how about we just redo copyright law and consumer rights entirely with a 21st century internet perspective so digital ownership can actually exist (outside of piracy and NoDRM)
What are you doing in this 4 month old thread? EU and US laws don't protect you with these movies. You buy a movie on these digital storefronts be it Amazon video, iTunes, Windows/xbox, PS store they can pull the movies if the license owner (the company who created the movie) decides to pull it from the service:
This is what happens when you have a closed system. You can't do shit. But imagine this happening to pc ? A big fat lol and 3 mins later a copy of that game will be on the ssd one way or another. If I bought something it's fucking mine. I didn't buy a subscription for the game I bought a copy of the game and it will be mine to modify and do whatever I want with this
Sony and MS think otherwise . But at least MS knows they can't fuck with pc . Not after years of trying to fix their bad image and starting to get there. Sony on the other hand is so anti consumer they think you owe them big time for allowing u to buy and play on their system like they are doing you a favor. God forbid you ask for a refund for a game . They might ban you lol ( kidding of course on the last part but refunding is kinda a mission impossible at Sony )
That's kind of stealing isn't it,lol.......but I'm sure Sony's terms and conditions have them covered. The all digital future......YEA!!!!!!......anyway,nobody is taking my copy of This is Spinal Tap away from me,I have it on Blu-ray.
It might still be the case a court will throw out this case, but that doesn't change anything I bow T&Cs are viewed in court, which was the point I was making.
The case against Amazon was dismissed already in Oct 2021. I hope the people's appeal and transfer to another jurisdiction in that case works but clearly the lawyers who write them for all the companies know what they are doing. If they win against them it will be a landmark case.
That has happened a lot of times before, if you bought something digital and the storefront removes it you will not be able to access it anymore (in some cases the downloaded version still work, but there is no guarantee that will be possible).
