Wife surprised me with a Vita for Valentine's day. Didn't even ask for one.

So, how's the future look for this thing? I would hate to get invested in a platform with unhealthy support from 3rd parties due to sales.

Well uhh considering it just came out today, I don't think anyone would be able to say.

I think, if nothing else, at worst you can expect a lot of 360/PS3 ports

Hope someone notices this question because this thread is moving so fast, but, how long does the Vita have to be charged right out of the box before playing with it?

I can't pick mine up until after work and then by the time I get it home it'll be relatively late. Can it be played with without charging first?

I had a go of one today. It's a very nice bit of kit with a stunning screen. Impressive.

It's looking like it might be.

Honestly, that doesn't seem like a bad thing. Perhaps they'll actually polish up the game and add content to it. The JP version was simply unacceptable for a retail game and I'm hoping they've reconsidered their stance on it and are beefing up the US version.

im not complaining at all im just trying to figure out what else to get with that target deal. I mean i do have 10 games already so not buying anymore wouldnt be a bad thing but i do want virtua tennis lol

was thinking virtua tennis + army corps and now i dont know about the 3rd game

okay, I am sure this has been talked about, but how do you update this thing and use your pre existing account? or do I have to make a new one for the system udpate?

Pretty sure it has some juice in it. Don't know how much. But it's enough to power on if that's what you're asking.

That Target deal applies to all Vita games ? And only games ?

1. Choose to not use an existing account and finish the set up process.
2. Firmware update
3. Log in using your PSN account.

My haul:

Going digital for the most part with everything else. Damn if the screen quality isn't so bad ass.

Word of warning for initial startup: If you are trying to connect it to your PSN account, it won't let you, says there's an update. Just say you want to use an initial default one, it'll have you pick your country and that's about it, you don't have to create a whole useless PSN account. Then just go update and then link to your PSN. Confused me at first.

I'm raking in some serous promotions with this launch. It seems that everything I want to pick up has some great offer somewhere.

  • Preorder Vita at Vita Hill Digital Club Boston, free $10 PSN card.
  • Buy 2 get 1 free at Target
  • Buy $50 in Vita goods at Toys R Us, get $20 gift card

So, if I buy my 16 gig memory card at Toys R Us, combined with the free $10 with my console preorder, I'll be getting $30 in PSN money to buy Escape Plan and SSD along with a PSP game. That's pretty awesome.

Like PS3 it'll probably be a slow-but-steady increase in real third party support. But with the way PSP turned out in Japan, I really don't see major developers like Square Enix and Capcom just ignoring its potential entirely. Now that the thing is actually out worldwide, I think we'll start getting some announcements that matter.

Good point. PSP was wildly successful in Japan. Considering I like eastern developed games more than anything else, and the Vita being region free, I should find plenty to be happy with.

Mine came with >75% charge and I've heard the same from others on here.

Very pleased how easily the sony protective film went on. Front and back are protected!

I can't find the blog post now, but Motorstorm RC is £4.79 UK price, and as far as I am aware that price covers you for ps3/vita

not sure on release date i'm afraid
Yep you buy once and get both versions. Out next week in Europe. No release date for US yet i don't think.

Cool, I didn't know Toys R Us has a Vita promo too.

Oh yeah, protip about the Vita profile banners: make sure your PS3 is off when you change them. Otherwise, your color banner will probably show up as the default slate/grey for PS3 users.

Damn, hope i can remember my PSN password. I know i wrote it down when i had to change it after the hack but i don't know where it is and i keep it saved in my ps3. shit.

Yes. Mine shipped with 90% charge. Enjoy!

@Captain N How did you get the games that aren't due to release until next week? I would love to get Katamari today as well, but Amazon won't be shipping that until next week.

Some stores have it in stock already. No street dates for the games at retail.

Gamestop got an email saying Katamari and Army Corps of Hell dropped their street date for the 22nd.

Picked up my FEB this morning on my way to class. Had about 10 minutes with before I had to get to class. This being my first time ever seeing the system in person, I was a bit surprised, the system is a lot lighter than I expected it to be, also it doesn't feel as "expensive" as the PSP did, but...

Wow at the screen.

It's huge! The OLED display is amazing, put in Wipeout quickly to see it action and it looks amazing on the screen.

For those of wondering Little Deviants comes in a NOT FOR RESALE box, while the 4GB memory card comes in the regular packaging with a sticker over the bar code. I picked up a 16GB card as well, so I'm going to try and get rid off both the 4 gig and Little Deviants somehow.
