PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

If Minecraft is better then that's great. I've never played it, but watched some videos to see what the fuss is all about.

It's just so much bigger in terms of what you can do, obviously due to the 3D space. Terraria is a lot more expansive in terms of items, loot, and game structure, but you just can't beat Minecraft at it's best; big and open.

Thanks for the answers, I'm in Sweden, EU, so this time I might be lucky.
Thinking of maybe buying Sly 3. Have the collection on the US-account on PS3, but my Vita is tied to my EU-account.
Is that supposed to be the best in the series?

Sweet! So Dead Space, Strider and Towerfall are coming to US Plus as well :D; Dead Space 3 will be nice to playthough while the other two will be nice games to stack upon the many other PS4 games I have from PS+ (don't own one yet sadly).

That's for EU though. :P

edit: My bad. Didn't see the US post.

This is my first PS Plus announcement. It's OK, I guess. I already have LEGO Batman 2 on PC, but, hey, a game is a game.

I'll probably grab Terraria from the sale once the store updates (though I have the game on PC, I think it suits the handheld format better). I'll probably get a PSP game too. I wanted to get Tactics Ogre, but, man, it's €20 (FFT is just €10, for reference).

....Just, skip the game man :(. Sure, its STARTS out great but after the third world, the game goes Sonic Adventure all over itself; new playable characters that control like crap every corner, Sly having a pitiful amount of game time during the missions, the levels getting more combat-orented (even in Sly's case, many of his bosses are just boring button mashing segments :(), and the last playable character by far has one of the WORSE gameplay sections I have ever played (...who would have though Sucker Punch could mess up underwater swimming controls THAT badly X().

Its even worse considering the first three worlds are based on the refined gameplay of Sly 2 with the Guru being a fun new addition to the roster (essentially, he jumps on enimes and makes them run like Sonic :D)...then it just goes down hill from there after the third world :(.

If you can, just get the original, Sly 2 or Sly 4 (if you didn't get that through PS+)...they are all much better games then Sly 3 :(.

There is a god.

I wonder if this is an issue with the PC I'm using, but my Vita is not charging on it when I connect it via USB, and the Charge with USB option is ticked on.

Lol on R&C that's absolutely crazy, ShopTo preorder cancelled (for now at least). I'd bet reasonably large subsidies it'll be Cross Buy, I remember finding literature on that Italian website that mentioned digital cross buy but damn if I can find it now

And yeah Pro Mode... the challenges were the GOOD kind of frustrating but I seriously worry for the health of my Vita if I genuinely attempt Pro.

I leaked that and I didn't even notice it, lol

You're right, it clearly says "supports crossbuy with PS3". I'm still holding on until next week.

Lego Batman 2 Vita on PS+ when it was on sale a few weeks ago...

Already got Strider but I'm very happy about Towerfall since I've been wanting to buy it. Might give Dead Space 3 a go now, I guess.

When I use the USB to connect mine, I don't get the charging icon, but it still charges (more slowly though).

Seems like the description for Ratchet and Clank Trilogy has been updated in the EU store:

Cross-Buy:
• Buy this game for PS Vita or PS3™ to get it for both systems.
• After purchasing, head to your “Download List” and you’ll find this product ready to be downloaded.

Odd, just checked the store listing for the R&C Trilogy PS3 version and it specifically mentions cross buy. Can't imagine that's an error. This is on the EU store for my country, so it looks like it's cross buy in the EU at least.

Edit: Beaten!

On the PS4, for physical copies, the entire disc is copied to the hard disk. The disc will spin up in the drive for a security check when you play, but it will eventually spin down. As far as I know, the PS4 has to play from the hard disk and cannot play anything straight from the disc.

As I said, I already knew that. That doesn't answer my actual question.

Reposting my question as it has been a few days now:

Fellow PS4 owners, quick technical question:

I know that PS4 retail games are always installed to storage, but is it installed to a cache that is automatically managed by the OS, or does it appear like a plain app that remains on the main screen that you have to manually delete to reclaim space?

I have yet to buy a retail game at this time (nothing interests me so far) and I was wondering how it's managed. I haven't decided whether I'll do full digital or not. If retail games aren't handled by a transparent cache then I won't bother with retail and just buy everything digital.

Had anyone heard anything since last year regarding Gravity Rush 2? I just hit Shahid and Yosp on twitter not that I expect anything, but just hoping.
Just a tweet from Toyama saying that he's developing a 'sort of sequel' to Gravity Rush, other than that we haven't seen anything since the reveal trailer.

Those PS Now prices are disappointing. The 4 hours fee is a joke but 8$ for a week is okay. My biggest gripe is that I got the retail version of FFXIII-2 for 9.99$ new. So when the game isn't hard to find it doesn't seem to be worth it.

Sorry for the stupid question (it's my first time dealing with the PSN, after all), but is there any reason why Terraria isn't showing the discount at the SEN store, like the rest of the games?

The game stays in the menu even when the disc is out and it still takes up the hard drive space because it was installed. If you want to free up space you can delete it and the game disappears from the menu until you put the disc in again which begins the install process anew.

The fact that PS Now purchases are entirely separate from existing PSN purchases is absolutely fucking ludicrous.

If you already bought a PS1/PS2/PS3 game on PSN, you should have permanent access to it on PS Now. It's only logical.

Ah, ok, that does answer it now. Many thanks.

In any case, that's pretty dumb, they should have made some kind of automatically managed caching system. But I guess that would have made too much sense.

Or at least pay an upgrade fee, or have to retain your Plus subscription. I don't know, it's just absolutely disappointing to be renting things in 2014.

So why can't I buy Magical Beat in Canada. Arc System is too poor to buy the license for another country? Grace Chen goofed?

I think Arc System Works US is just staffed by incompetent people. They also fucked up the XBLA release of the last Guilty Gear in the same way (US only, no Canada and Mexico). I think they eventually fixed it though? Hopefully they will also fix this one.

:S It's annoying since it should be available and I want to buy it. Ugh.

I was told by someone I trust it's "being looked into". So it seems it was either a mistake they're looking to fix, or they're trying to get it to Canada as well - but to no avail (yet).

Well, there could be some problems there due to the use of servers and stuff. But they could have some kind of "subscription service" that let you play your whole PlayStation catalogue of games that you already own on top of 2 new games each months, for example.

holy shit @ $4.99 for 4 hours

Yeah, the whole thing is. I mean, 4h/7/30/90 days? What?

It should have been something like 2/7/15/30/90 days with 2/5/8/12/20€. Or something similar.

I mean, when videoclubs existed I could rent a game for 1€ a day. Higher prices are total bullshit.

And they should let people try the game for a hour or so for free.

People should just keep their PS3 plugged...
