My thoughts exactly, and I want to get into the P1/P2 after, with enough time to clear those before P5 comes out. I'm really thinking of just doing a FemC playthrough and avoiding FES. I noticed P3P is very P4ish too, with its all out attacks and functionality. It's just a shame that it doesn't have anime lol.

If you decide to go with P3P, these are the dates that have anime cutscenes
6/8
7/7
7/11
7/20
7/21
10/4
11/4
11/17
12/2
1/31
3/5

Going out of your to watch them is tricky, since you're bound to run into spoilers. It night be best to revisit them after you beat the game. But if you want, feel free to let us know where you are from time to time, and I'll try to see if I can hook you up with a few cutscenes.

True. But except for Aigis, this could be apllied for everyone in P3 I guess.

I think the Aigis thing is more of her wanting to protect the MC but can't remember why. (Until a certain night)

Super P3 Spoiler

Basically sealing "death" inside of MC when he was a child while standing on the Moonlight Bridge. (I'm not sure if it took place before or after MC's parents died, didn't catch or remember it being said) She couldn't out right defeat him, so she sealed death inside of MC when they were a child. She probably felt guilt not knowing of the repercussions that could have resulted from that.

I can't get over how different the atmosphere old Atlus evoked:

No one's been talking about Pepsiman's translated Persona 1 interview here. There's some really cool information in it.

It's hilarious to me that the real life model Kaneko used for Maki Sonomura came from what is apparently pornography.

This was explained by Aigis herself. She confirms this after her fight with Ryoji, when she gets fixed up and comes back to the dorms.

Honestly, i didn't mind Aigis' obsession, i found it cute and adorable, even before i began to like her as much as i do now. When multiple people do it though, it detracts from the experience.

Yes, that's right. She has a reason to act like that.

I found it interesting that the Velvet Room was based on the Black Lodge from Twin Peaks. I heard that Deadly Premonition was inspired from it as well.

I wonder how many other Japanese games are inspired from that show. Was it popular in Japan or something?

From what I've heard it's really popular over there.

Yeah, Twin Peaks was fairly popular in both Japan and parts of Europe. Other games that take inspiration from it are Link's Awakening and Alan Wake.

Time to go read Pepsiman's interview now that I actually have some spare time.

Interesting to note that Kaneko makes no time in pointing out the amount of female players Atlus games have.

Almost done reading through it. Man, Persona could have been a Battle Royale game:
Kaneko: I really loved that first [scenario] you came up with, the one about the field trip. That was an awesome idea!

Satomi: In that version, you would have had a party of 10-ish people and you'd get caught up in some sort of freak accident there and have to fight students from the other schools that were there, more or less.

Kaneko: It was great because school field trips are always these laid back affairs, but that was just the opposite.
I'll probably make a thread about it in gaming, so more people who care about Persona 1 and the series' origins can see it.

That Battle Royale setting sounds like it'd be utterly amazing for a potential Persona 6.

Kaneko: See, this is why you two aren't artists or all the guys would be blindingly handsome.

*SNRK* Oh god...

EDIT: Oh neat. I was wondering if the female St. Hermelin uniform was a one piece dress or a blouse + skirt, but they confirm the former right in the interview. Although it was modified to be a two piece outfit for the live action commercials, due to it's impractical design.

EDIT 2: THEY ACTUALLY JOKE ABOUT A POTENTIAL PERSONA KARTING GAME IN THE INTERVIEW:

Kaneko: What about a racing game? The Personas could be engines!

Satomi: I can see it already! V6 Persona!

Kaneko: Yeah, exactly! Some characters could have V16 Personas. Why not!? Who says it has to make sense?

Got try out almost everyone in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax minus both versions of Sho and Shadow Labrys (the unique character not the Shadow version of normal Labrys). Game seems pretty fun though it seems like the enemy ai is pretty bad you can spam that weak attack auto combo and 90% of the time the ai will just keep taking it.

You'd need to adjust difficulty settings. Spamming A is not a viable tactic against the highest level AI in that game. That especially goes out the window against Risky mode, Score Attack AI.

Yeah I know, I just find it bizarre that the default difficulty ai is such a push over. I get wanting to help ease new players into the game but still

Considering that Arena is the first fighting game a large portion of the audience will ever play, I really don't see how that's weird at all.

About that P1 interview, what I've read has been great, and I can't wait to sit down with the whole thing. Just from what I've read though, I love their attitude, they really don't take their work super seriously all the time, they still have fun with it.

As a filthy casual who plays on Normal Mode most of the time, I think the Ultimax AI are actually a bit harder than Arena's. I remember in the first one I could just spam the same attack and occasionally dodge and that was all it took on the default difficulty.

