Anyone have those leaks that contained the August 6th date?

HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 mentioned there would be two events in August not just one. So there's still hope for something else since he was right about the August 6th event.

State of Play early Aug going into games. Some sort of video digging deep into UI and other functions of the system not yet announced late Aug then tear down video early Sept.

Might swap those last event but timing would remain the same.

My mistake he said video so it could be a blog post.

There's nothing holding developers from ignoring these features even if DS5 is only supported controller.

If you want something like the adaptive triggers to be implemented in a game, not just for "cosmetics" but for real gameplay let say you have to notice when the trigger is heavier to determine an action, than that will require that developers always expect the user to have the same device.

I asked for clarification birdie thinks we get the announcement within 48 hours the SOP within the week of that, still waiting on one thing to be finished.

His guess right now SOP on the 6th with announcement probably Tues.

Obviously still guesses at this point ;)
So....... What else does your little birdie want to say?
Get that Canary singing! 🤣

Well poop I just want to see the ui and how fast games launch and stuff. From how I read it it's might be anything new just longer focus on third party games from the last show.

Speculating out of my ass here, but I was always skeptical about Sony delivering big stuff about PS5 on a "State of Play" which is what has been rumored since June. We heard about them wanting production quality to be E3 level for that event, I guess they want same amount of finesse for all PS5 stuff, hence a State of Play doesn't necessarily seems like a good fit.

I think they have another event in the works equivalent/similar to June event where they'd show gameplay of 1-2 big First Party stuff, tease 1-2 new games, talk about services, BC, and close the show by dropping the price. This could be delayed until early-September I would say if MS aren't willing to give away the price first.

We can't expect all of games to be like that. At least some of them will not be built around using these features as gameplay mechanics. Especially third-party games, which likely won't use them extensively at all. Why can't them allow to use DS4 for them? That's okay to keep some games unavailable for old controller, but it's exaggeration to thing that new features will be used everywhere,

This is basically CODs State of Play, as the game is cross gen. The pre order date could just be announced via Psblog. Then end the month with a show akin to the PS5 reveal event in terms of production value.

No PlayStation Studios updates for this one, so this is basically the same as MS' first showcase, but at least they have managed expections better than MS.

I agree with you, but I know what can happen if there is no real standard with the control mechanism ...

That's pity that I must throw away my beutiful orange DS4. Controllers have identical button mapping, only difference is in adaptive triggers and haptics. Why can't they just ignore these functions for older controllers...
There are games that rely on the DualSense being able to stop the trigger mid-pull, they said something about guns in R&C working different ways when you pull the trigger. I guess they don't want to break anything? IDK, maybe the PS5 would see that imput as a continuous fire at max firerate. Could be this kind of broken.

For Ratchet they said there's a gun with two barrels (maybe a shotgun?). So basically pulling the trigger half way down will activate the first barrels and going past the resistance will activate the second barrel.

It's essentially to allow the player to decide if he wants to fire just one or both barrels at the same time. The resistive triggers is to let him know when the second barrel will activate. With that I'm pretty sure most people will accidentally fire off both barrels when they only wanted to fire off one of them.

Sony's Q1 fiscal just ended and we should be getting a report in the next couple of weeks I believe.

On a financial call in Feb. they claimed they'd release pricing / availability info on the same schedule as PS4, but that happened in June of that year.. so I do wonder if they'll at least address the lack of pricing info for this quarterly announcement coming up.

They won't announce much till they have almost all of Microsofts bag of tricks exposed.....

They know they're ahead and probably want to leverage all their assets to maximum effect.
This is possibly the most drawn-out, subdued launch of a new console I've ever seen. On both sides.

Going to use this term I have heard here from a couple of people and outside of here.

This is going to be a war of attrition and Sony plans to bleed them out

Yep, this actually reminds me of Destiny. You can slowly pull the trigger on DS4 and see the barrel of the gun spin a little, but when you get mid-pull it fires, while there's some form of sensitivity it is barely manageable. I expect this "lightweightness" (or heavyness) of the trigger to be more noticeable with the DualSense, but I'm sure behind the scenes it won't work like the DS4 does.

When I saw that low-key Sony interview from one of their execs bragging about how many 3rd party exclusives they've "money-hatted" I got the feeling Sony is hoping they can literally take MS out this generation.

Well those *are* the colors of the X-Box controller's buttons, as well as the layout.
Im not disagreeing. But let's not pretend thats the only way they could've made that logo.

Its pretty much a Snes/Famicon rip and the Era part... Come on... They are trying to piggyback of another community.

Is Jim Ryan a sadist???

In a recent interview with the BBC, the President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan, stated that “We’ve got to find a way to do that and give the community little bit of a jolt. Normally, you’d be able to cut the adrenaline and the testosterone with a knife. When you watch the show, I think you’ll see that we’ve been able to do that.”

What do you think?

Looking forward to the financials... they are on fire right now.

They have surpassed their high target from the most optimistic analysts (80 dollars per share)

They haven't updated the market value which would be (currently 80.88 x 1.26) 101.9 Billion.
Plus as I was saying in many previous threads they have well over 30 Billion in cash and cash equivalents.

Time to buy something big?
