PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

I'll say this; AS works a lot better with the camera above the display than below. Pretty acceptable for sure!

How's Brookhaven? Is it just waves after waves? I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it wasn't.
Wave after wave static shooter. Every waves are more or less the same. Also there's a lot of downtime waiting for zombies to appear, although later levels are extremely challenging. Graphic is somewhere around meh to below average even on Pro. During launch I would say it's really cool game, but now? It's alright. Maybe Aim patch will change things up, really excited for that.

Aya, I bought Pixel Gear on recommendation of some folks in this thread and I'm afraid it's really not clicking for me. The shooting feels nice, but the first level of the game is pretty drab and boring...do things get more interesting later on, or is it worth cutting my losses if I'm not enjoying it?

Tried the Ancient Amuletor demo on a whim and had to pick it up immediately, what a fun game! The controls just WORK and are really tight in my experience. Playing as the different classes is fun (with more coming) and the difficulty is actually really challenging! Really fun, and a great price point.

Can't wait until some friends of mine get PSVR so we can play together. Multiplayer VR games is something I have yet to try, but seems like it would be amazing.

Just had a really good session with AS. Got like a decent semiautomatic rifle with great sights. It was a great experience. Worked like it should, though a little bit of wobble here and there.

Loving the Aim so far! So my next VR experience; Farpoint, Rez, or Here They Lie?

100%, Farpoint.

Pixel gear in my view is a C level VR game. The only redeeming quality is the tracking. Its solid and one of the best.

The rest is shit. The graphics are blurry, only 3 levels, repetitive and not challenging. I never played the MP so I cant say.

I would say buy this only if its on sale and after you have bough the best stuff out now.

Problem with a credit card thin Oled TV is that I have to figure out alternative ways to put camera above the screen.

Wollan my boy you should try to see if a mic stand or camera stand is an alternative.

I tried doing the camera on top of tthe TV but to change to angle and such was so annoying I opted for camera stand next to my TV system. Not the best method but atleast you can put it away :)

Just tested green light in AS.
Couldn't tell the differences previously in Farpoint, same goes to AS. No differences at all, at least with Move. Will be trying Aim later again.

I think I'm finally getting my vr legs, not getting hot at all anymore, can play for a lot longer, not getting any type of nausea....this pumps me even more.

Tried the call of duty mission and damn there is something absolutely nuts about being in space with VR, unreal.

Just beat Arizona Sunshine campaign. Pretty solid game, definitely not a Farpoint in terms of production but still a very fun horde shooter. Its a bit buggy here and there but overall its good. I wish every game using artificial locomotion would use RE7's FOV filter. I was getting a little motion sick in this game, I think its the same as RE7 where I can do smooth turning on the highest setting but need to FOV filter to not get sick.

I just booted up AS again and spent about an hour and a half in... It was a LOT smoother this time, and for some reason I had laser sights where I didn't before, which helped a ton with turn aiming. Yeah, the tracking still isn't Farpoint good, but it was pretty solid this time. I played in the dark and let my moves/headset sit on the table for about 40 seconds after powering them on and when I got in game everything was smooth.

I'm absolutely loving The Assembly. I'm so immersed in the story here and what is going on it's just awesome, not to mention the overall feel of these labs are just great.

I played it for the first time last night and despite it looking a bit ropey in places I was hooked. I'm a sucker for walking sims or slower paced adventure games so this was right up my alley.

I'm only onto the third trial but so far I'm enjoying it. Surprising considering the very average reviews it received.

TBH the only reason I'd held off playing it before was the price. At £19.99 it was a bit on the steep side but I got it for £7.99 in the recent sale.

it feels just wrong as it doesn't have vertical look on the right analogue stick, feels very annoying to constantly tilt my head so much :p

I played it for just over an hour and I honestly hasn't noticed that at all. I think I'm just acclimatised to VR so looking around instead of using a stick seemed second nature.

Rifle shooting and moving is definitely much better with The interaction however, is kind of frustrating.

Double-click the interaction button and it completes the action for you, so you don't have to mime opening door and drawers with your gun: which is horrible.

It was really doin' my head in, so I thought if only they had implemented a short-cut like double-click—I'd read everyone moaning on Reddit—tried it and it worked.

Try orange

I'm not convinced either, but orange or orangey-yellow "seemed" best

I'm glad I don't get any motion sickness. Being able to play everything with full, smooth locomotion is just so nice. The snap turning stuff just feels so awful to my brain.

I'd normally agree, it feels perfect with something like Farpoint for instance, but since playing Mervils I think it depends on the game. I tried changing over to smooth movements, but the game didn't really seem to benefit from it, teleporting/segmented rotation fits the game nicely. I like being able to trot off a way into the distance and keep the camera in place, that actually feels really good. It worked really well on a little escort mission as I could see the enemies coming from all directions easily, when I played with smooth controls that section didn't play out as well. It just adds to the feel of being an overseer of a world happily going about its business I think, rather than being more anchored to the character. Oh look I went off on one about Mervils again, haha, game is incredible value in the US sale, so glad I grabbed it!

