Why do people keep mentioning Cory Barlog's new project? I'm pretty sure that game didn't go into full production until after Ragnarok finished. It's much more likely Naughty Dog shows off their next single player game, which has been in assumedly in full production since TLOU2 wrapped in Spring 2020.

True, ND should be ahead on their next game, but apparently that is Factions. Sony restructured their first party devs to have two teams, so one finished Ragnarok at SSM and the other is on the new game since at least a couple years?

7 months with no first party releases and they will show trailers for games that people cant get until 2024 at the earliest and the HYPE will continue. Same thing every generation with Sony.. LOL "How do they keep getting away with it" meme

No, Bluepoint said that they are done of making remasters and remakes and that at Sony were going to work in original games only.

Their first original game has been God of War Ragnarok, they codeveloped it as one of its support teams. They are relatively small and apparently the whole studio was working on it after the Demon's Souls remake. That would mean that they only have been working on other game for around half a year, so way too early to show it this year.

They didn't have a game design team: they had a single game designer until after GoWR hired a level designer. Not enough designers to make their own game, so their next game is going to be in a support role again.

You’re telling me after Shadow of the Colossus, and a big time remake in Demon Souls, they said “we’re done with remakes, we are a support studio now”?

That’s a really weird trajectory.

I agree it's a bit early but I don't think it's too far off an announcement if they want to go with an early teaser trailer. They've been teasing the new IP for a few years now

That and the recent post from Hermen makes me think there's a shot something is shown

I really thought Sony would not do a showcase, but I'm glad I was wrong. I hope to see at least 7~9 first/second-party games, my guesses are:

Spider-Man 2
Wolverine
Death Stranding
MGS Remake
TLOU Factions
Rise of Ronin
Stellar Blade
Firesprite Horror Game
Santa Monica new IP

Most of the Bluepoint staff did work in top tier original games before joining Bluepoint at places like Retro Studios or Blizzard.

When bought by Sony their boss said in an IGN interview that they left behind remasters and remakes and were moving to original games, because it was their next natural step.

The first original game has been GoWR in a support role. Their second game will be also in support role because only had a single game designer and now after GoWR only hired a single level designer. Without a meaty game design team they won't lead their own game, so will work as a support team again.

I assume that their plan is to work first as support team in a handful games while they grow and learn about these IPs, and later build a proper design team and lead their own original games, maybe some of them from the IPs they supported or remade.

Sounds dumb to me. They could be waiting around ten years before they ship their own game. They were top billing In Demon Souls so it sounds really stupid to leave that behind for a support role.

They should be going from remasters and remakes to reimagining.

No, what it was in full production since TLOU2 shipped was the TLOU MP game and TLOUP1 plus overviewing the Uncharted ports. After TLOU2 Druckmann wrote a first TLOU3 main story draft but they still haven't decided back then if they were going to develop it somewhere in the future or not.

Pretty likely are working on a new IP, which I assume will be in preproduction or early stages of development so won't show it now because in recent times with the Wolverine exception Sony now prefers to wait until their games are almost done.

Pretty likely with their portion of GoWR they'll have made more money than with Demon's Souls. Devs also get tired of doing the same again and again, and prefer to evolve and move to more ambitious stuff. So they decided to move from remakes to work in new games.

The only thing going to make this show worthy is a full blown next gen PS5 exclusive from Naughty Dog.

I want my Uncharted 4 E3 reveal on PS4 moment.

I'm right there with ya.

As much as I hate typing this but seem's like ND have moved on from Uncharted, the rumour is they're working on a fantasy IP which is exciting because my imagination is going wild thinking about what they can pull off.

I don't think TLOU3 will be announced, nor do I think it's a primary focus of Naughty Dog as we speak unless they want to go creatively bankrupt.

Last Showcase was almost 2 years ago and 20 minutes shorter, HYPE IS REAL
With vr, indies, third party games available everywhere. Spiderman 2 everyone knows how it plays. 60 min is a joke.

Probably we gonna see 4-5 fp games there.

I am not wrong though. GoW released in November. It is May and there hasnt been a first party Sony game since November. There probably wont be anything other than FF16 until September or October. That is almost a year between releases. I am not an Xbox fan. Ive never owned an Xbox. I am just pointing out an observation of Sony console warriors.
But you literally are wrong. They launched a brand new platform just a couple months ago and after GoW:R.

Regardless I don't see why it matters. No publisher, platform, etc have a perfect schedule of game releases each and ever year. Some years are gonna be better than others. I think most people (at least myself) trust Sony, as they don't tend to have super long droughts.
