PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

I have never actually bothered with the multiplayer in these games. I just prefer relaxing and playing a few rounds of golf solo.
I was hoping to play a round with friends, we like to play flat golf games sometimes. I actually convinced a friend to buy a PSVR due to this coming out before I found it it had no multiplayer.

I've literally been playing the demo for Everybody's Golf VR, pretty much all day. As luck would have it, in social media land this morning, I learned that Everybody's Golf VR got a demo today... I had no idea this was coming.

After some finagling to find it on the Canadian Playstation store, I found a link in a PSVR social media group I'm in to the US Playstation Store with a link to the demo. I logged in with my phone which took me back to Playstation Canada and a link to the demo to download it to my PS4.

I was a little worried about the tracking on the PS Move controller and it turned out this game was above my expectations in several ways after the demo.

The move controller turned out to be highly accurate (again beyond my expectations) allowing you to turn your club face to correct your hooks or slices. Like real golf you don't need to crush it to drive the ball you'll hit 100% power easy enough in-game, but the mechanics of a real swing are very helpful when driving the ball and putting it where you want it to go accurately.

For those of you who golf you'll apply the fundamentals from your game easy enough. For those who don't golf, remember to keep your feet apart the distance of your shoulders and most importantly keep your knees bent when you swing. When you transfer weight from one foot to another as you follow through on your swing, your knees should still be bent and connect as you hit the ball... but keep them bent, turn your head to look at the ball don't lift up with your swing.

Even I make the mistake of rising from a knees bent position to all the way up as I strike the ball, you'll send your ball veering to the left or right this way.

I guess I should mention the advice I'm posting here does come from a reliable source, my uncle who was the regional director of the GVO and now trains young people to golf in his retirement. He's hung out with the likes of Tiger Woods, Mike Weir and John Daly. Not to say I'm even respectable on any golf course as I never put in the time it takes to develop a real game but the core mechanics he gave me to play golf have never made me the worst out of the friends I'll recreationally go golfing with.

I've gotten abit side tracked here but my point being is I've been able to drive the ball 225-230 yards right down the middle of the driving range with those core golf-swing mechanics and thats why I'm so impressed with the controls in this game because it all works like real life.

Unfortunately the demo is just the driving range, although theres an option to play the course, you can't actually switch from a practice swing to the real shot without triggering a pop up to go back to the main menu. Although each time I've tried it a different hole has populated giving you just a taste of what we'll see when the full game launches May 21st. Visually the different holes I've seen look beautiful, from water fountains to rolling greens, if I'm being objective about this whole game the trees are abit cookie cutter, the ball can disappear as you drive it onto the fairway and be abit hard to see due to resolution, hopefully theres a chase camera mode in the full game. Overall the presentation is tranquil, the feel of a golf course and driving range are beautiful and makes me think about what we all hoped Wii Sports Golf would be like in our imaginations... this is ACTUALLY it!

Aside from the Driving Range both a lower and upper level to drive from, the demo also offers a Putting Green, choose different cups to putt too and the Approach mode where you're practicing chipping from various angles, this is a really generous demo despite not being able to play a single hole on the course (which is kind of a tease) but even still I had a blast all day with the demo.

I feel like if the elderly ever realized what VR is, how to set it up and how to play, this game would be be in every retirement village all day everyday... and don't forget the Japanese female staff/ caddies haha. This is a must buy for any PSVR owner and I am straight hooked on this, I can't wait to play a regular course.

Damn, well I didn't realize the US store had put the demo up yet. I have it queued up to download. I don't know how soon I can actually try it myself but this is one of the games I have wanted for a while.

Goddamn.

If that deal came to the UK my wallet would be A LOT lighter (I would also buy the pro)

I'm surprised Sony still haven't released a mega bundle of Pro, VR, camera, Move + games
I had to stop myself from hitting the "place order" button several times!
I'm saving the money for PS5 + psvr2. The BC with ps4 (and psvr) means I won't miss out on anything.