With Ultimax, I find myself having to be a bit more versatile on Normal though it's still pretty piss easy.

Make sure to play P4A's story before P4AU's story, just in case you were about to oddly do otherwise.

It's pretty interesting to think that, had they gone with that scenario idea for Persona 1 or Persona 2, those games would have actually predated Battle Royale with the "school trip gone wrong; students forced to battle each other" idea. It's something I've thought about for a Persona game before—loving Battle Royale and the concept of Persona user duels—but it seemed like a pretty outlandish idea, at least until now. It's still a pretty wild concept for Persona, but it's really cool to see that it was actually considered for the first game.

The cool thing is that, with Persona, it seems that they're open to trying several different kinds of settings and concepts. It gives the games their own distinct identities and keeps the series feeling fresh.

Wouldn't a Battle Royale just be like the first Persona 4 Arena anyway? They run around and fight each other in different parts of the school.

Well, not really since Persona 4 Arena is limited in scope both in terms of location and concept. I'm referring more to Satomi Tadashi's idea of what that would mean for Persona, not constant battles between friends because of illusions.

I just want to let all of you know that I am going to be deleting my YouTube accounts, as I want to work for ATLUS. I feel if I keep them up, it'd be like infringing on their copyright.

So, I'm taking them down.

Thank you all for subscribing to me and following my archives throughout the past two years!

Then I'd like to thank you for the effort you put in over all this time. I wish you luck in your attempts to get a job there.

Aww, thank you for the kind words, all of you.

I just want you all to know that I will still be posting here as usual, and talking about the latest news, giving my opinions, sharing theories, and the usual. I'll also be active on Twitter and eventually start visiting the IRC.

So, please, don't forget about me, everyone. I really hope I made all of you happy. It hurts a lot to have to take these down, but I know it's for the best. I don't want to possibly ruin my chances of working for ATLUS one day. I wasn't told by anyone to take the channels down, but I feel it's best if I do want to be part of the company one day. This decision is being made by me, so I don't want anyone to think I was told to do it or anything.

You all made fun of her. Mocked her social link. Laughed at her big apple head.

Who's all laughing now? >_>;

Nah, Arena's setting is pretty limited in scope. When I think of a Battle Royale setting, I think of like a handful of students from six or so different schools, all given the power of Persona, and all of them have to earn their freedom with it.

So, I've noticed something. I'm sure by now, many people know that the name of the school in P5 is an oral pun on the Japanese word for "prisoner." The school's name is Shujin High School. Shujin, as in prisoner, is written 囚人

However, the name of the school in P5 (Shujin High School) is written "秀尽学園高校" (The first two kanji make up the word shujin, and the last four make up the word high school academy) This is an oral pun that goes with what the game is based upon and the whole prisoner motif. However, the first two kanji seem to have some meaning that can be derived from them, like with prior Persona games, where the school name had something to do with the plot. Gekkoukan (月光館) means "the moonlight castle" which relates to a major plot point of P3. Yasogami (八十神) is "many gods" which relates to a major plot point of P4. So, it looks like P5 shares a similar formula with the school name.

The first kanji "秀" means preeminence. The second kanji "尽" can mean the last day of the month, or "end", "limit", and "extreme" Could the final day of each month tie into P5?

What does everyone think of this?

Hashino did say an unexpected event occurs at the beginning of the game. Maybe that event took place during the end of March, and each month, more things begin to happen. The word "preeminence" gives me that feeling. Maybe the cast needs to go into the dungeons before the end of each month in order to stop whatever happens.

As usual you put a lot of effort into making this work. It's a great Persona, and I especially like this line—It’s Ayane’s attempt at asserting herself, making her place known in the world that she has such a hard time doing. That said, I can't seeing Ayane look all serious is cracking me up.

Super obvious 'End of the world' plot?

You already have talent, so good luck now! Your sharing and searching work about Persona was amazing.

Thanks for the comments as usual, guys. Regarding Ayane's pose--her copying Ibaraki Doji was Chet's idea. He can be odd but he knows his shit.

Speaking of theories, I noticed a bit of a pattern with P3 and P4' s dungeons, and something that might pertain to P5.

So, in Persona 3 there are
9 Shadow Arcana fights, if we count the final boss and put the shadows that are fought on the same day together and 6 individual areas of Tartarus.

In Persona 4, there are
8 dungeons, 10 if we count Twisted Shopping District and Hollow Forest.

So, uh, You know how there are 9 sins listed in that one shot of Morgana from the trailer?

I'm thinking that maybe that correlates to what the bosses are? Or at least some of them and then plot twist happens?

I had a similar idea where each dungeon would be based off a sin. Maybe first is greed or envy cause it looks like an extravagant castle.
