Since the Switch 2 is selling so well, do you think there will be exclusive games for it from third parties?

Probably not. Is there any evidence of 3rd party games selling better than on Nintendo Switch than other platforms that would make devs think its a good choice? Unless they're paying for exclusivity for something like Duskblood, I cant see a Take 2, EA or Ubisoft forego releasing their games on Playstation and PC for a platform dominated by legacy IPs.

Momotaro board game 2 is exclusive to Switch 2 where the first game and its expansion sold more than Monster Hunter and FF games in Japan which is around 6 million units.

No because these companies want to sell as many games as possible. If it can run on a Switch 2, it won't have any problem playing on PS/Xbox. If the game is good, people are going to want it across all platforms. What advantage would there be for a third party developer to only make it for Nintendo?

Come on NINsters, you know how this works…. 99% of your 3rd party games will be PS4 games that are regularly 10 bucks in bargin bins and you will get a full price tag on them lol.

Did you miss the Switch? It sold a shit ton too but you got 5 dollar and below 360 and PS3 games for full price. Don't worry you have moved on up now though to PS4 games. 🤣

It's a bit unclear for now, as every single regional Nintendo page lists From Software as the publisher. In reality, nothing was really said about Nintendo publishing it on the West on that initial PR, just 'From Software/Nintendo', and I'm starting to think that it was just a retail distribution deal.
FromSoftware always self publish in Japan, but I don't recall any game they published themselves outside of Japan.

Full exclusive? No. Timed exclusive? Yes.

I don't need exclusive games BUT I love it when third parties scope their games for Switch and now S2 and also release them everywhere. Those games tend to be extremely well optimized and look great on everything. Things like Octopath, DQ3, Star Ocean, Falcon games, etc.

I have to say, I completely forgot about this game.
Who can blame you. Nintendo is allergic to marketing Switch 2 games for some reason.

The only reasons I can think of to make a third party game exclusive these days are:
  1. There was a moneyhat to keep it exclusive.
  2. You're a cash strapped or indie developer and you don't have the resources to develop for multiple platforms, so you target the one where you're likely going to make the most money.

Nintendo will probably land a few exclusive deals with other devs like they did with the Switch. Astral Chain from Platinum Games comes to mind. And now Duskbloods from Miyazaki and From Software. Nintendo probably gonna have lots of third party indies that is timed exclusives.

Nintendo is the physical distributor of GTA, but they are not the publisher.

Being the publisher is how Nintendo classifies first party games to investors.
I wouldn't call Marvel Alliance 3 as a first-party title regardless, it is a Marvel-owned IP and the publishing rights of the licence were previously with Activision.

But I guess the best example would be Fast RMX and Fast Fusion

Astral Chain is different, the IP is now owned by Nintendo

Idk, something weird from Level5 or Capcom or even Sega cause of Steller Blade. And some studios just don't buy the idea of exclusives turning into multiplatform.

Sure, some, but not a ton.

There might be slightly more than is typical only because the S2 isn't in the same power envelope as PS5/XSX and certainly won't be able to keep up with PS6/NextBox. More likely though these will be either low-budget timed console exclusives or custom versions of more intense multiplats.

We'll only really see once its total population reaches critical mass. It's off to a strong enough start that companies will want to "get in early," but the audience isn't massive yet.

Lol...selling well???

Haven't you heard? Third party support has completely collapsed and they're going to stop making the Switch 2 soon. No point in continuing production.

Let's start by not missing out on almost anything important multiplatform, as is happening now with Switch 2. The list of games announced for PS, PC, and Xbox is endless, and then we'll talk about some exclusives.

Yes, but fewer than Switch since there's economically very little incentive for console exclusives anymore for third party games unless they are being given a ridiculous amount of money.

there will only be timed exclusives that will come to Switch 2 first because it's a small dev and they don't have the manpower to port to everything at once, so the Switch 2 will be the first one they launch on.
This logic/ business math would only apply to small scale/ indie games, FWIW

Already happened with Duskblood

Will likely continue to happen
Who owns the IP?
Nintendo or FromSoftware?
If it's FromSoftware then we can assume the exclusivity is timed.
If it's Nintendo, then it's not really a 3rd party exclusive, but a 1st party developed by a hired studio (like LittleBigPlanet 3 and Sackboy Adventure).

No, because third party games don't sell well on Nintendo hardware unless its an indie game. I have all the systems and the only third party game I would buy on the Nintendo Switch 2 is Silksong.

Japanese Maybe but Triple A Chinese will be non existent. Even though I'm not saying it can't happen but I would be surprised if Black Myth Wukong releases on it.

Like Nintendo dropped some serious coin to make Duskbloods Exclusive.

From Japan? Yeah, probably, but then they'll use the money to port the game to other platforms, Switch 1 already got a bunch of Switch + PC only titles

The only major third party exclusives that any console will get moving forward are the ones that are financed directly, or just straight up first party produced like Bloodborne.

The first two Marvel Ultimate Alliance games were third party, since Activision was the the publisher. But for the third game Nintendo was the publisher, which is why its on the list of first party games below:

Think of it like Spiderman for example. The Activision-published games are third party. But the one Sony published on PS4 is first party. Similar with the Indiana Jones, the one that Microsoft published on Xbox Series is a first party game. Bu there have also been previous Indiana Jones games that were third party.

Something like these. There were certainly more, but these are the ones I played.

No unless Nintendo funds it, even an exception like the autism of vanillaware wouldn't make sense because they'd put their game on playstation and Xbox as well just no PC. The (not funded by console maker) 3rd party exclusive era is largely dead.
