PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

Played Spidey (on Vive). It was definitely better than the previous promo. Mechanics were fun, I was surprised that they went for it, doing some actual VR web swinging. Not perfect, but certainly better than I'd expected. The rest of the experience... ehhhh. I'd almost rather not have bothered. I think it's a tease because they've demonstrated that they could do something pretty cool, but there honestly hasn't been any kind of budget/production value put into this. If they spent a little money they could make it look a fair bit nicer (environments), and with some solid design I could see myself happily getting lost in this world. Yes I know it's free, but I'd happily pay good money for a legit campaign building off these mechanics and with some compelling design.. I mean, VR really needs this stuff right now to advance the medium. It's not giving me too much hope for Iron Man, I have to say. I guess we will know more, shortly.

Have you read the gameplay previews for Iron Man? They're incredibly positive, and there's typically a massive difference in scope/quality between a free game and paid.

I had some amazon gift credit so I bought No Man's Sky for cheap in preparation for the VR update. Installed it and played for a bit aaaand... now I want to keep playing. Announce a date already!

I'd wait it out. I've played like 100 hours in the game so far and will be checking out the VR update, but I wish I had never touched it instead and only tried it in VR. Unless the update sucks, but I can't control that haha

I'm waiting on that date too.

I finally got around to playing Astrobot. I've beaten the first 2 worlds so far. This game really is sweet. It should come bundled with every headset they sell as it gives almost a perfect VR experience.

According to the PSVR group I belong too on social media, the long lost title Starchild is available for pre-order @ GameStop with a physical release date of 10/31/19. Starchild if you remember was a side scrolling game that showed potential back on the PSVR demo disc 2.0. Lets hope its not a placeholder and turns out to be a solid date, I'd still like to play this.

Blood & Truth demo coming to PS Store tomorrow.

If you haven't played already, I strongly suggest you check it out.

I bought the full game a few weeks back and FINALLY got around to playing it a bit today. It's a killer VR app.
Seriously, Sony needs to be pushing this title HARD. Incredible experience so far. You're basically in your own
"big budget" action movie. Can't wait to play more but the VR mechanics are ace, easy to use and most importantly, FUN.

Of the 6 gamer friends that have tried at my house, all of them said something similar. Sony should have this in every mall or something lol. As gamers, we're so used to youtubing something to get an idea, but for VR that just doesn't work at all.

I feel like if we had an "app" for cinema mode and it actually tracked the headset with the camera while playing games or watching videos, the issue with the cinema mode drifting would be gone. It's the one reason I don't bother using cinema mode for anything and it's a shame b/c I'd love to pick up some cheap 3D blurays for it.

So that bigscreen thing sounds interesting.

Do people so far actually watch in groups though? Or is it just one or two people in the big room watching with you?
Sorry I am not sure exactly what you mean by people. Do you mean is it popular enough to get groups together? Or functions or something?
I don't know how a lot of others use it but we use it for get togethers all the time. I don't think we are alone or anything.
Also they do the big movie night things as well. I didn't get to go but if I remember right it supported a ton of people watching some classics together like Top Gun.

You answered my question. Thanks. Sounds cool.

So I finally sort my firewall(actual) problem sorted so I can play Firewall, and there is no one playing. The game looks great, but now I think I should sell it while I can....

I saw they are adding more content, but what good is that if no one is playing?

Playing it right now. Playing on default difficulty, it's only this or cinematic. And the game seems stupidly easy. It's fun, but the lack of challenge devalues the package.

Sony has some exciting VR patents, I hope they actually use them on a new VR headset.

I hope so too, other than the tracking/Moves psvr was a damn good piece of tech at release in terms of the screen, refresh rate and comfort. Still isn't terrible but it needs a revision now.

Finished it. Quality product but crappy video game writing unfortunately. The biggest negative is the easiness off it. Died a handful of times only due to just being silly. I don't know why they made it so super casual, at least put a hard mode in it for seasoned players.

A hard mode update is coming soon.

So a hybrid VR/AR solution. Not sure I see benefit to AR in a home environment; on the street yes, directions, info, etc.

It's nice to be able to see through the headset if someone in the room wants to talk to you. Imagine having a baby and your wife leaves for the day and you are at home with the child for the whole day. It sure would be nice to just switch from VR mode to "see through mode" to see how the baby is doing.

"No complaints? Back into the machine! - ZZOOOOOMMM"

Just a friendly reminder for the 2 people that didn't download Wipeout. Get this game, in VR is becomes God tier.

It's FREE This month

Still get mad drifting on VR
And 3D can be meh at times

Done every set up to fix

Screen res is horrific
Gfx are horrific

But even with all that, for £200 PSVR and firewall is God tier gameplay

Am I the only one experiencing bad framerate and skipping when looking around in No Man's Sky VR? I'm not talking about the Nexus. It happens constantly to me in every planet that is not completely desertic. The 30fps I can live with, but when turning my head the skipping is headache inducing. Its like I turn my head and the image stutters for what feels like a couple of frames. Kinda feels like bad framepacing if it was a 2D game.

Thought games that dropped from 60fps weren't going to be certified by sony?

Try turning off all the multiplayer settings.

It's off, I don't even have PS Plus. Playing on a fat PS4. Maybe it runs better on the Pro? (despite apparently not supporting it for VR mode) It's just weird that I haven't seen anyone else mention it, neither here, nor era, nor reddit, etc. I'm hoping Digital Foundry does an analysis on it.
