Playing SC2 again after SC3

BTW SC2 sucks compared to the original as it was more broke and cheesy in a bad way than the original was. Casuals liked sc2 as it wasmore of the same, but more characters and better look graphically than sc, though if you ask the hardcore or competitive community sc is pretty much unanimous in some regards. The bitching SC3 gets on the console is about as the arcade beta had that I saw in chicago when sc2 was in that stage. Give it a few months and if you feel the same way o well, so far I like speed change of the overall game and how it's not as random during vs play with people, not that bs ai which seems to be very hard after a few levels. FTR the 2g glitch after being gi'ed is still around and seems worse from what I heard at sc.com

SC1 > All

Partly due to my love of the DC controller, but overall feel of SC2 and 3, just doesn't touch SC1.

Amazing how nostalgia can warp someones mind into believing in something so false.

SC3 plays more like SC1 than SC2. In the end, most complaints about SC3 are just sour grapes because there isn't a version on the lesser platforms.

I've played Soul Calibur 2 on the Xbox and PS2, and the SC3 demo. The Xbox version of SC2 is indeed cleaner and easier on the eyes, IMO.

I'm digging SC3 a lot. It does feel a lot more like SC1 than SC2 in many regards, especially gameplay.

It's pretty funny that someone mentioned Taki because I talked to some of the people I play Soul Calibur 2 with regularly (on an arcade cabinet! *gasp*) were complaining about how Taki played in SC3 compared to SC2. I love Taki but man, even I thought Possession cancel rushing was broken as hell in SCII. Now Taki's back to playing like she did in SCI, high/low games with plenty of lateral movement and that's totally my speed.

Amazing how one can take a person's "feeling" of a game and if it doesn't agree with their mode of thinking dismiss it so easily. Funny....

It's cleaner in 2 and the characters have definitely not been bumped up but the stages are more elaborate.

There are two kinds of opinions. Mine and the wrong ones.

I disagree, I think Taki's hooters and ass is rounder than ever and that's a plus in my book!!!

SC2 is stale and bland compared to SC3. A good comparison would be Tekken 4 vs Tekken 5. SC2 is Tekken 4. Technically sound but lacking the *oomph*. Everything is just bland.

I am having a hard time adjusting to this game. I always thought I was particularly good at Soul Calibur. Not tournament good, but respectable. Now I am getting thrashed by the computer on a daily basis. The AI does have a knack for knowing what to do the moment you press something as others have mentioned. I think that is the most annoying complaint that I have.

New combos, new timing, etc. I can live with and learn to love, but it is rather annoying the minor changes that were made to this. I am wanting to keep going just to get some more parts for create a character, but lately am somewhat regretting my purchase.

I am also trying to find excuses for my suckage in this one. I think its because I am used to the XBOX controller for SC. Yeah, thats it...

I can regularly thrash the AI with characters I'm actually good at... people I just mess around with often can't manage a win unless I cheese the AI.

In chronicles, I can't win at all in most fights without cheesing. I really dont understand what they were thinking in this game. Why put so much effort on single player modes in a fighter, just to have some lame ass cheap AI ruin it.

Currently, I'm playing with a great sword, dagger, staff and Soul of Seong Mi-Na. I find that I have to use the bombs (dagger) and unblockable giant staff move all the time to cheese down some of the opponents who simply kill me up close. Also, when I try to defeat one of the lvl 60 main characters, I must always leave one character behind as backup in case I die, so the entire level isn't lost. Annoying, but still a bit more interesting than just killing random characters over and over for money and wins.

The graphics are much improved over SCII. In fact, I'd say it's the best looking PS2 game yet, and looks much better than Tekken 5. Some of the backgrounds are just insane.

But SCIII has the owls!
It must be better!

my roommate (who is a huge fighting game fan, its his favorite genre) daily complains about how they "ruined" the game by taking out character moves. And he says SC2 definately looks better (however he played that on my xbox). I did mention to him that people online(here) were saying it looked better than tekken 5 and he was like "GTF outta here".

he seemed real dissapointed with it. Not being a huge fighting game fan, I haven't played it enough to form an opinion.
