'm just saying that I feel like they'll have more than a few tricks up their sleeve, concerning Persona 5's story, which will take most of us off-guard.

I didn't mean it in the sense of an authoritative standpoint. I meant the switch wasn't so impressive that we're beyond being able to.

And yeah, they'll probably have some aspect we can't anticipate, especially because they're not revealing all their story details in a long 17 minute trailer this time. The final acts of Atlus games tend to be a total mystery.

I wonder what people were speculating on P3's and P4's stories before they were released.

Definitely. I remember seeing speculation on GameFAQs back when P3 was first announced in Famitsu Wave.

There was some story speculation in the Persona 4 thread, after the Famitsu reveal:
I'm also a bit concerned how predictable the story will be. I'm pretty sure that the killings are meant to mimic or follow the Tarot arcana, based on the pose the man is hanging from the telephone pole by-- its the same pose as on nearly all versions of The Hanged Man. Would that mean that scene is actually from much later in the game, if they murders are in order of Arcana?

Atlus is definitely keeping a bunch of story info close to chest, even the basic stuff. We don't even know if there will be a dark hour or TV world equivalent, we still don't even have a concrete idea how persona's work. On top of that we also don't know why time stopped in in that initial trailer as that didn't show up again in the gameplay reveal, Atlus is clearly drip feeding info in a way that encourages rampant speculation while actually showing next to nothing.

Rewatching the anime trailer again, and I noticed that right before it transitions to the Jason Statham looking shopkeeper, we get a brief anime clip of the heroes running away inside a building with debris falling around them. Given the design, I'm pretty sure it's the building that we saw the Phantom jumping around it (and perhaps even the Casino from the first part of the opening), but what's most noticeable is that the three humans are in costume but have their masks off, while Morgana is in the form of a regular cat. Any ideas?

Maybe Morgana can just transform at will and the cat form has more versatility for that sort of thing than the anthro form.

There may or may not have been something else, my memory of Ultimax is fuzzy. But yeah that's the jist of it. Ultimax has a lot of references to other installments in general.

The Aigis and Teddie convo is the most important one to me.
I really like that angle, the way Q and Ultimax's versions of it differ based on where Aigis is at in her life, and I like to sit and muse as to what causes the shining that they see.

Read through that whole entire thread. It's a bit weird to see how much they revealed about the game beforehand and I wonder if they are going to do it again. The video that comes with DAN is pretty much the last thing I want to see.

I've got a sneaking suspicion about who the final boss of DAN is.
Yet another shinto god that's the embodiment of those who refuse to feel that funky flow.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Japanese_deities

Benzaiten (弁才天 or 弁財天) Also known as Benten, she is the goddess of everything that flows: words (and knowledge, by extension), speech, eloquence, and music. Said to be the third daughter of the dragon-king of Munetsuchi, over the course of years she has gone from being a protective deity of Japan to one who bestows good fortune upon the state and its people. Derived from Saraswati, the equivalent Hindu goddess.[citation needed]

There you go.

Surprise! It's a modern god, the god of club music and the drop, formed by the latent desire of all human beings to play that funky music, white boy

So, without any spoilers. I am currently at the last boss of Persona Q now and I got my ass handed to me by
The Clockwork God because he is using that damn skill where he gives everyone a timer. I just gave every party member Recarm, though and I am trying to grind some levels.

I am level 68 with P3 Protag, P4 Protag, Kanji, Yukari and Aigis. Where is the fastest area to grind? I tried redoing the the latest extra boss in the Inaba Pride dungeon, but it takes way to long for the XP I get.
