This patch is amazing. I get almost 144fps in certain areas.
Also I like how they tweaked the circle being more spread now. Five dudes just died to the first circle because they weren't paying any attention.

When on a killing spree eliminating the other 4 man squad that dropped with us in Rozhok. Too bad teamates sucked.
Feels like the hit detection was corrected? Landing really good pump shotgun shots and it finally registers and kills people.

There is a patch out? Doesn't download anything for me.
Restart the Steam, should kick start download.
Patch is almost 5GB so you would notice it dropping.

I would say yes. I knew next to nothing about the game a month ago and now it is my go to game for quick matches and I already have 30 hours in. It is both fun and competitive without ever being frustrating
Also if your CPU is recent, you should be good to go!
Depends really on what kind MP experience you are looking for. BG is round based PvP game where you spawn in, paradrop to chosen spot on island, loot gear and try survive until you are only one left. If and when you die you spawn into new round and start all over again.
No survival mechanics like thirst or hunger.
Only gear you spawn with is clothes on your back.
To get good idea about gameplay and gameplay loop you may want hit up Twitch and watch some streams, if fully unaware about how BG plays.
To me game is enjoyable even with its problems (devs are constantly hammering at it!) and I have put around 200h into it, including pre-EA closed beta.
Can't comment on 970 performance as I have 980Ti.

I've read that there's a new patch that boosts performance so i'll wait for more new impressions from 970 owners.

I have a 970 GTX paired with an i5-4690k and with everything on a mix of low/medium/high settings I'm getting 70-90fps (1080p) most of the time in the game. I get random drops down into the 40's in cities but that seems to be happening to everyone regardless of their setup.

I haven't had a chance to try the new patch yet but people are saying performance is even smoother.

For longest time CPU wasn't really factor in PC gaming if you have i5 2500K or newer. Only over past... 2-ish years CPU has started to become bigger factor again.
I'm still not getting max utilization out of my GPU, but that's fine. On my mix of custom settings I'm averaging 103fps at 1440p.
Pistol with red dot sight already came in handy. Guy was in another building not too far away waiting for someone to come through the door. Was able to pick him off with an easy headshot with the red dot attachment.

I've got an older CPU (i5-3570. Stock speeds), 16gig of ram and a 970. I've got everything set at very low apart from shadows (medium), textures (high) and view distance (high). Before the patch it was garbage in the lobby and the plane and mostly 50-60 on the ground. I tried the patch last night on the test server and performance was stupidly improved. I got mostly 60 in the lobby of all place and a much more steady 60 with occasional dips on the ground. Same settings.
I haven't tested this post patch but pre-patch I needed to play in full screen. Borderless windowed tanked my frame rate.

Patch is great. Played a clear skies round this morning solo.
Can actually get into a car with one "use" press now, and it's instant vs. before you had to press it at least twice and then wait a moment.
Performance is definitely improved for me as well, noticed a slight FPS boost and minimal drops even when in the field area.

Game feels smoother, faster and runs better for sure. I was pot-shotting a player about 500 metres away with an AKM and 8x scope, and hit them about 4 times all up. I don't think I would have come close to registering a hit that far away with an AKM before the patch.
The tweaked RNG completely fucked me over at the beginning of a few rounds with a few double-storey houses that didn't have a single weapon at all, not even a melee weapon. I don't think that's the right way to go, making it about who lands closest to the only house out of four to get the only gun. They've gone super-stingy with the loot and ammo it seems.

Running it with a 970 16gig and i5 4690k everything low except textures high and after patch I get like 70-110 frames depends on area. Game looks fine with the settings.

The patch is on live servers already. And yes performance is much better.
Everyone is worried about performance and I am running the game just fine with my i72600k and gtx 670. I mean settings are mostly low but hey less foliage means I can see you hiding.
I thought they changed it so foliage is the same across the board?

I have the exact same CPU, and similar experience. Just ordered a gtx 1080, i'll let you know the difference or if CPU ends up being the bottleneck.

Yeah this is great. I was hitting 100+ FPS at all times in areas I was getting like 70. Great performance bump and its an area a lot of early access games should focus on

Game runs great now. I can actually aim at people without fighting horrible frames. The most apparent frame jump is in the starting area where everyone loads in, that normally ran like ass but now it's super smooth.
Still had issues with shots not registering as hits in close quarters but baby steps
