PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

no don't get me wrong, Dead Nation is far from a bad game. But it's not good either. It's simply just another average twin stick shooter. I enjoyed it enough to beat it, but I don't think it's good enough to download even for free and with a 1080p upgrade.

just sayin... there's a lot of better games we could be asking for from Sony then a Dead Nation Vita port, and honestly it would be kinda crappy on such a small screen. The game can get hectic at times.

This isn't a situation where people are begging for a port. Dead Nation Vita is a situation where people are begging for Sony to deliver on something they already announced.

So I'm gonna sell Killzone Shadowfall and pickup either Assassins Creed 4 or Battlefield 4...

What does GAF say I should do?

People aren't begging for anything. Laughing Banana asked a question, and instead of answering a bunch of cynical people have entered the same discussion cycle yet again. Oh my god, SCEA sucks! I must let people know!

So, Laughing Banana: no, Dead Nation for Vita has not been canceled, and this is what the developer just said about it: "Stay on the lookout for more Dead Nation news soon, including hints and tips and an update on the PS Vita version."

So I'm gonna sell Killzone Shadowfall and pickup either Assassins Creed 4 or Battlefield 4...

Assassin's Creed IV is a fun game but it's more of the same. Battlefield 4 is a broken mess on PS4, only get it if it's a disc that you can resell for the same value once you get the urge to snap it in half.

What if I haven't played an Assassins Creed since the first game (and even then didn't finish it).

What's the average minimum distance one has to go on one of these "go as far as you can" daily challenges to qualify for a diamond trophy usually?

Then I think you'll enjoy it. It's more of the same damn mission structures from 2 and up, but the pirate package really mixes things up and I feel that great. If you haven't even played 2, I say go for it.

I never beat Malicious, but I never encountered anything that was horrendous. It did slow down, oh yes, but other games I've played has slowdown as well and I still enjoy them. It all depends on your feelings towards it, and if you can "deal with it", even though it's a terrible thing to deal with. Heck Toukiden has slowed to a crawl on a few occasions lately...

But perhaps check out some gameplay videos to see if they could replicate any of these slowdown problems, see if you can live with it.

Edit: I cleared all but one of the main stages before I died, and had to restart. Not sure if there is an uber boss stage that opens up after the normies are cleared or not, so I may not have the best, fullest experience of it.

Did you finish all the new bosses on the Rebirth Chapter?
Malicious doesnt run as bad as Jak n Daxter or for example Metal Gear Solid 3D. And both still enjoyable(less in the case of MGS3D)Malicious lowest frames are around 20fps(never reached 15 im pretty sure of that) and is always unstable between 25 to 20.
The character floats and is suppose to do so , you can play in the hub wich runs like at 30fps and you can see that. the game is not suppose to have a character that jumps fast like strider for example. The floaty thing is on purpose so you can jump higher or jump forward or do air combos etc.
Malicious is an excellent and original game , diferent from any action game . The Vita version has some more issues with framedrops but the gameplay is there and is fun and challenging.
I would recommend malicious to anyone that likes challenging action games with beautiful graphics. The new bosses are great and the story is extended in this version(even when you read it like a book with drawings)
Malicious is one underrated game that deserves attention and for the price it is right now, it is worthier than games like stealth inc or similar things that are overpriced games and overrated.

Malicious is a wonderful and beautiful game . you can see this video and see the frame drops , but take into account in the Vita you dont notice all that you can notice in this video.

This game is terrible. I never could beat it either. The controls are just bad, so much repetitive gameplay and mashing.

the game is not about mashing only has some strategy , obviously you didnt use it thats why you didnt finish it. Its like a mix between megaman and something else. The game is an indie game made by Alvion and is visually better than any of those 2d indie craps that are like 15 dollars.
Malicious is not everyones cup of tea , as gravity Rush is not everyones cup of tea too, with its controls and all.
If you manage to reach Rebirth chapter you can actually see the ral potential of the game. This game is obviously adressed to people like me old veterans that like japanese arcade games.
The controls are much better in Vita version , camera has been improved too.
I like to think this is like Tenchu controls , they are hard to learn but once you learn to do everything you understand why they selected these controls.

Bah at people putting Tomb Raider over Golden Abyss on the last page.

It is quite funny how Tomb Raider is more of a wannabe AAA experience than an handheld title.
So many aspects of the game are just amateurish and laughable.

The writing is atrocious and opened my eyes to the fact that Rhianna Pratchett just inherited the name of her father. Some of the dialogs are so cringe worthy it is unbelievable
, like friendzoned guy dying on the ship
. And all of the characters suck.
Her friends are all so stereotypical and feel like they only exist to fill out some niche,
like the tough black chick and the samoan big but nice guy. The telegraphed betrayal of the professor didn't help either.
The worst is Lara herself. Much was said about the poor and jumpy character development but what annoys me the most is the bad voice acting of Camilla Luddington. In fact, all the voice actors perform really bad so I guess the voice director wasn't up to the job.
The same goes for the camera work and cinematics. It all seemed so in your face and nothing was framed good, the blending of cutscenes and gameplay was very weak and immersion breaking. When
Lara climbed up the tower and the camera perspective changed like ten times
I felt like in a cheap 3D movie. I was shocked when I saw that Cory Barlog was in charge of the cinematics. He lost all the credit I had in him from directing GoW2.

The actual gameplay was done well. The cover system worked surprisingly well and the gunplay felt good. The levelling system was interesting and the traversal was also nice. Looking at the level design you could also see the production values.
Unfortunately, only one setpiece was done well.
The part where Lara was in the woods at night and had to take out several baddies stealthy
was very atmospheric but unfortunately very short.

