Im sure the kiss offended some people in middle east but its not whats wrong witht he movie. Its just not a great movie. not bad but nothing special.... and the bigger issue was its wasnt marketed corrected. People do not know where it fits in the toy story universe.
As its the movie andy saw it makes perfect sense that buzz has a different voice.

But yeah disney let its film and tv studios run wild with injecting sexual preference into kids cartoons. its not "dont say gay" its "dont talk about sex aty all to my 1 - 12 year old" and parents will vote with their wallets
THIS...

Personally, I am very concerned about this inclusion in the animations on these sensitive issues... and more being Disney.

The kiss got the headlines, but the trailer looked more like a Dreamworks movie than a Pixar movie. We knew all along what happens when a Buzz meets a Woody.

I disagree. There are plenty of reasons to have LGBT stories and moments in Disney movies and shows. The issue is that, much like general romance, there is a time and a place. It doesn’t need to be in every film. If it was a random Heterosexual romance, I would be equally wondering “Why is this here?“ as I did with the homosexual relationship.

Not even close to a flop, Disney don't care about a $20 million shortfall. I expect most liberal and progressive parents will go see it 3 or 4 times now to own the 'phobes and conservatives.

Most American and maybe European companies are now, so it seems.

Especially so with gaming and comics, maybe even worse than Hollywood.

It's just funny to see people just have issues with only Disney when it should be all the companies. How about Sony Pictures, how about WB, how about DC Comics, how about Sony Playstation, how about Nintendo?

That's why I like Japan but the western Rot is gonna to start to infect the Japanese companies and I can see it killing off alot of companies left and right over there like it's gonna to be happening over here

The coolest thing about the ,movie is that the last shuttle launcher is a remade space mountain.

Showing these films (About you know) , they give problems in the conflict of gender identity in childhood

I might be wrong but I think a lot of this crazy wokeness originated from the gaming industry. It's sort of striking back at the "Gamergate bros". At least that's where I started noticing it was right when Gamergate was starting up. After that, Me Too, Floyd and Trump really caused gaming and the rest of entertainment industry into full woke mode.

I noticed that too

Not a gamergater but it's amusing to see certain people using it as a boogeyman to this day. I mean it's a dead movement

Also as for Playstation I think the wokeness/feminazism started with Playstation 3

Buzz lightyear is 'to infinity and beyond', appears in Toy Story and voiced by Tim Allen. The backstory is of no interest and a lazy premise. They don't even use the original voice actor.

Do I want a spin off about Alfred from Batman working for Burmese government eating tangerines? Nope.

Indiana Jones filing his tax return and eating potato salad? He is a character in a movie, don't need more information or back story.

The movie was surprisingly decent and had a lot of heart.

Buzz sacrificing himself in order to correct a past mistake was an astonishingly adult theme that got masterfully repackaged as a kid's movie. Seeing Buzz try and fail again and again and again only to see his friends go on with their lives as they got older and older was really heartbreaking. As the movie progresses, he learns that our mistakes are what shape our character and despite our mistakes, we should learn to assume the consequences.

For a kid's movie, Buzz Lightyear certainly presents the right morals, upholding duty, honest care for those around you, striving for excellence while also accepting one's own shortcomings and those of others. Great action, top notch animation, good sci-fi and likeable characters, the movie has all the ingredients of past Toy Story movies.

Yes, there are lesbian parents featured in the movie, but contrary to the woke stuff out there, it is integrated well into the story. It's just treated as a normal thing and absolutely not rubbed into your face like with so many other movies. Same-sex parents are a thing and I had absolutely no issue with that. In fact, it's a parade example of how such themes should be handled.

It's a good movie, go see see it with your kids!

Very surprising, these movies are usually surefire hits. Not really sure if I agree with OP about Tim Allen being a factor though lol
When everything in the world is Disney, eventually, some big Disney movies are going to be flops. Content, content, soulless content.

This was a dumb idea for a movie. I hope it flops. We don't need a Woody western, either.

Well we are gonna to get more consolidation coming. Wouldn't be surprised if Disney ends up buying WB and DC Entertainment. Than Disney gets bought out by Apple. That would be interesting to see lol

lol at people thinking this movie bombed because of some dumb woke idea ( Disney is doing just fine. If this was Toy Story 5 it would of made $100+ million. )

This movie bombed because it looks “straight to home video”. Plus the marketing sucks and I have no clue why Tim allen wasn’t involved. It’s a confusing concept all around

So, in universe, in 1990, Chris Evans is the voice of movie buzz lightyear but for the toy he refused to voice some lines so they had to get Tim Allen to do it?

So is Tim Allen doing a Chris Evans impersonation or is it the other way around???:p

He has conservative views basically.

Nothing to do with it. Talk like Tim Allen didn’t just voice buzz in Toy Story 4 three years ago.

Again, the concept was a bizarre one. Also, movie was designed I think for Chris Evans in mind.

We chose not to take our kids because of the way Disney is coming across as anti family and trying to push their agenda on kids.
I really wanted to see it with my kids. Then it was discovered that the same sex kiss was taken out but then added for political reasons. I hope that Hollywood realizes eventually that a lot of families in this country don’t want some of these values in their homes.

I refuse to believe anyone interesting in seeing this movie isn't going because fucking Tim Allen isn't voicing Buzz.

2019 is not 2022 in terms of the mob rule.

I can find all the whining about wokeness and companies going woke in numerous threads on neogaf in 2019. Has nothing to do with it.

If there was a toy story five announced tomorrow, Tim Allen would be voicing Buzz. Would be a stone cold lock UNLESS he chose not to do it. If was a bet, would be like -100000 Tim Allen would be voicing Buzz.

There is nothing morally wrong about having LGBT stories in a Disney film.

The issue, at least when it comes to Lightyear, is that it doesn’t feel like it even belongs. Each moment it is referenced on screen and the “Easter eggs” all feel like forced inclusions. They add nothing to the plot, nothing to the characters, and feel wholly out of place with the tone and nature of the narrative.
There is. Being gay is not the normal. As a gay guy I never want to normalize the abnormal. I don't want to see gay kiss, especially in a kid's movie. Not about hate, just society and movies should always promote healthy lifestyles.

Nah mate, I hate f*cking woke'ism and LGBTQ+ pandering, but same-sex couples can be perfectly fine parents.
The reactionary outrage over the mere depiction of lesbian parents is absolutely laughable and borderline homophobic.

This is not an attack on family values and the movie will certainly not make the frogs gay either.
It was a friendly wink not an insult man. Too much of that today

Seeing the rise in socially induced transgenderism, I would say it's a duty for a sane nation to forbid such content. It is an attack to family values and I'm glad after these years we're getting back to a backlash on the hate of hetero nuclear families.

Respect non heteronormatives, but don't promote it.

I have to deal with many close friends battling monkeypox, why woulld anyone promote such lifestyle and normalise it I will never get it.

How is the film hating on hetero nuclear families?

It's promoting a deviant lifestyle. Not hating, just it doesn't promote a strong society.
I've not seen the film so I'm not sure exactly what's in it. But from my understanding there is a lesbian couple who are parents and there is a moment where they kiss. Is there anything else to it? Is that really something that is going to undermine society?
