It's not really an indication of general trends to be honest, Xbox One has been consistently above ps4 for a week on Amazon, but that's just Amazon, I wouldn't take that on board as nationwide behaviour.

Amazon I checked because its tge only chart indication we have. But as I posted earlier the price is nationwide. Xbox is largely similar to the ps4 price.

cheapest I saw was 330 at gamestop, ps4 no games, 365 with ea game and 370 with infamous.

Xbox with titanfall was 345 and with both titanfall and ghosts 370.

In such a price conscious market and so xbox friendly in the past, price parity or better, wouldn't surprise me if the xbox is clawing back nationwide. Which is why if so sony should react imo.

Yeah I just don't see MS ever releasing hard numbers unless they win a month, then they may release the month's numbers, or overtake a territory like the US, then you will get that territory's number. Otherwise, they likely aren't going to willingly give the public numbers that are millions below the competition.

If they "won" March as anticipated, I'm sure you will see some more detailed numbers. I have thought that them beign ahead in March was s forgone conclusion for everyone, well that was before Bish posted that bunker pic.... I just hope I get enough service on my phoen to follow the NPD thread tonight from my other job.

I wonder if the PS4 will break the 15 mil by the end of the year.

They could do it... with good summer titles and little more excitement with fall titles [not only more 3rd parties, but something more than Driveclub/Order from 1st parties].

As of right now, I am targeting 12-14 mil.

My gut is telling me Microsoft won March handily. That said, I've seen XB1 units in good supply everywhere and PS4s are still in drought mode (saw my first PS4 in the wild a week ago; just one unit).

Is an attach rate of almost 3.0 not good? I figured it was pretty great for a console that just got out there.
Well, it has went up significantly in the last month, so that is good.

I think folks also need to contextualize that 3.0 under the existence of Playstation Plus and some of the FTP offerings the PS4 has. You can be enjoying yourself a lot with this system right now without buying a lot of titles. I still haven't bought any!

I've seen some PS4's sitting along side an equal number of Xbox Ones just north of Toronto at some local Bestbuys.

Usually only a handful of each.

I'm sure Destiny will sell more PS4s than whatever Sony is cooking. The hype for that game is huge, I'm expecting GTA/COD numbers from it.

How about a GTA V bundle like they had for the PS3?

Bundles for the fall season will be interesting to see for both consoles. If we ignore 1st party games, there is a lot of 3rd party titles that are ripe for bundling:

- GTA5
- AC Unity
- Batman
- Nextgen COD [this time with fish AI 2.0]
- Destiny [PS4 bundle for sure]
- NBA 2K15

Sony should drop the price of the PS4 in Canada back to $400, the console has been in stock everywhere I look since they raised it.

I think the sales of Destiny will be seriously underwhelming compared to what Activision is hoping for. I'm really struggling to get excited about the game. It feels like a Halo game without this history/lore that someone expanded into a pseduo-MMO. The videos I've watched just don't get me excited or show me anything "fun" about the gameplay. Am I missing something?

On a side note, I think the release of 7M yesterday was a jab to take the sting off of the loss today. Otherwise they would just wait and release as part of their NPD response. That's the only reason I can think of, its not like they finished counting and immediately published.

Destiny is a tricky game to try to divine its sales [online-only, multiplatform, crossgen, first big game after summer]... But no matter what, it wont hit GTA/COD numbers. I can barely see it surpassing Black Flag numbers [10mil].

Funny how you never really see sports games bundled. I guess it makes sense since so many people buy a console just to play the latest madden or fifa, you're basically upselling them an extra game they wouldn't buy otherwise.

Dark Souls 2 HD bundle would be cool.

Anything less would be a big disappointment for Activison IMO.
Anything less than around 25-33 million can be ridiculous huge successes. It's completely insane to say if you're not the best selling game ever on your debut title in a new franchise you're a disappointment.

