Death Stranding 2 has already fallen under Forza Horizon 5 on the PlayStation Store (US, UK, France, and Germany).

DS has a Metacritic user score of 7.4/10 and a 4.6/5 star rating on PSN, with 77k reviews.

'Everyone disliked' is extreme hyperbole.

Couldn't give a shit about you poorly trying to correlate those numbers to general sentiment.

You're delusional to think that there wasn't massive revisionist history on DS1 only recently and there's still a lot of people who don't give the game any thought not only in the PS ecosystem but in the broader community especially.

Then now, we want to compare (digital only) sales of the sequel of THAT, to a big moment in Microsoft Publishing and title in an under provided genre. Just a brain dead comparison.

Some people seem upset by this news, that's okay but I'm sure Forza will be out of the chart next month.. next month for sure right guys?
Who would be upset?

PlayStation owners who now get all the exclusives Xbox fans have been bragging about not being on PlayStation for years given to them as extra games?

I've heard PS fans on here for years saying things like, "Forza Horizon and Ori are the only games on Xbox I wish were on PS".

Very random comparison, but great going by Forza H, it is a solid open world racer for the masses. I still haven't picked up the PS version yet, but will do when the price drops a bit more.

People that overestimate the popularity of PS exclusives.

I want to try it but it is very hard to get the hype of to purchase when there are so many other games that I already know I will enjoy that appeal to me.

If the price was lower I'd give it a shot but for now I'm gonna have to wait on a sale. I play a lot of games for just a few minutes/hours before I decide I don't like them. It could be that way with this game. I've been burned before. I don't like taking chances with high dollar games unless I'm sure I will enjoy them.

FH5 isn't being discounted. It's $60 on PlayStation store. Those lists are sorted on revenue anyway, so the price actually swings the 'units' comparison even further.
It has a 25% discount right now. What are you on about? Nobody mentioned freedom bucks that apply to another country not even mentioned in the thread or OP.

RG reliably showing his Xbox derangement syndrome once again.

I'd point out that there's more people playing MS games on PS5 than Sony excluuuusives, but that's not saying much is it? :goog_beaming_face:
There is a difference between third party exclusives on PS vs Sony first party exclusives on PS. Third party exclusives in general have lower sales potential.

Sequel to a divisive, niche game (that was fantastic imo) vs one of the greatest racing series seeing it's debut on a system being the best of it's peers. While some are going to oddly console war with that, I'll just happily sit back happily knowing both are available.

No issue with that.

My preferred platform that I'm invested in is doing really well

If third parties pick up the slack while Sony take their time with exclusives then so be it

You can't fool people who were on the edge for the first one aswell anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's also down compared to the first game in JP and UK (Physical only at least)?

Will be interesting to see if it surpasses the original or not.

Death Stranding 2 versus........racing game

The Office I Give Up GIF

Honest question: hast there been a single TV advertisement for Death Stranding 2 in America? I can usually catch a game commercial randomly when popping through on Cartoon Network (usually Adult Swim or Toonami), but I've come across nothing for Death Stranding 2.

OTOH, when Metaphor was coming out I came across multiple adverts randomly (usually at night) on the same network. And that was just a few months ago. Usually for a big name release like DS2 I'd of seen at least a couple television adverts but it feels like SIE have afforded zero dollars to the traditional marketing budget of this game, at least in the U.S.

Am I wrong?

If there was a day one PC version, it would've sold more but whatever.

I'd bet a good chunk of would-be players are waiting for the PC version this time around, considering the first game came over in only six months. People didn't suddenly forget that (most people, anyway).

Between that and them maybe not having FOMO to dig in necessarily Day 1, it could be an easy wait for them.

Still, combined sales would be a better comparison.

Anyway, I guess the success of FH5 means every MS game will be coming to PS5 day 1 from now on.

Yep, but this is also my thinking process with HD2 performance on Xbox. Not that it'd be "every game" in SIE's case, but definitely their bigger ones from the Western 1P studios, and I feel it wouldn't be limited to GAAS titles either.

SIE under older management, I would confidently say wouldn't entertain that idea. But I can't say that about current SIE management today.