But overall, the game felt like amateur hour, a feeling I didn't get as much from Golden Abyss. My biggest complain about Golden Abyss would be the bad pacing at start. I don't have a problem with the gimmicks, but they decided to place most of them right in the first chapters where they can get annoying fast because they stop the flow of the game. Ok, the boss fight also sucked like in every Uncharted game.

I can say Uncharted is what it is becouse of the old Tomb Raider games, but you can also say the new Tomb Raider is what it is becouse of Uncharted.
Golden Abyss is an excellent title with some annoying parts but thats all. still one of the most impressive experiences on the handheld especially on the Oled _Vita(those sunset colors ) and it was and excellent lunch title. I can only hope there is a Golden Abyss 2. And i have to say , i didnt like Uncharted until GA got me interested in the saga.

Tomb Raider's story was actually fairly interesting for me. The story in Uncharted Golden Abyss was the only thing that compelled me to stick with it, but I remember literally nothing about the story about 8 months after I finished it. Honestly, UGA might be one of my least favorite games on the Vita.

The setting of Tomb Raider was nice. Some abandoned and fortgotten japanese island with a secret. That's actually all I liked about the story.

I agree that the historical background of Golden Abyss was handled rather badly and in no way comparable to what Amy Hennig does at ND. The story itself was fine typical popcorn movie stuff though.

More like solution: Stop playing Fifa.

Got Fifa hacked from trying that demo of the "Fifa Street" PS3 version online.

Never again.

@JVM: Paying $5 more for Dead Nation... *shakes head* I see no mention if it being cross-buy which is supremely disappointing.

Huh. How is that even possible??

GODDAMIT DEVELOPERS !! STOP DOING THIS !!
I need to know this shit like 2 months ahead of time. I don't have infinite gaming funds.

Yeah, well, the era of cross-buy is probably going away. Once the PSV is well and truly dead, it makes no sense anymore. (I mean, it does, but Sony doesn't think it makes enough sense, if I'm right.)

Now that I've opened up B route in Dragon's Crown, I'm enjoying it quite a bit more. A route was too easy and filled with too much talking. But I'm over that hump and the lure of chaining adventures for bonuses is grabbing me.

Yeah it's trash. I let my brother play it on my PS3 when he was over visiting and I watched him play after coming back an hour later. I was like "wow, this game looks like shit."

He goes "Yeah, this game fucking sucks. You know what, I'm done with it, fuck this game!" and he turned it off. It really did look like complete ass. The frame-rate was horrible too.

he was playing atari probably , the game looks gorgeous. Frame drop is a problem and the difficulty of the game is hard but very rewarding, once you have defeated a boss you really have to choose the correct boss to fight using that power(like in megaman) and you have more chances to win. Plus Ps Vita version comes with 5 more bosses so...Not trash at all.
I dont know what game you have played guys but it is a game that looks great after you pass the frame drop issues that are not THAT bad as you say.

I'd have taken a rock solid 30fps over 5 additional bosses any day. The only reason I wasted $15 on it was because people told me the frame rate was improved. I got in the first stage and thought "this is as bad, if not worse than PS3... fuck."

The lower framerate makes parts of the game much easier though... not sure if that's a plus though. :P

I like the art style and think it's a good looking title, for the most part. I just don't like the feeling like I'm fighting in a swamp of molasses.

What does GAF say I should do?

assassins creed is a monstrous game if you are a completionist- the multiplayer in it is rather fun but nothing you would want to invest a greatdeal of time into-

however BF4 is a fantastic multiplayer experience, but YMMV: people have been saying server issues and lag outs are as common as they were first week of launch- for me I had a handful of 'crash to psn menus' and the conquest bug (as in you could not play conquest) only on the first week. It easily was my favorite launch title and is the best multiplayer shooter on the system. Premium has already dropped 8 new maps and a few new vehicles and game modes-

I like Malicious. "Pray", the opening theme, is on my shuffled list of wake up alarms.

yeah its a calm and beautiful tune.

So Anniversary Vita Sales and Ubisoft Vita sales are awesome. I dont know what to buy!(Im checking NA store)

Im hesitating if to buy Brothers in arms d day for only 2:49 dollars

there is also the prince of persia games for 2.49(Revelations and Rival Swords)

Rayman Origins , Lumines electronic Symphony, Asphalt and some more games only for 6.49! This is the moment! BUY

That really sucks Masterballs, so did they guess your account password or something?

No idea. I have to say Sony's customer support fucking sucks though. Been on the phone about 6 times for 15 minutes waiting to be put through. Emailing only gets me a generic "We have a lot of traffic because of the PS4" response. The money hasn't come out of my account yet, so it could be they've caught it themselves and not told me, but man it's hard to find out!

Holy crap. My favourite local shop is getting a Japanese copy of Project Diva F 2nd instead of Asian. Hopefully, I can get in the reservation list by tomorrow evening.

I decided to give the PS3 demo of Diva f a shot and I'm not sure I'm sold on it. For the most part it's cool but I don't like having to use the analogue sticks. Will the Vita version be identical to the PS3 one?

Also I love Danganronpa. I guess the avatar change might have given it away. Looking forward to beating it and readingthrough that monster spoiler thread here.

Let me guess. Your favorite game shop also has opened preorders for J Star Victory Vs.?

I don't remember using my analog stick while playing Project Diva f. What I remember for star notes was swiping either the front or back touchpad.

The Vita version uses the touchscreen for the star notes, which works much better than the analog sticks in the inferior PS3 version.

Hm, that might be a little better. If they made it a tap on the touchpad or L/R buttons that would be ideal. Ah well we will see, March is super busy so I will probably hold out on it until I beat a few things.
