PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

MUnited83

For you.
So, after my initial purchase, and then refund, I've re-purchased the game again after these performance patches.

Well, performance is still terrible, I have to play on lowest settings to be able to reach 60fps, which is disgracefull. But this isnt what annoys me the most, what annoys me the most is :

The delay when opening dores, picking up items, entering vehicles...this isnt an issue just with me, all my friends have this, not on all games though, but on a good majority theres a delay when interacting with something.

Theres 3 ways to aim, from the hip, clicking right button, and ads, and all 3 aim at completely different places...so, which one is the real one? Just the ADS basically.

The fact that you cant switch shoulder is quite annoying as well and makes no sense in a game like this, but well.

Considering all this, I still had fun playing with some friends, but I cant recommend this to anyone, its still way way unfinished. It also seems strange that all these battle royal take place in the same areas (rural with small towns and maybe a military post), it gets tired pretty fast, why dont we have city maps ( Imagine somehting like The Purge), seems like none of these games are really inovating on anything.
Eh, to be fair many of those complaints just seem coming from lack of knowledge of the game.

Firstly, it's a Early Access game and clearly marked as such, with all that entails.
New maps are being worked on and are different from the one existent right now.
There are several ways to aim and every single one is "the real one", you just have to know how and where to use them appropriately.
You can absolutely switch shoulders. E and Q

no offense but why would you buy an early access game and expect a finished product or a game with like 1000 props and 100 players and expect a lag free experience

also all the modes of aiming are useful in different situations

I think he meant switching shoulder permanently, not just when aiming.
So yeah its not possible.

Also, holo have a bit of zoom while RDS doesnt. Tested it myself to be 100% sure.

This game is so fun! I've gotten so damn close to winning more times than I care to count but I haven't managed to get it and boy do those close ones piss me off so much but I can't get enough.

I don't think I have played a game that makes me feel so tense and on the edge of my seat more than this one.

I know the game is EA and all but I wonder how much better it is going to be once it's done (if it get finished that is). The jank for one I hope is gone by the time the game releases.

The game is far from perfect but I have seen improvements since I originally purchased it. Even if it never leaves Early Access I've put enough hours in (and had enough fun) with my friends to justify my purchase.

That girl in the bunny hat
Picked this up after watching a couple streamers play (like Last_Grey_Wolf and the whole NLSS crew). Started streaming it myself. Managed a 3rd place solo off-stream, and managed to be live when my three-piece crew got in a 3v1 finale.

I'm totally addicted at this point. Which surprises me, I haven't enjoyed a multiplayer game in forever and I never like realistic shooters. Guess the tension really does it for me, plus having a reliable squad.

That said, I have a brand new computer and at high settings I almost expected it to burst into flames. Hoping for a few more performance improvements over time.

Had terrible luck tonight with three fucking games where I ended up starting in the same area as another group, and the first few buildings I went in had no guns, and their's had. Fucked over by RNG.

If you want to eliminate the RNG factor as possible, try to go in the furthest zone possible. If you really want it, you would be alone in your area 9 time out of 10

I do, doesn't always work out that way though.

I can win the early game fights like that when I can actually get a gun, even if they get guns.

Also I just died because I got stuck between a corner in two outdoor walls. I went prone, then it wouldn't let me go back to standing or crouching. I had a buddy shoot me, couldn't move while knocked out. He revived me, still couldn't move. RIP

Oh man I just had a game where I placed 3rd I probably would of won if the RNG for the final 2 circles been in my favor as I had to keep running into the play area and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place as the final 2 was on left and right of me and I had to run to get into the play area which ment easy pickings on me. Got my heart racing though.

I think you don't have it already, no offense !
I play so passively in solo that i don't have any gunfight until top20 most of the time.

I do like that : going to more further place possible where there is 2 or 3 house not far. Find a car and some basic gear. Find a house in to the heart of circle and hide in it, i don't shoot people if they don't represent an immediate danger. The real tension and fight start at top20.

This way i almost never go under top20, most of the time in top10.
Of course it's a nightmare of boredom for some people, but for me it's really exciting.

I don't understand what you mean by the bolded.

Many of my games I do get to 20 (although admittedly I haven't played solos much lately). We have had just had some bad runs (like tonight) where we had situations like the above.

In our group, the most successful strategy was to get geared to the point where we were confident in our gear, then just head to the center of the circle (a good building to hide in there), and go from there based on how the circle shrinks.

Sorry, english is not my first language: i meant that i don't think you have the passive approach completely integrated yet if you still rely so much on RnG for getting a decent gear. Of course, in squad or duo, it's more complicated.

RnG play a way more important role in the lasts circles, though.

I get that a lot of people hate RnG, and it can be really frustrating some time, but i really think the game will be boring as hell without it.

I agree that the game still needs the RNG. I don't think there's realistically any way for the developers to counterract getting screwed over by it, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating when you lose to it though.

And yeah, for sure RNG can really mess with the last few circles. The worst ones are the ones that force you out of cover, but not the last group, and they're behind the only cover in the circle.

I just had a really wacky murderous round where I killed three people in quick succession with the Vector, two of whom drove in (one guy drove a car into a tree) and couldn't figure out whether to get out in time, then a guy in a Level 3 helmet watched me flip my UAZ and then just... assumed I couldn't see him standing up because he thought he was in a bush or something, so I just stood up behind the UAZ (which righted itself) and popped him three times faster than I thought possible, then after dodging sniper fire the whole match I found a house with a Dacia outside of it on a good remote part of the circle, shot open the bathroom door from outside, walked in and peeked to see a guy around the corner.

Me: Hey how ya doing

I was riding pretty high on myself so I threw a stun grenade, only for him to pop back out right before my animation switching back to the Vector was finished. He had a Saiga.