Don't tell them these truths. They need to believe everything related to Playstation is a failure, in order to allow to sleep better at night.
Go easy on them. They're looking for those MS wins and Sony loses in the strangest of places.

It would be like mentioning that AC Shadows is currently higher in the chart than Expedition 33 to start some shit.

Yeah, that'd be me. I bought DS1, tried playing it on 4 different occasions over the last 5+ years, and could never get past the first few hours.

Not going to even humor buying DS2, especially since it looks even more silly and goofy than the first one.

Also they need somehow to feel good that their exclusives are now on the competing console.

Which is just straight up odd to me. Because I'm about 100% sure they didn't feel good about hearing that their favorite Xbox exclusives were going to the PS5. Now they are trying to gloat that those ex-exclusives are selling well to make PS5 owners feel bad........

Like okay, PS5 owners are buying ex-Xbox exclusives by the millions, how is that a bad thing for PS5 owners? It's all so weird.

I'm surprised DS2 is selling at all considering how strange the first one was. Hats off to Kojima making so many people play it.

Has it even broken 1M yet?

I'm surprised that Kojima himself and within all the marketing, they didn't say you could play this game and skip DS1 (I know people hate this notion but it is true).

DS1 is more about establishing the world which you can just read about in the game. It's not like everyone remembered the worlds' glossary.
Then you have DS2 which has quicker pacing and onboarding, and the plot is more character based and straightforward.

its position is probably a bit skewed by it being digital only, though.

FH5 is a digital only release. Why would you expect to see it on Amazon?

That would be me aswell but i bought the game anyway :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Deep down even if i think that kojima has been a fart smelling hack since mgs3, i still want to assist to his fuckery somehow🥲

It's simple. They're here for the corporate wins. Nothing else. Tells you everything about them and their agenda.

When they putting Starfield on there?

The fanboy club is convinced that it will do poorly amongst the PlayStation install base but I'm not convinced

I know it's unpopular but I find him to be the most overrated game designer in the industry. I've read several times on these boards, people saying things like "yeah I'd probably think this shit was dumb if it had a different name attached, but Kojima is a genius!"

... I don't get it. Oh well.

Well no shit, Microsoft purchased two of the biggest publishers in the industry, then claimed those publishers' games as their own.

And they even did the same with Minecraft back over 10 years ago.

So no shit there are more people playing "Microsoft" games on PS5. Convenient to leave that part out.

Starfield was a thoroughly mediocre game at release while FH5 was a legit great open-world arcade racer at release.

And by the time Starfield releases, Saros will probably be out to scratch the sci-fi itch.

Though knowing some of the questionable jestering SIE's been doing for Xbox recently, and some of the so-called PS fans (like a lot of the ones who spend time console warring in Twitter/X spaces) more likely to buy an Xbox port than a PS exclusive despite trashing Xbox all the time...I wouldn't be surprised if Starfield sold super well on PS5, either.

last good game (but terrible mgs) was mgs5, but after playing ds2 that try his worst to get that mgs5 feeling and fail spectacularly, i'm not even sure if the gameplay of mgs5 was made by him or most probably the konami team he left behind, and he only wrote the dogshit plot :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

But let's stop here, i can already sense the kojimboys out for blood:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

4 years old Forza Horizon outselling tons of new games despite still being $45 even when on sale.

Meanwhile EA: "You know what we should do with Need for Speed?...kill it"
I am not well informed as I have not bought a NFS for ages but hasn't it become an online only Burnout hybrid? Online only is a huge deal breaker for me. If it wasn't I would likely be playing The Crew: Motorfest and the like.

It will never cease to be hilarious that MGS3 was the second worst selling of the six canon Solid titles. And that's only because the worst selling spot was taken by Peace Walker.

I could not have been less interested in a game. I own DS1 on PS5 and PC (thought it would click with me if I kept at it).

For people that love the game, you can thank me. If I loved it, you wouldn't have seen DS2 until 2028 the earliest.

He can crank out the walking simulator every other year with no delays, but Metal Gear? That is another story.
