The number of times I've just jumped out of a moving car and died in this game is ridiculous. I don't know why I always find myself bumping the F key while driving.

Had a really good run going last night and just dove out of a car while driving through a field.

I need to stay away from vehicles.

I'm brand spanking new to PC, but I've watched this game so much on Twitch that it feels pretty surreal to finally be playing it.

Made it to top 10 last night (6th) and my heart was racing. Not bad considering im an absolute novice at kb/m 😅

Editing settings file comes at a risk of causing crashes or even getting lower fps though, so I would avoid that (that guide is really old).

Not any that works (that I'm aware of).

What I did was turn on CPU auto OC in bios, set everything to low except textures which I keep on high (I like the better look) and I have OKish fps. I have a pretty beefy setup tho, and I'm running 1440p.

Wasn't there something said about the game where the low end options are more CPU intensive, but the high end options are GPU intensive?

I know, at least before the last patch, there were reports that turning up the options increased the framerate.

Nah. Bad net code is bad net code. Some servers are butter smooth and others aren't.

hate to disagree, but nope, "wrong!".

100% of my games were rubber band hell-scapes on wifi, switch to wired, 100% lag-free.

switched back again to double check, same thing.

so yup, that was my personal hot-fix, now this game is SUPER fun [whereas before it was just fun].

I guess I should have clarified that I don't know if he was talking about straight up lag or the whole server desync between players and delay to open doors/pick up/get in cars that is supposed to be what they are addressing in the big monthly patch.

Got a collateral double headshot with a SKS from about 300m. Downed them both. I was on the phone though and only when I rejoined voice did my friends (who were dead and spectating) tell me that it was a collateral. I didn't realize it at the time. FEELS GOOD

I did the same on my stream the other day and started screaming in joy

Call out weapons and armor when you find them, especially if you're stocked up and your friends are missing items.

Use the compass at the top to call out enemies or vehicles: "2 guys at 165"

Don't shoot someone and give away your position unless it's life or death (Or they're in your way to where you want to go and you'll have to get through them eventually)

If you're in a really good position inside the circle you can definitely hide but I find that boring.

If you want to get easy top 20, the normal steps are:

1. Mark somewhere on the map far away from the airplane's path. Pick a place with 3+ medium to large buildings. Use right click to mark the map.
2. Jump out of the airplane somewhere that's near a big road and vaguely near where you want to go.
3. Hold W and look down to dive as quickly as possible. As you get near the ground, scout out a vehicle.
4. Jump in the vehicle as soon as possible, and immediately drive to your destination. Don't use boost, and don't jump out while moving.
5. Hide the car if possible (next to your building means easier getaway but it might be spotted, take your pick). Loot the buildings you marked.
6. Depending on where the circle spawned, drive somewhere in the middle that doesn't look looted. Loot the building and sit in the closet with a gun.
7. You now have top 20.

The downside is that you might get bored, and you might have bad luck with loot so the endgame people will kill you. You can still win with mediocre equipment, since the endgame is a mix of luck and positioning -- trying to make sure no one is behind you as you push from the endgame circles outer edges. Note that the last few circles kill people very quickly, so as soon as you wait like 15-20 seconds you should be clear of people behind you.

And yeah, DO NOT shoot anyone unless you have a silenced gun, a very good kil chance, or they're shooting at you. Otherwise people will just know where you are and murder you afterwards.

It's like playing a horror game, or a fighting/brawling rogue-like game depending on how far do you make it. It's fun but it really tests your frustration tolerance.

i mean, i've never experienced such a difference between the two before [although wifi always has a slighty worse ping in my fps games], but this is HUGE for this game.

played an entire day with shitty rubber-banding yesterday, and another day with zero rubber-banding today!

My top 20 advice was for duo, so I just double-checked it in solo to make sure. Here is an illustration of my top-tier strategy:

I dropped on the northeast coast near a boat and had plenty of time to loot some spawn island buildings and get assault rifles and tons of ammo. The funny thing was, when I drove back to the mainland I found the cliffs were in the circle. That's not common, so I parked the boat under a massive cliff and sat there.

It turns out the first 2-3 circles all included the cliff, so I just sat until I was top 15-20. Then I made my way inland, killing 1 guy, until I got shot at top 6.

While the wait between matches isn't too bad, I think it'd be cool if they had an optional "Retry" button (Or whatever name fits) so that you can go directly from your death screen into another game and you bypass the main menu altogether.

A bunch of unsatisfying rounds on tilt today and yesterday, and then today I had a fun one where I got into a couple of great shootouts.

-Shootout near the big warehouse. He shot someone out of their UAZ, I tried to ambush them near the fuckboi shed from behind a stone wall, we had a back and forth, I shot out a rear tire so he couldn't escape, he ran before I could blow up the UAZ, I tossed a grenade, then I decided to pop up and UMP them. When I saw the wall, the inside of my head, and a death message I was all, "Aw, damn it," then after a pause I realized I had actually killed him. He blew off my Level 3 helmet right before I killed him and I had blown off his, but luckily there was a Level 2 in the house nearby.

-I decided to brave the bridge trolls since it was looking like a southern island circle, when a UAZ pulled in front of my buggy heading for the bridge. I switched to the backseat and dumped rounds into him as he circled around, then as his UAZ started smoking he dumped it in the field and ran for the buildings and we poked out and started shooting in close quarters. A third guy came up through the fields and it turned into a three way of frags, molotovs, and smokes being thrown. Eventually as I tried to corner third guy, UAZ guy was brave enough to run up on me and get me, and as my voice encouraged him post-mortem to get the other guy, I saw the death message pop up as third guy emerged over the wall.

It's only available on Steam, the website even links you to the store page (no direct sales). Maybe wait for the summer sale, but I wouldn't expect more than 10-20% off/.

Make sure you turn everything on Very Low besides maybe Textures and View Distance. It does need optimization.

Maybe you got really unlucky, crashes are very rare normally.
The game needs very beefy CPU atm.
Try everything very low and medium textures.