I bought it too, but haven't tried it yet. I bought it because of The Dude's recommendation, so if I don't like it, I'll force him to paypal me the $8. I'l definitely try out the different camera options.

Multiplayer is pretty fun if you have family friends or with your girl. It's like playing hide and seek with a timer you have to find the other players in the game while they hide as objects from the game. It's pretty fun with 2 or more people as hiders. Definitely recommend that.

Cool little game, doubt you'll regret it.

I'm surprised it has any camera control on the right stick (or are you saying it doesn't?). I don't want anything in VR controlling my head except my head.

The GB Quick Look sold me on Polybius. Holy shit man. HOLY SHIT.

Game is something else. It's up there with Thumper and Rez as games that work fine in 2D but become an entirely new experience in VR with positional audio.
Polybius is a spectacle of sight and sound. It's truly incredible in VR and I recommend it to everyone here.

I have my full VR legs. Nothing makes me sick anymore.

However, I've noticed that getting to the point where I'm no longer sick has coincided with my loss of a sense of presence in VR. Almost like my mind is no longer tricked in any way. Every part of me now realizes that I'm in a game. So yes, the nausea is gone but so is much of the the sense on wonder.

Still, having tons of fun despite that.

It's called Trinus PSVR. From the little bit of reading I've done, it basically tricks your headset into thinking it's plugged into a PS4, this allowing you to use VR mode when plugged into a PC instead of just the usual Cinema mode.
Yeah, I use it for playing ED in VR on my PC, works pretty good too.
Anybody else tried Trinus? I thought this would be much more popular considering all the PC homebrew/demo VR stuff out there. When I consider buying a PSVR, it's always with other applications as a close secondary reason.

yeah it has horizontal look.

but it should, as then it allows for more extreme angles. Playing Resident Evil 7 and Farpoint was perfect as i play them just like a normal FPS but i have a lot more finesse and freedom with added head movement and tilting of my head :D

Hell yeah. Ultra Wings and this table tennis game are going to be amazing PSVR titles.

I've only used it to play Vivecraft, which was quite awesome. I just wasn't playing enough to buy the program, so I could only try it out for 10 minutes at a time. With all the time it takes to tinker with it to get it working, I'm just not ready to buy it without knowing of a good handful of games that work well with it.

I've tried a couple of games with it like Subnautica, Dirt Rally, and Race the Sun. They all worked perfectly fine!

Ongoing updates for my own Arizona Sunshine troubles. Incremental turning has helped my motion sickness a great deal but I'm still battling some tracking issues. Which leads me to firing at almost everything except a zombie.

I also need to get my VR legs because the incremental turning in AS is pretty shitty when it comes to battling a bunch of zombies attacking from several angles.

Try calibrating the Move controller. Main problem is just Move jittery right? calibrate it in the condition you will be playing it. e.g. if you are playing with lights off, calibrate the Move while lights are switched off.

Makes sure you're facing straight at the camera when you calibrate too.

This is an issue I had with 3D movies, but what keeps it working for me in VR is that I look around myself. That usually keeps my immersion high.

Thats just getting use to it. Happened to me as well but I never had motion sickness to get over. Its just VR becoming a new normal. You still get the wow moments but it is when something is really special, similar to when you see an amazing sight in real life.

Yep, I was still marveling at stuff, but it took "that" moment in Farpoint to make me speechless.

You just blew my mind with this simple statement.

Anyway I always find floating hands so much more immersive compared to games trying to replicate my arms and joints. They could never get close to the actual position and it's quite frustrating sometimes. Farpoint did it pretty well actually, that was the only time that I thought it worked well. One thing that bugs the hell out of me with Farpoint is the hand infront. As soon as your left hand went further right than your right hand, the game assumes your left hand is no longer holding the gun and the entire left arm is gone. Also just reaching out my arms a little further out to aim, the left arm will also detach from the gun.

As for immersive environment, mountains and valleys always does it for me. Arizona Sushine and Farpoint are very immersive on Pro.

Just tried green light with aim again, really can't tell the difference. Still jittery. One thing I do notice with Aim mode is, those automatic rifle weapon works really well, I really enjoyed the Aim mode with automatic rifle just now, now I'm starting to like the Aim mode a lot. Jittery is definitely worse than Move, but the gun are so much more satisfying and fun to use. Movement is also much smoother, in the same spot where I die 3 times using Move, I cleared it on my first try with zero damage taken.

I'm not sure how you're able to play at all with the AIM. For me there's no way to look down the sights without it freaking out.

I will definitely wait for an Aim fix before continuing, just wanted to try green light and then I played for 30 minutes after I got an automatic rifle.

Yea I don't know if it's because the immersion factor is wearing off or if it's because your brain is normalising the sensation..
You can try and test it in a game where you have free movement, and try and run, as fast as the games allow you, in to a wall, and see if you don't flinch :p