Me too, but it's going to be a looooooooooooong wait.
I wish... yesterday was 2010 and today is already 2019. The older you get the quicker time moves :(
I'm OK with it, I plan to get ps5 on release, then xbox2 when the price drops 100€ unofficially (3-4 months after release because nobody cares for xbox here in Portugal) , and if psvr2 only releases 6 months after that, it gives me time to save money slowly for it.

My ps4 pro won't load discs half the time unless I tap on it several times. Was gonna replace it with the limited edition but it sold out too quick. Was gonna swap out for the version 2 psvr also but just gonna wait for the ps5....should have some disposable cash saved up by then.

Blood & Truth’s Development Is On A Scale VR Hasn’t Yet Seen

Forgive the pretension, but I’ve been on a lot of VR studio tours. I’d say on average most have lasted around five minutes, consisting of one large open-plan floor in which developers bob their heads up from their monitors and give a quick wave upon hearing their name. They’re cozy, friendly and I might even get a cup of tea out of it. My tour of Sony’s London Studio, on the other hand, lasted roughly about three hours. It spanned three floors of the team’s central-London offices. And that’s not mentioning the extensive demo room and interview access I was provided in Sony Interactive Entertainment’s European offices next door. Oh, and I could have had all the tea I’d ever dreamed of, had I so desired. Suffice to say, Sony London is not your average VR development studio

Over the course of the day I’m led on a frankly dizzying tour of the Blood & Truthteam’s facilities. It starts with their boardroom, turned into a makeshift mo-cap studio, aligned with an army of bleeding-edge cameras. There I see two actors recreate a mission-bridging cutscene, occasionally stealing glances at the ‘camera’ (a journalist wearing a motion-captured cap).
In the character design department a vast wardrobe of costumes is laid out on a table in front of me. Some of these, I’m told, were bought from security companies to provide an authentic reference point for the game’s trigger-happy enemies. They’re virtualized and then fitted to immaculate character models, easily more detailed than any I’ve seen on PSVR. Then an environmental artist shows me how the team digitally mimicked London’s arresting skyline with the help of drone flights, procedural generation and (of all things) some old textures from Sony London’s The Getaway.

The message Sony is sending is clear: Blood & Truth isn’t some half-hearted bone thrown towards the fraction of PS4 users that own a PSVR. It really has got the weight of the publisher that brought us God of War, Uncharted 4, and Spider-Man behind it. I couldn’t definitively tell you if those resources have been well-spent just yet, but it’s looking promising.

I had NO IDEA this game is releasing in one week!!!

If you like tower defense games, Korix is on sale for $2. It also runs at native 120fps, so if you're curious to see how amazingly fluid that looks in the headset, it might be worth $2 just to see that.

Statik is also $6 again, so I grabbed it this time.

I am gonna wait for feedback before I bite, I still need to get everybody's golf.

I did get no man's sky while on sale to prepare for the summer update. I suggest all of you that haven't to do the same, it's $20 something digitally.
I'll post some thoughts on here at some point tomorrow. I've tried not to see much feedback on it til I get into it. I also had picked up No Man's Sky a couple weeks back, I've heard its better to do the tutorial type stuff before the VR update lands but I haven't gotten around to it yet myself either, its on a short list.

Is it good deal to get a used (only 4 times apparently) PSVR world bu dle (psvr, camera) for 160€? Or better keep waiting?

Days of play is during E3 next month. They're gonna discount PSVR bundles. I'd rather wait and grab one with the Moves and a couple of games. Not to mention it will be new.

Got "free" $20 PSN credit. It will make the purchase of a new PSVR game a lot easier. What's going to be not easy is which one to pick: Blood & Truth is the obvious new hotness, Everybody's Golf VR looks like it has more lasting appeal, though. Finally I got an itch to play Borderlands 2 VR, even though I am not a Borderlands fan.

Any suggestions on which to get first?

It had been on sale this past week on the PS store for $24 if I'm not mistaken.

Just seen it. I ended up buying Transference for like $8 and The Invisible Hours for $12. I need a few shorter VR games to play between me trying to watch all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones and also trying to beat RDR2.
