PLAYERUNKNOWNS BATTLEGROUNDS Early Access Thread: This Is Battle Royale

The tweaked RNG completely fucked me over at the beginning of a few rounds with a few double-storey houses that didn't have a single weapon at all, not even a melee weapon. I don't think that's the right way to go, making it about who lands closest to the only house out of four to get the only gun. They've gone super-stingy with the loot and ammo it seems.

I must've missed this in the notes, I didn't know they were doing this.

I'm guessing this is to try and spread out players after the jump?

That or they just don't like the idea of everyone and their mother getting fully kitted out in the first few minutes of the match by jumping into a hot spot. Getting a comfortable loadout should be something that happens across the entirety of the match, not all at once. Hell, ideally the player in this sort of game should probably always be at a want for something (be it ammo, equipment, health, whatever) to encourage them to actually move around the map and take risks to loot buildings or fight other players.

Or maybe its just to encourage more map usage. The circle helps but right now the grand majority of the action happens in the urban areas with huge swaths of empty space around them. It's more economical to try and hit every house when any of them might have a little bit vs. Most of them having jack and a few having guaranteed good stuff.

This was my biggest problem with the game. Gearing up was relatively trivial unless you got incredibly unlucky. I'd rather have most people running around with handguns, shotguns, etc.

Having assault rifles everywhere seems to kill a lot of the weapon diversity.

Eh it doesn't makr the game better really, just more frustrating and random. Now it absolutely defeats my primary method of playing which was to drop into villages and never cities. Now there's no reason to go anywhere but an urban area because you increase your chances at finding loot.

You should be able to at least have a primary other than a shotgun or an uzi after looting ten fucking buildings. Making it more random isn't always better. Everybody at the end with have assault rifles anyway. And if you don't play aggressive you're fucked, so this removes so many ways to play and bottlenecks you to high density areas because it's more efficient.

i played and didn't find a single fucking weapon in any of the 6 buildings i went into and one of them was a stupid apartment thing. walked out and got mowed down by a guy with an uzi. that was crap.

Is this confirmed or just based on people's experience, because I've had no issue finding weapons. Personally I have noticed a pretty dramatic increase in AK and SKS spawns, but that could just be me.

As someone who tends to try to land far away from everyone, the new loot makes sense to me.

I used to be almost fully equipped by looting 2-3 houses most of the time, this makes risk vs reward much more important.

Just got a GMG 25% off code, says "Give three of your mates 25% off with your unique code." so I assume it will only work thrice.

Anecdotal mostly, but a lot of people have echoed that at times it can be unbelievable hard to find anything else than handgun. I have few times looted something like 5 houses without finding other weapons than melee weapons.

It's just anecdotal, but I ran through 3-4 buildings without even finding a melee weapon today, landing as fast as possible in a decently sized village. Someone else then killed me with a UMP.

I had another game where I was stuck with a pistol for ages, eventually dying with it I think?

so many matches my friend and i end up out in the open like dorks, wandering into the edge of the circle with the blue zone behind us, and getting shot at from multiple angles so no tree or rock is safe

but then sometimes we just luck into approaching the circle from a safe angle with no one behind us and are allowed to watch everyone else kill each other and clean up the remnants and win so its like man is it better to be in early or come in late, WHO CAN SAY

I'm at a convention right now and could really use a 25% coupon for a buddy that has yet to experience the greatness that is PUBG

He didn't mean that you needed to quote him to get it, it should show in his post in between EMAIL tags if you quote him.

The Groza is an absolute beast. Just got a 7 kill game using it. Extended mag puts it at 40. Super high rate of fire and accuracy seems ok but all my kills with it were fairly close.

Damn I really have a bad time since yesterday, I just looted 2 three-story building (near the school) and only found a uzi.

I managed to kill a guy with it that went through a door with the door opening like 10 seconds later.

Got into the Top 10 Solo. I swear I must have a neon light around me because even if the enemies have better shots on each other, they will always go for me. It's crazy.

Dying outside the zone when you're 3 feet away sucks. I couldn't bandage myself up in time to negate the life drain. =\

I did get a couple of kills tho, ganked some fools with my UZI

Made it to 14th on my 3Rd match. Killer 4 people along the way. Only reason I died was because I was being shot at by two people who ganged on me because I was next to a crate. Lol. Outshot a guy who had an m416 with a pistol.

If anyone has a 25% GMG code for this, please let me know. I ended up getting it on Steam for full price today, but I'm wanting to play it with my girlfriend as well. Thank you!

Anyway, I just played an hour. It was my very first time. Pretty fun! I got a couple of kills, but I am still making amateur-ish mistakes. On my second match I managed to come in very last place! I've watched a lot of Giant Bomb play it so I know a lot more than I otherwise would, but I just need to get myself into combat situations for a while so I am better at it. I look forward to doing some group play with you all once I get better.

I guess that is one way to say "I camped, a lot" ;)

Yes, I'm salty about those corner campers who just sit in some corner for 20 minutes with UZI or SK12.

Wasn't camping this time. I saw a guy enter a house I just exited, so I went back in and shot him in the back while he was picking up some stuff I left there. Second kill, I entered a house, heard footsteps. I crouch walked upstairs and waited for a few seconds. A guy ran at me but didn't shoot, so I gunned him down.

Are you unable to loot bodies in solo play, or are all bodies not lootable? I killed another player who had lots of gear that I could see, but there wasn't a crate or anything and no way to pick anything up.

Puts back to wall
Clips through wall and right in front of him

You should be able to from the crate just like in any other mode. I've seen some weird situations where the body ends up pretty far away from the crate, so maybe that's what happened.

From my experience the crate usually drops right where they died, as opposed to wherever their body actually rests. Pretty convenient when you shoot somebody sprinting and they roll off a hill or something.

Thanks! It must have been a bug. There was no crate in sight and their body didn't travel anywhere. I could see all the gear floating, though.
