I kind of agree in terms of a 'lifetime achievement' award, but i suppose turning around the ridiculous negativity surrounding Xbox with the XB1, to the Series consoles, Gamepass, and basically the huge amount of positivity around the Xbox brand this gen, is probably worthy of a huge award. I dont know how many could of done that really going from one gen to another. I think people forget just how much was going against XB1, 55mil sales or not, and how much in the dumps Xbox was.

The teams they did have were mismanaged, a great many of their relationships with 2nd party developers broke down and lots of games were cancelled. Yes the budget is smaller than it is today, but he mismanaged what he did have. For a while it was Fable, Forza, Gears and Halo on repeat, and then Fable fell off, and Halo dipped, and Gears went stale…

Crackdown was mismanaged.
The remedy situation was mismanaged.
Relationship with Crytek wasn’t managed well.
Scalebound.
Fable Legends.
Etc.

All of those were within his control.

Dude gave Xbox the life support it needed. From everyone ridiculing xbox to the console which has no games, to the console which has the best deal in the gaming industry, and big heavy hitter coming right away. That is something every xbox players need to proud of.

Xbox was the laughing stock. And now everyone is praising it.

I think money is only half the equation; you can give any idiot money, and they will often squander it. Just look at all the people who end up broke, even homeless, after winning the lottery.

Obviously yes, the resources afforded to Spencer from Microsoft are fortunate and important, but I think it’s a leap to look at that and think anyone could have turned the Xbox ship around after the One.
