Pitchfork - The Best Music of the Decade So Far (2010 - 2014)

Genesis is so much better than Oblivion though... I would legitimately have no problem with Genesis at #1.

Why is it only radio pop songs on the list?

It makes sense considering pop artists are much better at singles then most genres.

Even poppy indie artists struggle with it often. Superbass is a fuckton better than Midnight City for example.

My problem with Pitchfork is that I get the impression they view the music industry through that typical elitist lens of "what is the back story of this artist". In other words, they're every bit as concerned with who the music is coming from, as they are about the music itself.

Oblivion is genius and deserves its place.

Video is so good.

35. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

this song is really good, i always heard it on the radio back in 2010 and wondered what it was! great stuff.

Video is so good.
Love it, and it kind of creeped me out when I first saw it. Now that I've actually heard the whole story about it, man. I see what it was going for now.

Grimes GAF checking in. I don't know if there is a Grimes GAF, but if there isn't... there should be.

Also... listening to Grimes high on a sunny day while outside is pretty baller.

Love how hard Pitchfork have gone in on the whole rap thing after ignoring/denouncing it for their first 15 years. Just follow that trend, boys.

Not a bad list. Voting by committee or even throwing together personal lists and presenting it to an audience will always draw jeers. The subjectivity and emotional responses people carry with music will never be not there.

Good list is good.

I don't even listen to a whole lot of music and I know that is an awful list. If I took that as fact then I would have to conclude that music is dead as an art form.

I really think you should give those tracks a listen, most of those are legitimately good.

Boourns. The Suburbs is a perfect song. And the rest of the album is excellent too.
They have, like, four or five songs on the list (Reflektor, Afterlife, Sprawl II, Ready to Start are the ones I can recall).

I like every song on the top 20 list. Frank Ocean is way too low, though. And my number one track would be a Weeknd song for sure.

Only thing that rubs my rhubarb the wrong way is the lack of DARKSIDE. A1 is a monster of a track. That entire EP is beastly.

It's up at 78 which is disappointing.
Oh gosh, I didn't even check the album list. Psychic is a great album (but I'd put the EP above it :P) it definitely deserves to be higher up there. I have a feeling it's going to help lead some future acts down some crazy roads.

They underrated the fuck out of Reflektor, especially since they gave it a 9.2 on release.

Edit: Bloom and Father Son and Holy Ghost as well.

edit 2: nothing against DJ Rashad but with an untimely death he wouldn't be getting 35th from p4k

edit 3: Lonerism and Halcyon Digest... really?

Will have to give Days another listen, thought it relied too much on instrumentals compared to Real Estate's first album. Usually only like instrumental work when done by bands like Godspeed and Swans.