Him: Prrrrretty good.

I actually had to hand it to him.

I am also assuming that many of these kills are because of the ELO reset, because some of these guys just stood there assuming that I could not see them.

I landed in duo with no one around. Very first building, SCAR + clips + medkit right in front of the door.

I went to check the second building and my game crashed for only the second time ever. Too lucky to live. :(

Ultimately I think one of my biggest problems with the game besides the laggy controls will be the sheer volume of the gunshots. I have to keep my overall volume reasonable to try to prevent further tinnitus, but you can't really hear any footsteps unless the gunshots become INSANELY loud.

I know it's realistic, but I'll sadly have to choose my hearing over that. :p

Had some great games with a GAF Squad tonight. Scored some chicken dinner and had some memorable games. Unfortunately as far as all my video capturing experiences go my microphone continued to let me down so I'm as mute with a microphone as Bernardo was without one. :(

My issue isnt with 3 amining modes, thats fine, its just because all 3 aim to different locations, seems very very weird.

Yeah I love the ump X10 more now that I mainly use it in 3rd person.

It's only while aiming unfortunately which is kind of dumb.

Also, remember that bullets actually fire out of the gun barrel (or you know, in the front of it).

So use that as a guide if you're not sure if you're going to hit a wall or something.

The funny thing is, in real life, you can easily adjust for say bars in a window getting in the way, but you can't here. It's like when being real goes wrong.

edit: I wonder how hard it would be for them to code a check to see if in front of the barrel is clear of obstructions and move it slighting to an area that isn't? It'd make more sense realistically and it'd be better in a gameplay sense because what it does now is pretty stupid (if on purpose).

Just had my first win. That was nuts!

Started off just outside of a town with no one in the area but as I moved in people in vehicles moved in to check the area I just picked through, came up from behind and killed both. Made my way north up a hill as the area kept closing in but didn't encounter anyone until I got attacked from behind from someone I couldn't see, thankfully I had JUST found a freaking Med kit and used it, I couldn't find the guy who shot me so I moved forward and found a freaking bunker.

The area was getting much smaller by this point so I decided to hide in the bunker, at this point there were 15 left and I decided to hide in this little area in the very back right when I did so... someone else came in, likely trying to do the same thing he stayed hidden and there was a good 2-3 minutes I was waiting to see if he would turn his back so I could surprise him or just figure out if he could see me but he was huddled in a corner and I was behind some crates so I didn't think he could. Finally the area was closing in and we both were going to HAVE to move, I waited to see if he was going to move and he wasn't and the area would hit me before him so I figured I had to take a chance, I moved out and shot him twice with my shot gun and took him out before he ever got a shot off. Couldn't loot him but he didn't seem to have any armor on so I wasn't bothered much by that.

By this point there were 5 people left, I was still in the bunker although only the entrance, the area was going to move again so I was going to have to move so I got just outside the entrance and could hear people shooting at each other, 2 more died only 3 of us left. As I exited I could see one guy hiding behind a tree, I took him out with my M16 he never saw me and apparently the other guy didn't either as I was covered by a hill. With only two of us left I went prone and crawled up the hill only to see the last guy hiding behind a tree opposite from the guy I just killed. Took him out and it was over.

Man that was great, that Med Kit saved my freaking tail. 5 kills in all. This is one of the few games in the alpha/beta stages that is just so much fun to play and really feels like a solid experience all around.

I am sucking so much ass today. Cant seem to kill anyone. I need a change and am thinking about trying to join a squad.

Would anyone who plays on as servers be up for a game?

I don't think that the bullets come out of the barrel, try lying down on a hill and shoot downhill, even though your barrel has a clear line of sight your bullets just collide into the dirt right in front of you. I have had many situations where i have had a clear line to the enemy but the bullet will get caught whatever is under the weapon.

The struggle is real with the final 1-2 circles. So much about it is having a good camping position while the blue circle is closing, something I need to improve with my timing. I'm great at getting Top 20 but highest I've gotten is #4 and typically I'm getting blindsided in that last circle by someone I don't have a chance to react to.

Just had my best match, #3 of 95 solo. The end get's really intense. I was armed with nothing but a pistol, but managed to be super sneaky until getting snipped at the end there.

There was me, a dude driving a car like a madman, and the sniper I never saw... so close!

Huh, miss information from a youtube video I guess.

Did another game and got second felt pretty good I just ran out of ammo for my rifle and had to use my shotgun and wasn't close enough to kill the final guy and he got me before I could get him :(

Anyone ever get those "perfect" games where you get fully stocked and still end up losing? I just had one of those and boy is it soul crushing. I landed at the top side of the map and got to loot the apartments and town up there alone which got me level 3 armor, a silenced AR and medical supplies. Then, afterwards I traveled north and managed to get two separate crates, one of them with a M249 which I ignored but took the level 3 helmet and ammo and another one with my very first Ghillie Suit and M24. I ended up camping on a hill down south for awhile and killed a few people, but came in 3rd at the end.

Got two clips from my bush camping. Being in a bush with a Ghillie Suit is such a great feeling. It felt like I was practically invisible.

Was it ever determined if any (non-supply crate exclusive) loot has a chance to spawn anywhere, or is some stuff only restricted to certain types of buildings? Obviously it makes logical sense to go where more loot spawn areas are, but wondering if shit like a Kar98k with 8x can technically spawn in a fuckboi cabin, even if the odds are astronomically low.

I'd love to be able to have a smaller map where we all dropped in with Ghillie suits and suppressors.

That's a good question, also fuckboi cabin is hilarious. I'm surprised this game doesn't have more inside jokes.

Finding a perfect spot of cover to heal on the edge of the blue right as your health is draining away and then getting sniped five inches away from it may be one of the most soul crushing experiences ever put into a video game.