Ya know, it is funny though. I work retail PT and I was looking at the sales of each unit over the past 5 weeks the other night. (1 PS4 sku and the XB1 & Titanfall bundle sku combined) Even though we have only gotten 2 shipments of PS4s in those 5 weeks and have had a constent stock of both XB1s sku's, we sold more than 2:1 PS4>XB1. Personally, I was really surprised to see that number seeing as our store mods/displays, as well as, with the way our distributer/buyers orders our games are very much geared to favor MS . I mean, we basically do not get any Sony games to sell outside of the big main titles (Madden/Fifa/CoD/BF4, etc.) We didn't even get a shipment of TR until 2-3 weeks after it was already released, we have not gotten any copies of Knack since we sold out at launch, (only got 1 copy of FF10HD on PS3 a week after launch) even though there has been interest in the title... Yet, we have multiple copies of every MS game released to date we have only sold 4 copies of Plants vs. Zombies on XB1 and 1 copy of Kinect Sports.. That is also surprising... This is only 1 store however, I do not have access to district/regional sales data as some others around do, so call it anecdotle....

Batman and Assassins Creed are this year? Well, damn. Getting ridiculous how fast some franchises put sequels out. Well, as long as people still buy them it's good for them.

Well, thats why some companies use another dev teams to get the latest last gen versions out. Rocksteady for example are working on the new Batman title for 3 years, after they finished Arkham City. Origins was developed by another team.

Arkham Knight was done by original Rocksteady team, so that got 3 year of development time [Origins was made by brand new team, that was their first big game].

As for Assassins Creed, Ubi has rotating teams, each of their games gets 2-3 years of production time.

The great thing about that list is, other than COD, all those games will be advertised as ps4 games.

Don't forget, last year every COD:Ghosts console video was played from PS4 console. :) That will be the norm for almost everyone from now on, PS4 is console of choice for public showcase and for media reviews.

The retailers/distributors favouring MS is very real in the UK too. Hard to tell if it's hold-over attitudes because the 360 was so dominant, higher margins on the Xbone or favourable treatment from MS in general.

To hit 15m they will have to continue to seel 1mil a month right upto holiday season in Late December.

If they are limited to how many they can produce currently won't they be holding some back the latter half of the year for the Holiday sales?

Meaning they may take a hit say from Sep to Nov (say 250K held back each month) but then have a huge blowout over xams to sell 2mil to reach the 15Mil by year end.

If Destiny in September drives a lot of sales could this then impact the amount they have ready for Holiday period, also there will be another COD, BF etc.which could also drive a lot of sales.

If I was a parent intending on getting one for Xmas this year I would probably buy early and hide it away, come December I think the hype train will return and the console will be very hard to come by yet again.

Need Harper to raise the value of the CDN dollar first.

That sucks for Canadians. Sony didn't mess with prices when the US dollar dropped to be only worth 75 yen instead of 100 yen. And that shit lasted for 2 years. During the exact 2 years I lived in Japan being paid in US dollars. :(

Impressive. Most impressive. Sony is really off and running this generation. I look forward to seeing what the 1st and 2nd parties do this gen. Please, please, and please release a jrpg for the PS4 Sony. I've already bought 2 PS4s. I'll buy a 3rd if you do.

Need Harper to raise the value of the CDN dollar first.

Alas, the age old problem of the value of a currency dropping and a company not wanting to take a bath on it. Sony should use some of the money it made from selling buildings and shuttering studios to subsidize the Canadian price.
I'm kidding

I knew that with Batman and that Ubi had different teams for AS and i don't doubt the quality of the games but i had it in my mind that these two were early 2015 titles. AC can get away with it more since every game has a different setting but for Batman it's not going to be easy to bring fresh new things to the fantastic Batman games. That reminds me that i still have to try Origins (finished A-Asylum and A-City)

To be fair I did only mention 'UK' 3 times in my opening post, my mistake :)

I only saw this:

Well as of now the titanfall bundle is 2nd on amazon bestsellers and PS4 is 11th.

The price advantage here has not only been cut but its probably better value now, however they achieved it. Making big losses somewhere but going off amazon keeping hold or clawing back somewhat in this market.

wasn't there a company that did a npd similar thing for the uk?

I didn't jump too far back, or I missed it.

It's money. Microsoft pays for in-store displays I would imagine. Unless they're really trying to get rid of all that XBO stock.

Because Sony do better out of strong yen than weak yen in the US. They had no incentive to raise the US price since it had a marginal effect on their proftiability. It was the other currencies that killed them, and you can see that in pricing even now where European and Asian prices are buffered against a sudden strengthening of the yen in case of an external shock or natural disaster.
