I had no desire to get a vita one week ago. Started reading this thread tuesday, and ive now preordered a wifi. Cant decide what game(s) i want. Ill most likely go to target tomorrowand try and grab uncharted, wipeout and a third. But if i cant i may wait til the show to buy a vita game. I have so many ps1 rpgs and psp games to finish from psn since my 2000psp died

Thanks a lot gaf :p

They said on the PS blog that the currently do not have plans to give discounts to PS+ users but that they are looking into it and implementing it in the future.

You earn points by watching videos on their site. Videos are usually 6 minutes long and can give you points ranging from 60-300. With those points, you can discount the original MSRP on products the site sells, which ranges from video games to clothing. I managed to buy the 3G launch bundle for $240, when I ranked 1600 points or so. The percentage is dropping by the day though, a week and a half ago it was at 20% off, yesterday it was at 15%.

I see so the points you earn can discount, otherwise you'd just be paying the normal prices?

The solution is probably going to be developers writing streaming engines. The PS Vita has a lot of RAM. Carts have been "instant" in the past because we're talking about filling 4k or 4MB of RAM. Filling 350+MB of RAM (and more, you know eventually Sony will unlock the rest reserved for the OS) takes time, no matter how fast the data transfer speed is.

It's not just that, the carts were actually circuit boards with the game printed on a ROM. 'Carts' now, and I use the term very loosely, are just ROM flashdrives with the files on it.

Near never works for me... Always saids "could not obtain data for your location". Does anyone else have this problem? Been lurking this site since japanese launch, finally got my vita an is amazing but need some friends :/ currently have ragnarok odyssey. If anyone wants to add me my id is Latinolegend

Yeah, same for me, really bumming me out. I'll add you though!

It's killing me that I can't throw back grenades in Uncharted. And that the electronic manual tells pretty much nothing about the gameplay.

Any impressions or reviews of Shinobido 2 yet? I've read the GamesRadar review already but I'd like to read more.

I too would like some more impressions from gaf, specifically.

edit: I googled 'shinobido 2 review' and the first one that came up seemed pretty detailed. Can't link it here though.

Had my Vita for a couple of months now and until a really killer game comes out its gathering dust. Uncharted was a big let down jaggies everywhere not really impressed with the graphics or the OLED at all. If you have seen a modern mobile phone you have seen this screen, granted its a little bigger on the vita but it's nothing new. Couldn't get near to work at all and welcome park sucks. Will try Virtua Tennis since its getting some love and FIFA but this thing really needs a killer game to lift it up like Mario Kart and Mario Land 3D did for the 3DS.

It took the 3DS months after launch to get those games.

Gametrailers has a quick review on it that actually doesn't make me regret buying it. The summary was that the Stealth bits and the controls in the game are great but a few of the fights grate a bit and missions lack variety. Second playable character that pops up through the game is just a reskinned main char with same moves list.

Few other sites have been quite harsh with scores as low as 4/10 but Metacritic and Gamerankings have the average hovering around 60% and 70% respectively.

Looks great man. Does it have a Europe release date? Not seen one :(

:( if it doesnt have one. Looks like a great little platformer that would make a fine addition to my PSN/SEN launch line up of littler games to purchase.

Got a 32gb card. DD 4 life. Also are the 3g versions better at certain things? Like Near functionality is better right? Also they have better bundles than the wifi one I've noticed. I switched to a 3g one on Amazon.

Well, I finished downloading Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow just a few minutes ago and starting playing... now that I can map the control to the right analog stick, the game control is like night and day. Granted, the game already controlled decently with the face buttons (or if you are like me, the left stick for the camera and face buttons for movement) but this is absolutely awesome. Game is so unbelievably comfortable now and just feels right.

I think I will go buy a few PSP games I missed because of the control issue... no excuse now. Time to get a 32GB card!

Good job, Sony. Good job. Vita never ceases to amaze me...

The X and O confirm/cancel difference so many Vita/PSP games pushed me to get a FEB and sell off my import Vita. It has been a bigger pain in the ass than I anticipated, especially going back between the PS3 and the Vita.

The units are largely the same, but I did notice that my US Vita seems to be a little heavier. Not sure if it's the 3G antenna or whatever, but I noticed it immediately. I like the change, makes the unit feel a bit more solid. I also noticed a pretty big difference in the settings. In my import Vita, there wasn't "Auto-Start" settings like there is on the US Vita. Appears this controls apps that start when the Vita starts, which is pretty cool.

Anyways, I picked up 280 selling my JP Vita and 8GB card, and I had some store credit to secure the balance.

Also, the grips with triggers is a great buy. Playing FIFA and Uncharted with them is a better experience. Playing touch screen only games like Escape Plan feel better without the grips though. Luckily they pop on and off easily.

startign to piss me off too - especially on PSP. I manage fine on my import PS3, but PSP sometimes varies X/O even within a game. Ape Escape is very annoying with this.

Does tactics ogree work on eu psvita? Is even downloadable in eu?

Could make me buy one...

Since it's confirmed to be working for US vitas, I don't see why it shouldn't in the EU one. Have there been cases of a specific PSP game working in a region specific vita and not in another? Haven't heard of this situation.

ArsTechnica had some short impression which was not very positive.

Where Shinobido works best is in the situations where you're asked to sneak around and take out enemies silently from behind. Everything falls apart when you're asked to face your opponents in armed sword combat, though, with a camera that refuses to cooperate, and overly elaborate character animation that makes it nearly impossible to change direction quickly. Add in repetitive environments, wonky artificial intelligence, and frustrating package escort missions, and you have a game that will appeal to only the most hardcore fans of alternate Japanese history.

Noticed on the Q? twitter account that they acknowledged the game is built to handle DLC, and they're also apparently pretty touchy about people mentioning the price of their game.

I have a PS3. What's this Media Go and how can I get Lumines and Lumines 2 and Kingdom Hearts on a Vita?

You cannot get them, they are not on PS Store. Media Go is a software for Windows, allows you to buy some content, and transfer it to PSP. Doesn't work for Vita content.

yeah but at least we knew they were coming.

What major titles does Vita have on the horizon?

FF Type-0 or I burn down S-E HQ.

You have the Vita Content manager installed? There should be a link in the OP. If you're wondering, it's more closed due to the potential piracy effects. Custom USB charger and custom app for the Vita.

yeah, got the content manager installed on my computer, had it pointing at the right folder.......even went into Media Go to make sure i had the right folder.......

I need to stop checking this thread. Getting me wayyy too excited, lol.

Made a list of things I will be purchasing so I know more or less how much I will be spending once my tax return comes in. I see DJ Max Portable 3 works on the Vita (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Will be 1 of the first PSP games I buy.

Really excited to try Super Stardust Delta. If Pac Man Championship Edition DX ever came out for Vita (or something similar), I would be in heaven. I live for games like these.
