Same style as Waking Life albeit in a more realistic fashion apparently. And yes thats Keanu Reeves starring in an adaptation of a Phillip K Dick story, but hey Ill give Linklater the benefit of the doubt

Trailer attached to Constantine.

Looks very cool. I loved Waking Life when I saw it back in the day (and I just bought it on DVD a few days ago BTW), so I'm looking forward to this muchly.

Interesting, didnt know they were doing rotoscoping with this one as well. Looking forward to it.

And there is no comparison to Appleseed since that's done entirely CG whereas this uses real actors and animates on top of them.. I dont even know why you would compare the two other than your fixation with talking down all things Japanese for some bizarre reason.

Wasn't my intention, sorry. Just trying to state that this kind of "cg" looks cooler to me than what's showcased in Appleseed and the like

First tragedy, then farce.

This is coming out in theaters? The art is terrible. It'll bomb.

since when has a Linklater film not bombed? It'll make its money just like his other films.

*Note: I know Dazed and Confused has made a ton of money, but it didnt in theaters.

Waking Life is one of my all-time favourite films.

I just really love this visual style. I hope the story holds up.

Edit: Read up on some of the original narrative. Sounds pretty cool and like it has the makings of a really trippy movie.

I'd suggest checking out the source material. It's barely even a sci-fi story except for 2 elements (only one of hem would be difficult to work around). I think going for this 'graphic novel' approach is the best way to represent Dick's pulpy scifi.

My main concern is for the script. . .and the tendency for PKD films to be disappointing.

What other movies are based on PKD stories? And I'm interested in checking out A Scanner Darkly to prepare for the film.

Uh, Alucard, like a trillion. Most well-known are Blade Runner and Minority Report.

Anyway, the pics look cool, but god I hope the animation isn't all jerky and wobbly and shit like in Waking Life. Couldn't stand that.

Hey, I'm just not very familiar with K. Dick's work. I do love Minority Report though. And I thought that the "jumpiness" of the animation in Waking Life was one of the things that made it so unique. Even if you weren't that interested in the dialogue, the screen was always alive.

Big fan of Waking Life here. This is the first time I've heard of this flick; I'm definitely going to check it out!

The Dick movie adaptations have been a mixed bag, or at least that's the word. I've seen and read the originals of Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report and I thought they all turned out very well. Haven't heard great things about the other stuff, though. In this case, I think A Scanner Darkly is shaping up nicely. I enjoyed the novel and I've been anticipating this for a while now.

I loved the style of Waking Life but though the movie itself was fucking terrible. Is this movie going to be just like it or have an actual story outside of random conversations?

It has a story, it's not a series of vignettes like Waking Life.

There was a documentary about Linklater on (UK) where they were on the set of this film, when the presenter spoke to Woody Harelson he pissed him off slightly by saying something like 'are you worried your performance is just as a cartoon character', Woody was quite offended by this "I'm real though, I'm acting, don't say that...".
