Some real suspect matches tonight. Playing solo I got into a fight with one dude that posted up out in the open. When he engaged me I was also getting hit by a sniper that was conveniently ignoring the easy target. This went on for minutes and and even after I died and the dude looted my corpse, the sniper ignored him. Easy to dismiss, maybe the other guy was obscured by foliage or something, whatever.
The next match someone was revving a car engine on the top of a mountain. I walked towards it and somehow there was a guy sniping right where the sound was coming from. And while he was shooting me, the car continued to rev. I don't know how to explain that one away. Feels like people are somehow grouping up in solo.
Grouping in solo has been happening in games forever. It sucks but there isn't much you can do but report them and move on.
Are you sure someone was in the car? They can stay idle and rev on their own, it's a known bug especially with bikes. The next match someone was revving a car engine on the top of a mountain. This game just refuses to click for me, I'm not improving at all. I've put in 70 hours but I'm terrible and normally I'm really good at shooters, like getting abused for cheating good so this is quite frustrating for me. It's for several reasons, the game runs really poorly for me with almost constant freezing, something I'm just not used to as I always prioritize frame rate and smoothness above all else. Another huge reason is just because of the nature of the game, you don't get to practise the combat mechanics that often, I've started hot dropping just to get more action so the muscle memory starts to form, I really wish there was a practise range of some sort. I also feel like the weapons are really inconsistent, like sometimes people die quickly others it feels like the bullets just aren't registering properly. I've had instances tonight where someone has popped out and killed me before my gun has even finished ADS, lightening quick, so either they're amazing, the game has awful lag compensation (so they're getting extra time on me before I see them) or they got extremely lucky. Either way it's frustrating.
I think I need to take a break for awhile as I'm just getting angry and not having fun anymore. I do enjoy the concept of the game a lot and when it's going well I really like it but there's a lot about it that just pisses me off. I wish I hadn't jumped in for another 6 months or so, but now that I have I'd rather not quit entirely but I think a break is a must.
You can certainly improve gun skills by taking every fight you can. Once you get past the early game and into midgame, randomness is barely a factor. Endgame still has rng, but you can move around a lot midgame and learn tactics. You'll never improve in this game (well you'll get gas awareness and know the spots) cause of the randomness of it all. Look at how the "pro" players did in the tourney lol.
That's how it feels, sometimes I die in a blink of an eye from SMG/AR fire and it never sits right with me, I don't feel like I was out played it just feels like nonsense as most of the time I don't even see them on my screen before I die due to desync apparently, and it makes me want to log off. Technically the game just feels so poor, and I'm having trouble getting past it, any other game I would have dropped for the performance alone so it speaks to how much I actually like the game that I'm still playing it.

My squad got wiped by jackfrags and levelcap earlier today. We were pinned by snipers and they rolled up on two motorbikes. Spent the whole time looting, didn't kill anyone. At least I got three wins yesterday.

Well yeah obviously you can get better with the weapons like any game but rng is at all levels of the game, early, mid and late. You could die to the red zone at any point, get hit by a car at any point (or die from car/moto accident), get stuck at any point, gas could be always pushing further away from you, get hit by a sniper shot, etc...
Yeah you can get to top 20 constantly if you camp in a building/shack but where's the fun in that?
It's a sync issue on match start. It won't go away no matter your settings and how beefy your computer is. I've found once the white appears it'll smooth out.
Definitely happens, had my own cars doing it.Not sure someone was in the car, but I've never seen something rev engine on it's own.
I think it's just a matter of having small buildings with a lot of loot spawns so there's a better chance of that stuff being good. It's also why I rarely go into the apartment buildings anymore. They take a long time to loot and there aren't even that many loot spawns in them so it's not really worth the time.Is there actual proof for the idea that some houses have better loot spawns than others? Aside from the military complexes, I haven't noticed a pattern.
I feel most 'regular buildings' only differ in the amount of loot spots they get. My favorite is the three story building with the double open garage at the bottom and a door to the first floor roof.

Those sets of 2x red houses stuck together in Yasnaya are the shit, my favorite place to loot.
Wow. I can't believe how much easier some things are having just bound a key to crouch jump. Getting around is so much easier. For some reason I couldn't do that shit manually to save my life (literally died after failing to get over walls before).
Vaulting can't come soon enough.
Has anyone compiled a map of all these "magic houses?"
People are AFK farming in order to get crates.

I can confirm that I've killed 2 people standing in the middle of a field randomly with no loot on them. Figured they just went AFK either due to a disconnect or... life. But never figured people would farm like this.

If anything, the only way to actually farm BP is dropping at the end to kill those that crashed/quit/are AFK for other reasons. You can get more BP this way in 5 minutes than leaving the game in AFK for a whole day.
Grouping shouldn't be banned at all. The whole idea behind a battle royale situation like this is people would make alliances to get as far as possible.

It's amazing how much I suck in this game. I've been playing CS for the past decade on PC and it's like none of my aiming skills have transferred over. I'm constantly losing 1v1s. Yet I can switch over to CS:GO and have a 20 kill game.
I don't get it.
I think the engine is just really janky. Not that it's the same, but I have a fairly high ranking in Overwatch and can usually hit my target. I think it really needs improvement. I went through the same thing, but I'm pretty sure its not my skill, it's the engine being trashy. The game and idea of the game is really fun, but the engine is pretty terrible right now.
I switched from FPP to TPP tonight and I'm doing so much better, it's night and day, I can actually outsmart my enemies and kill them 1v1 consistently, whereas in FPP I just die in a blink of an eye. I think it's just down to matchmaking honestly, being put with people who aren't super saiyan so I have a chance. This really makes me want FPP matchmaking more, because it seems to make a huge difference.
Do you play in FPP in TPP?

Yeah, the engine definitely feels janky, and much, much less smooth than Overwatch, CS:GO, or Destiny 2. Even though I constantly run the game at 60+ FPS, it feels far less fluid and consistent. I don't know if that's an excuse, though. I see many former CS players have a great deal of success in this game.
I saw that article but it seemed really poorly written and/or researched. For one thing, anyone who crashes during the lobby or plane ends up like that. Sometimes they might come back, sometimes not. Anyone who goes AFK during the lobby also ends up like that.People are AFK farming in order to get crates.

As a counter anecdote I've had only a handful of crashes over 135 hours of play, and never a PC crash, only a game crash. What OS / graphics card / CPU / how much memory do you have? This is the single jankiest piece of software I've used on my pc in ten years. Has crashed my pc twice in the four days owning it.
I have the opposite problem, lol
Can't go back to CS after 3 months of PUBG. Game-sense is gone, and my aiming is not what it was 3 months ago.
The AK sucks in general. The recoil is not worth the extra bit of damage it does over the 556 rifles. Is it just me or does the AK absolutely suck at long range? Was just in a match and put a 8x scope on it, set it to single fire, and even then, every shot sends the reticle halfway across my screen.
